Kuhl's Palm    Native to Indonesian Lowland rainforests  of Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi.   Pinanga kuhlii
	Pinanga kuhlii is an exotic palm species endemic to Indonesia where it grows in light, humid lowland rainforest. It forms a slender trunk to about 15 ft. tall, topped by a cream colored crownshaft and a spreading crown of elegantly arching leaves with about 40 broad leaves. It is very fast growing and a very rewarding palm for the humid tropics.     This is one of the most popular species in Hawaiian gardens. The most striking feature is the crownshaft which is a cream color. The premorse, slightly pendant leaflets are a light to emerald green and often faintly mottled with yellow. The trunk is closely ringed and is green at the top and slowly fades to a cream color.         This attractive clumping palm species can reach a height of up to 15 ft. It has a slender, smooth, closely ringed trunk with a cream colored crown splashed with green and black, with gracefully arching, dark green leaves. A long crownshaft; and arching leaves with drooping segments with tips that appear jagged and torn. It is suitable for moist sub-tropical and tropical climates.
	If that wasn't enough color, the bright red foot-long, branched flower stalks hang below the crownshaft throughout the year and display small pink flowers, sprouting out just below the crownshaft in a bright pink inflorescence. These blooms give way to dark purple and red sprays of half-inch-long fruits which ripen year round.
P. kuhlii with a nice orange new leaf	Previously split into 2 species, (P. coronata being the other), it is now thought to be just a highly variable single species. P. kuhlii is the form found in the lower elevations, whilst P. coronata is found at higher altitudes.         As with most Pinangas, it's cold sensitive. This palm can be grown in Southern California, although it will not the easiest palm.

Includes postage, USDA certification and inspection, proper packing and delivery to Airport for prompt delivery. I can’t really change any of these. If you want one of this and one of that, it gets hard to discount much as each different species requires it's own prep & packing, then at USDA each has to be unwrapped and inspected then repacked. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on the other side of the island. It takes my wife and I, a day to pack items and get ready to ship. The whole next day we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours), then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes the same work with the same type item if you can understand.
