On the other hand, I suppose this statement by Spaz earlier today surely implied that any of us posting at other boards are nice people.
At the time new boards had just come into existence, places where posters could sign up anonymously and publicly eviscerate any other poster they pleased. Nothing was off limits. Insults about other posters' family members, their illnesses and handicaps, their business practices, groundless allegations that this poster had been stalking that one, foul, brutal, abusive language ... it was a free-for-all. It still is, and it's ugly as all hell. The only difference today is that there are more boards of this type than there were a year ago.
Of course, I'd guess none of the nice AW RT posters have been making any of the anon comments at any of those boards. Although... I thought I saw a thread where lots of anon posters were listing their "likes" and "dislikes" of posters, there were a lot of AW names on those lists of likes and dislikes. Now how could that be unless there was some overlap in posters between all the boards? Just wondering.
Sometimes the only difference between the RT and the other boards is that the language is politer here, the level of hostility underneath the politer words can reach just as high in some threads IMHO.

S-kitty! good to see you.
Lately insomnia seems to have its awful grip on my nighttime hours.
I mentioned it the other day here (actually in the middle of the night) on the Restless Legs threads, asking for tips to deal with it... ah well, didn't get too much response. Nevermind. I sure get to play a lot of solitaire staying up half the night. Love Spider Solitaire the best. Get too tired to work all night after working all day.

Becky you pulled the curtains on the van but, girl, you gotta tone it down, I'm tryin' to watch a movie here!!

I don't know about anyone else, but my new job is kicking my ass. The only time I get online is for a 'brain drain'....when I can just sit and read and not have to think about all the stuff I have to do.
Problem is there ain't a whole lotta time for that.

I've noticed the drop off in post/posters as well. In fact, I've just completed an exhaustive search through the AW site search engines and the results are quite telling.
As of six months ago there has been a dramatic decrease in the number of times that the words chicken, chickens or white meat have been mentioned here at the RT. In the last six months of the year 2000 chickens were mentioned in some form or the other at least 4,321 times. Since that time other than the occasional "The Sky is Falling" thread with the allusion to Chicken Little... there has been almost no mention of chickens in this forum. Why should it be any great surprise to us then when people seem to be drifting away?
We've somehow created our own sad, perverse little chickenless hellhole.
Sure, you can have all the cute little kittie, doggie, cow, pig threads you want but do any of you honestly believe that that can make up for the glaring lack of chicken chat? Puleeese!
When men/women cease to care why the chicken crosses the road it is only natural to see a marked decline in interest in other areas as well. Our righteous friend the chicken has scratched for his food and plopped eggs out his hiney for centuries but yet we in our mistaken superiority believe that this is something that doesn't warrant our notice? I think not.
I've seen lots of references to bull and pork (see politics) - but somehow each of us in this forum has been guilty of leaving the chicken utterly alone in this efforts to understand exactly why it is that he has repeatedly crossed that damn road.
How do you think it feels to be singled out that way? When did we deem this as a no-chicken zone?
I know what you're thinking - Have I mentioned chicken 6 times or only five times? Well, to tell you the truth, in all the excitement - I've kinda lost track myself. You've got to ask yourself one question - 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?
Isn't it about time we gave the chicken back his own thread?

Naked Mole Rats are the only known mammmal who live like insects! They have a Queen, Workers, and Soldiers. Only the Queen breeds. Only 1-3 males in each hive breed with the Queen. Like bees & ants, when a colony grows too large, a young Queen will go off & form her own colony.

Years ago I first heard about the Naked Mole Rat when a passing mention was made to them on a National Geographic special. They sounded fascinating! I kept hoping the NG would do a special *just* on the Naked Mole Rat, but it never happened, and info was really hard to find.
I was thrilled a couple of years ago when two seperate books on them were published & I bought them for my library. One is for kids in 3-4th grades, the other for 6th grade & up. They're *very* popular with the kids--almost as popular as our books on the Tasmanian Devil.
