I thought the PayPal fee what the same for e-checks as regular PayPal - whatever percentage they are charging.

Purchases are 1.9-2.9% + 30 cents. This is for credit cards and e-checks.

Transfers are FREE if it is from a Paypal balance OR Checking Account.

The difference: Purchases are for items bought, transfers are moving money between accounts.

HWA- I think they are charging you Paypal's new HWA fee. lol.

This is shown on my Paypal item page-
Total amount:
$1,050.00 USD
Fee amount:
-$5.00 USD
Net amount:
$1,045.00 USD
/////////////////
Now,this check has not cleared yet,I will report back when it clears to see if this $5 fee sticks.
Come to think of it,it is really ACH automated clearing house between PAYPAL and the buyer bank account, equivalent to our online banking, there is no fee involved,so Paypal is charging $5 for its service !

If the past, there was some type of payment that when taken from certain accounts (maybe the buyer's bank acct.?) had a maximum $5. fee. Don't remember the details, as it didn't happen for me very often.
I have never noticed a difference in echeck and regular payments.

arent echecks taken from bank account?
If not from bank account, then where is it coming from?
It sounds too good to be true,$5 from $1050 purchase is only 0.476 %.

I would look at their fee schedule to see what the fee is for. Is it an international payment? Possibly a currency exchange fee? I am still going with a special HWA fee.

No,this is a domestic transaction.
With e check, there is no merchant discount fee,it is an 'ACH' transaction and costs PAYPAL nothing,so $5 is handling fee,may be the max handling fee is $5.

i don't see it on their rate sheet. i would call them if the 5 bucks is important. i still think they are charging you a "special fee" for being so special. lol.

shag.
5 bucks is important,it is less than 1/2 % on this transaction, think if all high ticket transactions only cost 1/2%?It would sure relieve the burden of total cost of doing business on Ebay!
