Vintage Lightning Portable Adding Machine, with Subtracting Feature Original Box
Fine vintage 1950s mechanical adding machine by the Lightning Adding Machine company of Los Angeles, California. Adds and subtracts (by means of using 10's complement arithmetic, a bit cumbersome). A lever on the side of this gadget clears the register and resets back to zero. A YouTube video demonstrates the clearing operation. Video of adding machine being cleared... An aluminum stylus is included for selecting the number to be entered. The highest number is entered first. The addition is done as each number is entered. Google "10's complement arithmetic" to get an idea as to performing subtraction. Neat little part of history and a nice addition for a collector of old office machines. The bakelite stand and original coupon is included with the box. Sorry, but instructions are not included but were not in the box when this item was purchased.
The adding machine is made of stamped metal. It measures 12 1/4 inches long by 2 3/8 inches wide. The adding machine, bakelite stand and original box together weigh 1 lb 14 oz (shipping weight 2 lbs).

Our US shipping policy goes like this:
USPS First Class Mail for small packages that weigh less than 12 oz.
USPS Priority Mail for lightweight orders that fit in a box 12" square and under.
USPS Parcel post or UPS Ground for heaver and larger items that weigh more than a pound or fit in a box 14" square and over.
Paintings, prints and other large pieces are shipped using the best carrier on a case by case basis.
We will always combine shipping wherever possible.
Return Policy: Satisfaction guaranteed or you may return any item for a full refund. Return must be initiated within 7 days of receipt of package.
