This item is sold as 10 fresh bare root rhizomes with leaves.
The Tulbaghia violacea, commonly known as 'Society Garlic' is a very tough plant, drought tolerant, grows well in full sun and light shade, and is well suited planted in containers or pots, rockeries, rows or as an accent plant in cottage gardens.
This is a lovely ornamental and edible plant which forms showy dense evergreen clumps of narrow, grayish solid green leaves with tall large clusters of elegant star shaped little lavender or lilac flowers from early spring through late autumn.
The entire plant is edible and can be used as a garlic or chive subsitute, with the leaves, bulbs and flowers having an aroma and taste of garlic. Also used throughout Asia and Europe medicinally for a variety of aliments.
*** A great compliment with the White Rain Lily plant also on offer ***
