Well, things were certainly down here on Canada's west coast, over two entire days of image outages for the seven my auctions were running. Images came back up about four hours before they all ended; bidding was good, though some items seemed low, and of course there is no way to determine accurately if bids ended lower than they could have without the outages.

However, this all spurred me on to check out alternatives to Vendio. Just the other week I saw an eBay auction listing using a different launching provider, and I quite admired the look of the template and layout the seller was using, so I checked out the company and found that their annual cost is $70.00 total with 200MB hosting which is more than enough for my needs (no extra per image fees), and they have something like 1,600 auction templates, their auction launcher & system fully compatible with eBay, Paypal, etc. This compares to about $400.00 I'm spending annually at Vendio with the combined annual subscription plus the additional image hosting fees that Vendio added into the mix a couple of years ago.

I launched 30 new auctions last night through the new site (signed up for one month at $13.00) and I am very pleased with the results, and of course, bids are coming in.

The auction launching process was different than Vendio, a bit more cumbersome in some areas, but much easier in some others, and once I started getting used to it, it was just as easy. Big difference was no delayed auction scheduler, and you can't upload as many photos at once, and a few other things like photo image thumbnails that I can live without. I still have Vendio as a backup until next April when my current annual plan expires, but at this point I believe I will be shifting all my new auctions to the new service -- it might take slightly extra time overall in launching and managing my auctions, but the price difference is significant.

So there are alternatives out there, worth checking out, perhaps there is one that will work for you as well. Or stay with Vendio, they provide a very good service, though kind of pricey it seems.

My understanding of things is that problems can and will occur with computer systems, this one was just terribly big and long-lasting and very frustrating for many Vendio users. All in all, I've been very satisfied with Vendio for the many years I've been here -- but this extended outage has shown me alternatives that may even be better for my personal auction needs.

Cheers to all and good luck!

worldcovers1: I think service has been very good for quite some time, both with Vendio and Ebay, not like the old days when Ebay used to have a lot of outages. I don't recall a major outage like the one this week for a long time. The main difficulty with Vendio/Ebay is when Ebay has a special discount or free listing day, then some users find their auctions are very slow to launch as the day goes on, things get kind of jammed up. I've been avoiding special listing offer days the last year as I prefer less competition on eBay for my auctions, not more.

ISP problems have extended into the weekend. Last night, I had intermittent site availablity. I wrote to "Customer Service" about the problem. AFTER being informed it was Vendio ONLY, and no other website, they suggested I clean my cache?! This reply happened within 5 minutes of my orignal query. I responded that my cache was fine and there was clearly some more ISP squirelliness going on, well no reply came AFTER that?! These problems are becoming tiresome and "playing ebay" in your responses (clean cache) is simply unacceptable! Here is a thread form ebay's forums discussing ONGOING problems THROUGH the weekend:
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?messageID=1009736726&forumID=143&x#1009736726 .
When can we expect stability?
