So, are you going to watch the Condit interview with that heavy hitter (heh) Connie Chung tonight?

May I suggest you not hold your breath for any revelations about the still missing Chandra Levy.

Spend your time tonight in a better way- watch the Little League Playoffs on ESPN.

I find the whole thing repulsive. At the very least he is guilty of cheating on his wife, of treating women like dirty secrets, of trying to coerce them into silence ... yet the nation is going to sit and watch this creep try to "rehabilitate" his image. As if he can be absolved by special dispensation of the great PR god. That b.s. picture of him and his wife on the cover of People Magazine, the constant media reports that he has been practicing for the interview (rather than just going in unprepared, with only the truth in his bag of tricks) ... it all makes me sick.

But of course I'll watch.

No, I will miss that one.
Even if he had nothing to do with her dissapearance I think he could have done more to aid her family in finding out what really happnened.
But then OJ is still looking for Nicole and Ron's killers too, isn't he?
NOT.

I'm going to Femme....are you? I feel bad for this guy because he didn't handle things the way the Levy's and the media wanted him to. I don't think he's guilty of being involved in her disappearance, but I think his career is over because of it.

He and Clinton have the same faulty system of prevarication - they throw out a half statement and wait to see if every thing calms down and they can slide by without saying anymore. The trouble is they have no sense that some things pass a certain threshhold where the stink is too great to be smoothed over with a couple slick half truths. Then you end up looking even worse than if you just stonewalled.

The letter he sent to his constituents doesn't read very well. He doesn't truly apologize for being a cad...instead he comes off as an indignant putz.

Well, I just found the old movie "Soylent Green" at my local Library...I'm afraid Condit loses to that

Perhaps Chandra is "away" till a baby is born, if she really was pregnant? Who knows! I really hope no harm came to her.

There's a serial killer at large in the DC area who has preyed on at least two other young interns since late January. There could be as many as five more. The police are covering the fact with vague statements about dissimilar MOs but the truth is that the first was found dead within hours, the second was found after a couple of months in the Potomac river, and of course Chandra has yet to be found. That indicates to me only that the killer's disposal methods are becoming more sophisticated and are not related to any method of operation used to kill. I have not seen a comment on any possible significance of the fact that no further missing person reports of the type have been filed since the beginning of this month.

I suppose you're right, Condit could be responsible for the other killings too.

Well, if I can stay awake, I'll watch it.

TV stinks, and I don't dare read or I definitely will drift off.

So, I'll gab with my buds until 10pm.

-------

If Condit had anything to do with her disappearance, it was due to a situation that got out of hand.

He's a user, but I doubt if he is a murderer or even stupid enough to hire someone to rid him of his problem.

Perhaps Levy was pregnant and threatened to expose him unless he left his wife. Things got out of hand, which led to an accident. It is a possibility.

On the other hand, I watch Washington news and there have been other young women murdered in that neighborhood. It is possible that she was another victim of whomever murdered the other two women.

Would have preferred that Condit had been more forthcoming with information in the beginning. Of course, that would have happened only if he had truly cared for her.
He wasn't about to jeopardize his career for just another lay.

Backfired though, didn't it? His career is in jeopardy. Of course, he wouldn't have had to worry about it had he just kept it in his pants.

Hope I didn't offend anyone with my bluntness.

On second thought, I'm not watching. The more I considered it, the more I felt like a dupe. Here I know it's a scripted "unscripted, unedited" interview, one he's been practicing for. Connie Chung won't rattle him because that would take a level of aggressiveness that no network personality would dare approach. In the end, all it comes down to is network television affording this bozo a free chance to improve his political career and maybe fool some people along the way. It's an infomercial, basically, with Gary Condit playing the dual role of snake oil salesman and the snake oil.

I'm watching the thirtysomething rerun on Bravo instead.

spazmodeus, what makes you so sure he's guilty? I would hope people would give him the benefit of the doubt.....innocent until proven guilty type thing. There could be a very BIG chance he's not even involved in her disappearance.

The congressman thinks we are all stupid - and why shouldn't he? - people voted for him didn't they?

As sharp a snake as you will ever see sitting saying nothing,
There are so many things he is puzzled over.
I could get some straight answers out of him with a straight edged razor blade and the half hour Connie had.

I doubt if I watch it. What he has to say doesnt interest me because hes a liar, plain and simple. He had the gall to point his finger at Clinton, and he was doing the same thing himself. Personally, I think they should look closer at MRS condit. She might not have been as "tame" as Hillary was, knowing someone was bonkin' her man. Regardless of whether her "man" instigated it and it takes two to tango.

Will hold my tongue until the West Coasters get to see the interview.

So, until tomorrow...

Unless, of course, I have insomnia in 4 hours (that's usually when I wake up if I'm not lucky enough to get through the night).

I saw the interview and I was not impressed. Condit was not forthcoming. But then again, I doubt he would have confessed to Connie at this late point. Watching Condit reminded me of Clinton's handling the Monica "affair." Is there anyone on Capitol Hill who is NOT sleazing it up with a teeny-bopper intern?

The most disturbing element of the interview was Condit's response to the question about the statement the the stewardess was asked to sign. Condit claimed ignorance of the statement, and dismissed it as talk between lawyers.

When Ted Koppel raised the issue later with Condit's lawyer, the lawyer immediately tried to steer away from the topic ("this is about Chandra Levy". Actually, that possible obstruction of a government investigation is the most significant issue facing Condit and his re-election. Condit's claim that he didn't know what the lawyer was doing was thin at best. The fact that the document was a "draft" was no excuse. Clearly there was an attempt to stifle the truth, in this case an FBI investigation.

Condit is a philanderer and a liar, though he lacks the charm or brains of a Clinton.

This guy's hiding something. Didn't expect any more than we saw. Much time must have been spent practicing those lines though. He did well at repeating himself over and over and over.....word for word. Scripted.

Think the only reason he did this was to try and save his political career. Don't believe this helped him at all.

Every one's lying except him.....sure.

Scripted? You think?

"I have been married for 34 years".
"I have made mistakes."
"I am not perfect."

Not once, not twice, but 4 times he referred back to this part of the script.

Don't have time to get into this right now.

(For when you're back, femme.) I kept talking to Connie, via my screen , and telling her to quit asking the same question over and over and over. There were so many questions to be asked in such a short time....get on with it was my thought. But then after he repeated his answer, exactly the same way, over and over...I thought well at least it *proves* it was not just a spontaneous reply, but rather a very rehearsed (scripted) answer.

The onset of old age is often presaged by certain behaviors, one of the foremost being the tendency to describe young women in their twenties as "teenyboppers."

Condit was so uncomfortable! I happen to catch the very last 5 minute segment, then a recap of the interview, and could not believe this was the same Condit!

That stupid smile of his has been driving me nuts since the beginning of the investigation, that display of forced self-confidence, has been screaming that the man is a phoney.

But now, his wooden attitude, his body language, everything about him, spoke of a trapped rat...Whether or not he has something to hide is for the investigators to determine...but he really has lost all the bravado, all the luster...Each time the guy spat out "Well, again, I am not a perfect man...", I wanted to slap him...

I caught about 5 minutes of it. My goodness was he coached well or what?

Does anyone else think that he is protecting his wife? I'll bet she had something to do with Chandra's disappearance.

Condit certainly isn't doing well according to polls taken after the interview.
