I did understand you. I was just thinking of the people in that part of the world who support and are sympathetic to the terrorist's message. (The people in the streets burning flags or quitely sitting in their homes watching us on CNN...and thinking we are dirt.) They see us how you desribed us, which unfortunately is how we are.

As a nation we are so very self absorbed and so foolish in our frivolous persuits. What good we have, they don't see. They see TV.

How to change it is the question.

I think shadow cat makes some good points. Its true, we think it is the end of the world when it happens to us. We say we have a global economy but that is far as we want to take it. We just don't see that we are part of the entire world. You know another thing is I hear people blaming the Clinton Administration for dropping the ball on national security, well I blame the republicans as well. They spent more time an energy on a tabloid jerry springer attack on Clintons sex life than they did on national security, it makes me so mad. I sat right in my living room and said to my family, this insane fight is going to be a threat to our national security, I swear I said it. That huge fight was the beginning of my personal fear of not feeling protected by my leaders. It seemed they all had lost their common sense on both sides. I was ashamed that we were presenting ourselves to the entire world as idiots and we were! China made off with nuke secrets and who knows what else. I am really afraid for the leadership of this country. As you said Jt, they are burning flags etc because they have been raised on hatred, but they also want Israel and that is another pretty heavy duty topic.

Shadowcat, you may be very correct that these recent incidents have NOTHING to do with the end of times coming soon.

I believe it will come and will be exactly what is said in the Bible but to try and predict when is foolish non-sense. Speculation is nothing more than empty speculation.

Religious groups do the majority of efforts overseas as Artdoggy said. They do good in an uncaring world and that is often overlooked.

But I agree...America as a whole is about me, me, me and I want it right now to heck with anyone who poops on my happy party.

We as a nation need to wake up and get our hearts right.

"but they also want Israel and that is another pretty heavy duty topic."

Yes, that is a whole different topic.

God? We were talking about God, who He is, where He fits in.

Maybe to tie it together...is their God also our God?

Night.

Artdoggy and jt oh yes isn't it wonderful that the Christians go help all those poor people in other countries. Seems to me right now there are at least eight of them going on trial for preaching and trying to convert Muslims into Christians.

Not only have the terriorists managed to kill our people on our soil, they have also accomplished something I else I never thought I would see. Fighting amoung ourselves, and putting the blame of this horrible thing on us. And it seems to me it is again the Christians leading the parade.

We as a country and of individuals have certainly made mistakes but don't tell me how selfish we are and this is our fault. How much money have we given, help in natural disasters, and in so many other ways. We jump in and help without asking for anything in return.

We were doing so well until you decided to start 3 threads about the weenie.
Shesh. Take a deep breath, artdoggy

I didn't say we are to blame. I said we are selfish. Different thing entirely.
Violence to make a point is always wrong.

I will pray for those Christians who are on trial.

~At the same time that I pray for the Muslims.

Yeah, I know our country does a lot of good collectively. Its true. But are you not glad that muslims don't go on trial here for sharing their beliefs? Are you not really glad that the founding fathers of this country were Christians and set up a constitution based on Christian principles? Christianity promotes tolerance and forgiveness, sharing and love. If a country puts a Christian on trial for sharing his beliefs, what does it say about that country?

Terri, I am still pretty mad about the "weenie roast". I think both the republicans and the democratics were horrible. I think their weenie fight put us in a position of weakness. If that is the worst thing the President is doing then chastise him behind closed doors. Clinton's weenie was not my concern. I still have a bad taste in my mouth for that entire thing (pardon the pun I couldn't help it)

I'm leaving this thread for the time being too. I'm very angry and I'm afraid I will say things that will bring in the mods and they will do more than slap my hands.

Artdoggy There's not any great need on my part for you to believe what I tell you. I only expressed my understanding of God based on my experiences.

How can you trust Jesus if you believe that the entire world has different names for the same God? You can call a tree in your backyard God but that does not make it God. Egyptians worshiped cats...most Americans worship money.

I'm not quite sure where you're going with the question. But, "we" give God his name depending on the path we have taken toward him. There is only one God and He is the God of all - not just Christians.

As to your comments about good verses evil. I think we both agree that it exist but probably differ on our ideas of how and why. Most Christians believe in a God of judgment and punishment. So, you're in good company. I just don't agree. When I say God doesn't punish us - I don't mean to imply that we don't suffer the consequences of wrong choices. I just mean that God isn't standing up there making notes in a book to indict you with on some far off Judgment Day. Each day and each moment of our lives we reap the consequences of our choices and the choices of others.

JT My comments on this thread were to present my views for Hepburn and anyone else seeking comfort to consider. I knew when I offered it that it differed from your beliefs. I'm quite aware that it goes against the grain of the Christian belief system. But, Christians didn't invent God. I respect your right to the path you have chosen. But, just as a lot of people won't agree with what I've said - I respectfully don't agree with everything you've said.

Not paranoid anywhere else but here!

mybiddness...

As always, I admire your style. You can even talk about religion without proselytizing. It's a miracle...
