On Fox Cable Saturday night, they told the story of the terrorist who moved into a middle class/upscale community. His child attended American tax funded schools, his wife attended society events, in other words, they totally integrated into American Society. Then three days before the Tuesday disaster, his wife and child were sent back to Saudi. Abandonded the house, all furniture, clothing, towels, dishes, everything. Then on Tuesday, he boarded and plane and the rest is history.

How many of us have Middle Eastern people living in our communities?

I will never shoot their windows, contront them in public, spit on them, harass them, or any other hate crime. However, if the terrorists were so able to integrate into our society, how many of them are left? How do we know?

Bush is telling us that we are evil if we threaten them, the Middle Eastern people are being told to report hate crimes, yet there are still terrorists still among us. This was well orchestrated, it was not accomplished by 19 individualists. There are more here and how do we know which ones they are?

I have quietly walked out of two gas stations and one fast food restaurant this weekend because they were run or owned by Middle Easterners. That is my choice. Furthermore, if they are here on Visas, I believe they should be deported.

There was a comment posted earlier about bin Ladin's brother.

FYI

I thought the news reported his family has basically disowned him, so we shouldn't assume they hold the same beliefs.

Valleygirl: Terrorists come from all national/ethnic backgrounds. And what if we are wrong about who did this? Perhaps the hijackers were hired by another group that is hiding behind a clever smokescreen? Suppose it was someone in the UK who is ticked by all the support given to the IRA by Americans of Irish descent? Should all Irish Americans be investigated? Deported? Boycotted? What if it was a South American terrorist group? African? Chinese?

There is HUGE support for the IRA in the Boston area...not to mention Irish illegals. Nobody seems to care much, as far as I can see.

First of all, they know who are (and the nationality of) the 19 terrorists. Secondly, I am not talking about Americans.

I hate the terms Irish-American, African-American, Mexican-American, Etc. As I learned in the 50's in grade school, we are all Americans. Just Americans. The term used then was "melting pot". This meant that the immigrants "adopted" their new country and became citizens, and embraced their new title: AMERICAN. Most people who claim to be XXXXX-American have not seen XXXXX Country in 6 - 8 generations.

If we were are required to name our heritage before we can say the word "American", then I would be Swedish/German/Scandanavian/Dutch-American. But, the Swedish is 5 generations ago. The Dutch is 8, German 4, and Scandanavian 6. Nope, I'm an American. Just AMERICAN. No fancy titles before the American. If one is a citizen then one is American.

My previous post was in reference to non-americans in this country. I sincerely doubt any of the terrorists were AMERICAN. Most had Saudi passports.

Valleygirl: personally, I agree with you regarding "XXX-American" but in this multicultural era the terms dominate.

However, though you speak of the American "melting pot," your first post on this page shows support of a "stew"--one in which you would pick out the ingredients you don't like & throw them out.

I wondered about the children involved. It didn't give the age, but from the article I assumed around 10 years old. (The article I read was in the National Post, and mentioned soccer games, birthday parties at bowling alleys, etc).

How would this child react, growing up in the American culture, surrounded by American children, and then finding out what his father did? (I am assuming the child would find out, as reports have said that these terrorists may become heroes in their countries).

Others I have discussed this with feel that the child/children would have been 'in the know' (ie. Americans are very bad, need to be dealth with - but keep up a front). I cannot believe a child could do this though.

So, what will this child be going through now?

Update: The real estate company reported this incident, in light of the fact that a number of people in this area are being investigated, including the doctor who bought at least one of the hijacker's tickets on his credit card.

FBI also picked up some other men associated with this group, who were trying to get on a flight to San Antonio, where the doctor lives.

Thanks for the update bearmom. Do you know if the FBI has been to the house, and if it's still on the market?
Was he a single man or did he have a family? Did he dispose of his furiture before he left?
