Linda K...

I know Shosh said it...she hates Bush and she's volatile. Some of my best friends hate Bush... I just consider it angry rhetoric, like some of my very own.

I truly hope no one brings up all the many and varied assinine things I've said.

Linda_K:

Sorry I didn't respond earlier.

You wrote:

"iamsam - You said, "...every member of this administration has held a news conference except for the one's that's in charge"

You also aren't watching the news. President Bush has in the last two days, given statements/interviews on TV at least five or six times."

Evidently you didn't read what I wrote. I said he hasn't given any news conference, and he hasn't. I never said he hadn't made statements. Big difference there.

"He is saying he's not going to answer questions that are about what's going on with our intellegence agencies, and rightfully so. Our nation has just been attacked, and plans are being made as more information is accumulated. Do you really think he's going to give a blow by blow announcement about what decisions are being made? I can't believe you'd expect that from any one."

Where you got the idea that I want him to give away our nation's secrets I have no idea. That's just silly.
We've had news conferences from various members of the administration, but none from the President. I believe seeing him out there answering questions would go a long way to reassuring the country right now. If you read the article that Donny linked to it says what I meant far better than I seem to be able to.

hepburn, you need to relax a bit. You seem very angry, which is understandable at this time.

I had no idea you thought my posts were "constant interferences". They are just my opinions, nothing more.

As far as prooving me wrong, what are you referring to?

sigh. As far as prooving me wrong, what are you referring to?. You said it yourself in your own post. Go back and read it. Never mind. Wasting my breath.

And now youre presuming to tell me to calm down because I seem upset? Stop it. You dont know anything about me or what I think or feel. Actually, Im fine. Just irritated just a wee bit. Nothing serious.

Toke - I understand what you're saying, and usually I'd agree. In this case it was kraftdinner, IMO, implying inside was not telling the truth.

KD has done this to me before. Told me how what I read, I was reading the wrong way. (Other than the way they were intented.)

Three people admitted to seeing those words, but KD just knew they were in jest. But as usual on these boards, if it's a friend of the poster they're right, and the other person (usually the Republican) is left looking like they are not telling the truth.

Anyone reading those words can make up their own mind. I don't expect to be in the majority here. I know Shosh's well respected, but even she has to 'own her own words'.

My posting of that thread was not to put Shosh on trial...but as any long time poster here knows, we must 'own our words' whether we're a 'favorite' poster or not.

Edited to finish sentence.

We just got back and they showed a short replay , he looked tired, or he had tears in his eyes.

He is going to New York tommorow.

I think he did very good under these circumstances.

I didn't see the whole thing...just the last few minutes. He was his usual self...meaning well, but inarticulate. He's just not good at that stuff, IMO. Most importantly to me, he does seem to be sincere. That is a breath of fresh air.

This is a quote hepburn made in the "Spread it around" thread.....

"Kraftdinner, I like your balancing threads "

Hmmmmmm......

LindaK, if I interpreted something incorrectly, then surely the poster who made the original comment would have let me know. I haven't seen that yet, but appreciate where you (and hepburn) are coming from.

Touche'. You found one of my assinine posts in that thread. A recent one, too.

BTW, feel good threads are no longer allowed here, because someone will find something to complain about. Regardless of the intent. So no worries, I wont be doing that again. Guess it will haunt me in one of my "fluff" moments which are few and far between.

There were several Bush interviews today. They are showing the correct version to the correct person. Some saw a man resolved to take action, some saw an idiot, some saw a weakling, some saw determination. It was set up to give each person what they wanted to see.

No matter what your take on the President is you'll find the press conference will enforce that view. It was an amazing electronic techological achievement to be able to broadcast the proper version to the proper person.

Sorry if I misread your post. I just know I've seen President Bush on tv giving many short talks. Whatever you call them. Telling the American public that they are working on finding out who has perpetrated this atrocity upon our nation. I just don't see how he can be sharing much more than he is with the nation.

Also....I'm in a mood. Sitting here listening to the tv reports of all the body parts they're finding. Just like most everyone else, I'm nervous about our future and what direction we're headed in.

I just got home for lunch and missed this press conference. Will have to wait until this eveing to see a replay.

I will admit that I am glad to hear that he's finally done a full-blown press conference. One has been needed. The use of a teleprompter won't bother me--the man has *no* public speaking skills and a poor grasp on the English language in general & needs one to get through a speech coherently. What I am interested in is the *content* of what he has to say. His stance so far has garnered the first approval from me for anything he has said or done.

Yes, he's our president. But that does not exempt him from the scrutiny of the citizens. The fact that we Americans *can* criticise our leaders and the jobs they are doing (which they are elected to do) is one of the things that makes this country great. The few times in the past that people blindly followed without critical thinking resulted in things like the Alien & Sedition Acts and the Japanese, German & Italian Internments which stand as blots in our history.

If we don't support the rights of others to say what they wish--even when we don't agree with it--how can we expect to have that freedom ourselves?

What is all this angst and melodrama about the denial of free speech (earlier in the thread)? The only one around here that seems to have lost it, in any fashion whatsoever, is inside.

I don't agree with those, including some in Congress, who thought Bush should have gone back to DC immediately.

Were I in charge of his security, I, too, would have kept him away from DC. After all, the Pentagon had been hit and at that time who really knew that there wasn't more to come.

I was very surprised that it was announced today that he would be going to NY tomorrow.
Go, but don't announce it to the world.

Sorry if I'm on a different page, so to speak, but I'm busy today.

Toke,

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm busy today, so I can only pop in and out for short periods of time.

Therefore my angst and melodrama will be just a little late today.

Not being glued to the board, does not mean I can't express an opinion on something I read.

So there.
