LOL @ the LALALALA.

Out of context? Oh. So sorry. This is in all its glory along with the warning given by Joice to a certain someone. Help yourself.

LALALALALALA, I cant hear you. (just taking your advice Michelle).

Use the "ignore" feature, stick your fingers in your ears and sing 'LaLaLa" in a loud voice, sit on your fingers - whatever works!

No offense, MichelleG, but if you want folks to learn by example and respect eachother, it would help if you weren't so condescending in your own posts as a moderator. It almost looks like you can't resist getting in a few barbs of your own.

And no, I won't be taking this to email.

No offense taken, julesy.

Users aren't the only ones who get tired of hearing "Address the topic, not the individual" and "the ignore feature is at your disposal". My comments were in no way meant to sound condescending but were merely an attempt to lighten the tone of this thread - obviously it didn't work.

Please accept my apologies if I have offended anyone.

Thanks MichelleG, and no apology is necessary really.

It's just something I noticed, happening more lately, with a couple different moderators. I'm sure you guys get pretty frustrated, but it just struck me as being an ineffectual way of approaching things.

Why not just make things easier on all of us and suspend Helen & Hepburn's posting privileges? (<--That's a joke HELEN!)

MichelleG: It seems to be OK for some posters to lash out at others, but not for the "lashees" to respond. Not very fair.

At the risk of being given a reprimand, I must say that it is *not* imagination that HJW periodically lashes out at other posters for no real reason, leaving trails of "huh?" behind her. One only has to look at a thread like http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=28&thread=80903&id=80903 to see what I mean. I even started a thread in response to an undeserved reaming from this poster on the thread I note asking if there was a problem--never got a response, either.

HJW: This is *not* an attack but simply an observation. You can be one of the most interesting posters here--witty, interesting, on the ball. BUT: periodically you blow up for no real reason that anyone can see, claiming to be attacked & reading meanings into posts that aren't there.

Everyone,

No one individual has been warned in this thread since I came on duty (or for a number of days for that matter). There have been a number of *nudges* by various Mods throughout this thread to get back on topic and yet the bickering has continued.

It doesn't have to be like this - the constant digs at each other. The participants of this thread are among the most intelligent and interesting Users we have and many of your contribute great things to the AW Forums. No Mod wants to warn and/or suspend any of you but if the insults keep flying, I will have little choice.

Now - can we try just once more to PLEASE get back on track, back on topic and save the digs at eachother.

Michelle

P.S. I *know* that moderation discussion is generally not permitted within the Forums - I'm using my Moderator Superpowers to make an exception in this instance.

krs - you didn't even have to comb your hair!

With this thread the Republicans had their chance to tell us why they voted for Bush. They have also had the chance to show us why they continue to support him. They have done neither, and do you know why? They can't!

Let's just hope they have learned their lesson and don't vote for him again, or for that matter, any other Republican that has the same agenda.

The solution is at hand. If he could only be persuaded to come close enough, a pair of the board mavens here might hug the life out of him. Smothered by affectation.

Hahahaha zilvy! I saw a girl on TV eat one and I almost heaved. Is Fear Factor a new show where people have to eat really gross stuff? Maybe it was for that. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw that in to catch everyone off guard.

Hi chococake

Someone asked me what I liked about the Bush Admin. on page 1, they asked in my own words.. and I did say what I did.. and this is only me, but if thru the next 3 years or whatever it is, and I believe he's done a good job, yes I would vote for him again, but it takes more than what he has done so far to convince me to vote for him again.

Sure, there is some things I don't like. As with Clinton, there were things I did like.

I hope that made sense

I still say that anyone who wants to know what is good about the Bush administration has the same resources I do. And, I've had no problem finding numerous excellent commentaries on his administration. It just depends on where you're looking and which journalist/commentator/expert you choose to believe. Here's a snippet of an article I agree with for the most part... not all but most. It took me about two minutes to find it - as I've said before. I think it's EASY to find things to criticize about - but it's much more productive to study both sides and realize that it's never 100% perfect or 100% imperfect...

http://www.miami.com/herald/content/opinion/opcol/digdocs/094619.htm

The centerpiece of his economic program, the tax cut, already has been enacted. His education reform is now in conference. And he broke decades of taboos when the House passed his faith-based initiative.
And just before the August recess, two stunning political victories: The House passed his version of the patients' bill of rights and an energy plan that includes drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. For icing, it passed an airtight anti-cloning bill, too.
But the most significant achievement of the administration is its radical reorientation of U.S. foreign policy. During the first post-Cold War decade, Bill Clinton carried on as if nothing had changed. Its entire nuclear and strategic posture was Russocentric.
Bush introduced a foreign policy based on the glaringly obvious reality that Russia no longer is either a superpower or an enemy. He announced a new strategic doctrine, unilaterally cutting American offensive weapons while at the same time developing defensive weapons. American forces would henceforth be reconfigured to meet threats from new enemies, not from a nonexistent Soviet Union.
A tax cut, education reform, faith-based charities, a beginning on energy and a patients' bill of rights, a ban on cloning and a new foreign policy. In six months. By a guy who won the election by 537 votes.
Not bad. I'd give him two months off.

Passing the house is only half of a victory, yet his people and much of the press term it a 'stunning victory'. Doesn't that seem just a little bit misleading?

Considering that others and much of the press call it no victory I'd say it's likely somewhere in between... but, the press and politicians are exceedingly careful to never let facts get in the way of reporting.

Hello Dr. Beetle, and welcome back!

While the archives may not exist to that reference that ouy made, I still have the IRS PDF on my PC. Instead of refuting your arguement and your version of events, for the sake of not being nasty, I'll let KRS's recent posts be my reply as well.

Hello Mybidness and thank you for posting that White House Press release that was passed out to the media just prior to Bush's one-month long vacation. I've heard it on TV and seen it in our local newspaper as well. That puts you and JLPiece into the same class -- the only ones so far to post anything positive about Bush.

But really, all I wanted to do in this thread was to encourage republican posters or those who ardently support the Bush administration to do more than just gruellia warfare on anti-Bush posters, taking the occasional pot-shot at those who express their opinions from the safety of never posting their own. I wanted Bush supporters to go somewhere mainstream, as KRS indicates, and start up a thread touting the wonderful things that Bush has done for this country since taking office, all of the promises that he followed through on, and the deep concern with which he gives Americans and in particular, his constituants. Maybe, just maybe, one could provide the occasional link to the good that the republican party is doing for America in retort for someone else's thread. And why not? It's better than sitting there like a sniper and rapid firing surly commentary at the posters instead of the content of the posts.

Well, I guess that you just can't expect miracles in a messageboard anymore.
