Hi zilvy, No crystal ball involved. They pulled the same scam here about a year ago with their Monopoly game.
There was only one "monopoly" that got the loot!

Gravid don't forget to McClick your heels three times!!

When MickeyDees first introduced their bonless barbeque rib sandwich I gave it a try! Thank goodness I was close to home and could clean up in the shower. The manager had asked,"How do you like our new sandwich?"
To which I replied, It's very tasty and McMessy!! Extra napkins and soap and water were needed!!

nettak & anyone else interested, Remember my dopey neighbour who cleared the block next door of all the beautiful trees and made my fernery useless.
He decided to build a house on it overlooking our back fence. Our local planning laws are so pathetic he was allowed to build within three feet of our boundary.
I've been doing a bit of work on the garden and it's beginning to take shape again although I'm very down on spring blooms at the moment. I just didn't have the heart to plant early this year.
However, what's done is done. I've taken some shots of the garden today so you can see how it's progressing.
The last photo is the house that dopey built. I have some sceening trees ready to be transplanted that will soon hide it.
I have made the photos as links, rather than bore too many people or cause slow loading.

Bob your yard and garden look so lush, mine is still in suvival mode and is taking it's time coming back. It certainly is not as green as yours, although in another month or so it will be I am sure.

Is that a big tree fern I see in the background of picture #1?

The house that dopey built is very close to your fence, I can see in my crystal ball why you would not want it that close.

Hey that has a certain ring to it "The House that Dopey Built" LOL haha

In picture 2 I think you have the same garden table and chairs that I have only mine are on the patio. Are they dark green metal and really hard to sit on?

I am not sure if I am correct but have you got Azaleas' as well as Camellias' it is hard to tell from a distance.

Your yard and garden look lovely Bob, I would say you spend a fair amount of time in it working. I am going to have to do a lot to mine to bring it back after all the work we have been doing around here lately.

We are now just about set up for the wood yard, the only thing Greg has to do now is put a retaining wall up in one corner, but that should not take too much. We also have a new front fence and at long last we have big gates we can lock across our driveway. Greg pulled the old wooden fence down last week and he has put in galvanized posts with 5 strands of wire across the front and he had the gates made especially to fit across the cattle grid. We put a 16 foot wide gate on the other side of the paddock (field) so that we can have duel access and if we need to get a tractor in from the road end instead of coming up the driveway we can.

Next job on the list is the guttering on the house that is being done on Friday week. Greg is up on the roof with the water blaster thingo now, cleaning the tiles so that they are ready to be reconcreted when the new gutters are being put on. I am not sure what the hell he did but I had water coming in the ceiling near the window in the laundry. I was yelling at him to stop and he just kept on blasting. He could not hear me above the noise of the machine, so I ran around the house and started yelling at him again and waving my arms like some mad woman. Anyway he finally saw me and came and had a look. It has never leaked when it rained but the blaster is very strong and I guess it just shows that it is time indeed to have the roof and guttering redone.

The only thing is that I now wish I had a money tree, because we have spent so much money in the last couple of months. It makes me want to cry just thinking about how much.

I might come back in later and see if anyone else is around. Talk to you all later.

I forgot to tell you that I got flashed last night.

Speed Camera Flash that is. Oh well that will teach me, I was doing 6 klms over the limit so I guess that will be $100+ and a couple of points. It is my own fault because I was following this real wank of a driver and he kept speeding up and slowing down, speeding up and than slowing down over and over so the first chance I got I changed lanes and then tried to get in front of him so that he could not change lanes ahead of me. Anyway I was honestly caught and when I get my fine in the mail I will know I have no one to blame but myself.

I should have just rammed the back of him and let the insurance deal with it, but I was in my daughter's car and I did not want to hurt her little red demon. Anyway the car in front of me was a heap of crap and I would not want them to get a payout from my insurance. LOL Mean aren't I?

Oh Bob, your yard is gorgeous! It look like what I dream about turning what we call our back 40 into. (That's the back third or so of our yard that's nothing but a weed garden right now. ) I've always wanted a bit of a tropical garden, but not the whole yard because that would be too much work I think. But I don't know if I could get it to work very well here in the desert without a lot of care and water! Besides, I can kill a cactus, so I'm not sure how well I'd do.

Hi Netta! It sounds like things are going right along over there.

Bob - That is so nice. We had a real dry summer here and nothing is as lush and green as that. It was so dry a lot of the trees have shed leaves or they have turned brown and are all wilted. Are mesquitoes a problem in your area? We just got a fever virus in this area that is transmitted by mesquitoes and everyone is concerned about not catchiing it. It kills crows and bluejays also.

Nettak - They experimented with those cameras out in Texas.
The first day they mailed out citations they went out to unload the camera and someone had shot a hole through it with a high powered hunting rifle. -back to drawing board - so they built a welded steel box with inch and a half steel plate walls and had the camera peek out with a mirror. The next day they came back and somebody had taken the whole box out with an antitank weapon that made a 3 inch entry hole and blew the rear plate completely out and imbedded it in a concrete wall behind the mounting post. Typical texans.

I had a friend in California's Mohave desert that had a lawn in the little space between the driveway and his front door. About the size of a kingsize bed. In order to keep it green every morning before driving to work he would soak it until it was saturated and the
water was not soaking in anymore but running off over the sidewalk. The roof line of the house kept the sun off it until late morning so it survived. The backyard was cactus and sage brush and a josua tree with snake tracks all through the sand every morning. I liked it actually.

Hi all, I've just finished packing for the night. I'll drop them off at the P.O. in the morning on the way to golf.
Thanks for the kind comments on the garden.
When we first came here most of the place was covered in bamboo that had run wild. It was twenty feet tall in places. It took months to dig it all out and get all the suckers that kept coming up.
From there it's been done a bit at a time.
Believe it or not, most of the plants have been scrounged and salvaged fro other peoples throw outs.
I've got an area along the side of the house with masses of stuff in pots. I get a bit of a buzz from dragging a ratty old plant home and bringing it back to health.
Apart from a little bit of maintenance the garden pretty much looks after itself these days and doesn't take as much looking after as you'd think.

I see you have one of those single pole clothes drying frames. Around here most places you can't have those or a basketball hoop or any number of other outdoor items including fencing and hedges.
They have provisions in the deed to make appearance uniform - boringly uniform.

Hi Gravid that pole clothes dryer is called a Hills Hoist and most Australian households have one, although now you can get the ones that you can take out and pack away when you do not need to use them. But personally I prefer the old normal type because the new ones tend to get tangled when removed from the ground and they are made of a much lighter material and will not last nearly as long as the old hoist. The old type are really good to cover and use as shade when you are having a party as well, and you can't do that with the new ones. Here is a link about the Aussie Hills Hoist.

http://www.hills.com.au/html/story2.html

I should also mention that the speed camera that flashed me was right next to an unmarked police car, so I don't think that anyone could shoot this one out. Mores the pity. LOL

Can we guess who's birthday it is. I know it isn't any of us regulars so who could that cake be for. hmmmmmmm

I am going out tonight so I will not be in later. Don't everyone eat all that cake and make yourself sick.

nettak - Having that unmarked police car at the camera is amusing. First it makes the camera simply a labor saving device - the cops sit there instead of watching and stopping those running the red light.
Second I sure would not want to be sitting in a patrol car under a camera when a crazed Texan with an antitank weapon came by. He might just be tempted to go for the car first then reload. Some of those things can reach out 3000 meters but I doubt if they could hit a target as small as a camera box from more than 1500 meters.
We had someone last year rob an armored car here in Detroit with an antique antitank weapon - didn't shoot it because the crew took one look at it and walked away and left the truck for them. Kinda nervy really.
We have a judge out in California now that has dismissed hundreds of these tickets because they are actually issued by a civilian company without police powers, and they get $70 of every fine so there is a conflict of interest that would motivate them to issue against an innocent party.
I would love to see what a q-switched laser would do to one. I have a friend has one that will crank out 5 megawatts for a short pulse. They have a flash on these cameras so you know the shutter is open when it is going off and could time it off the flash. I am sure it would vaporize the film or if it is electronic fry the sensor but I doubt it would create enough of a shock wave to blow the case open so you knew it worked. Vandalism isn't much fun if you can't tell it went boom.

That Hill fellow was perceptive. I hope he enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Yjanks for the link.

P.S. Thanks J - I'll forgive you since you spared me the full quota of candles (obviously concerned about the fire hazard!)

Hi nettak, I haven't checked but the boat is probably on the bottom of the harbour!

Geez Bob I hope Enchanted managed to jump ship before she went down. LOL

Oh my how did you survive without the putor, I can lend you a generator, it would power the putor but probably not much else, or you could choose to plug the beer fridge in first so you have a coldie or two on hand. You know so that the SES men don't run out of steam while they are removing the trees from the roof ect.

Hi gang!

Before I forget, Happy Belated Birthday Mama Michelle!!!

Well, the good news is my ultrasound didn't show any stones. But, there's definitely something going on with the pain I keep having! So I have another appointment Monday morning to see what's next. I swear, I've about had my share of doctor's visits to last the rest of my life the past year or two! So again, I must wait to find the answer.

Hubby & brother's website is up & running and submitted to the search engines now. No orders yet, but keeping my fingers crossed!! I've been having to dip into that, um, overpayment of my severance to keep us afloat. I hope they don't decide anytime soon that they want it back...I still need to contact a lawyer soon if I'm going to pursue that avenue. We shall see.

So, where's the party boat??

Hi Mouse!

I'm glad to hear that there are no stones. Perhaps it's just because you're under a lot of stress at the moment? I know that I get awful stomach pains/spasms when I'm under stress!

How's Pogo coming along?

Sorry I did not mean to be rude and jump ship but after Bob said about the wild weather down in Melbourne I thought I had better make sure my sister and her family were okay. I just got off the phone from talking to her and they are all fine, in fact the storm never even went near them. They did get some heavy wind but it did not do any damage.
