Hi Snowy,

Where the heck have you been?

And don't give me this blah! blah! about having a life outside this board.

Hey, if it's not too late, can't AW let the laid off workers come on over here & we'll host 'em a farewell party?...The RT folks are real good at throwin' cyber parties and everyone could probably use the distraction!

It's all my fault because I complained about the endless pop-ups.

I've been working around them, AW. I don't mind. Honest!!

I hope they (AW) at least warn us before they zap the forums. We can have a really BIG party. But, Im hoping that party is never given and the forums stay here.

Snowy, think positive. They might shut down some of the forum, but Im BELIEVING they will not shut down the EO or RT. Like I said, one big glob. Cross your fingers.

Hey everyone,

Don't go be making reservations elsewhere. You still have a table reserved here. I'll even put candles on it.

The market value of an internet company is directly related to revenues AND traffic. There is a great deal of traffic(hits etc.) and "stickiness" here, that is the amount of time a person logging on stays on. This translates to more clicks on links and cobranded affiliates and subsequently more revenue. Therefore, I would be very surprised to see AW shut down the chats!

Is that a promise, Pat? Because if the forums go POOF, then you DO know that the table you have a candle on has to be the one in your house. Can you imagine all of us gathering in RL at your place? LOL!

AW's message board is the finest around. I've seen a lot of other message boards and while they may have more freedom, they also have much less value. Strange how it would work out that way isn't it? Losing the freedom to have a pissing match isn't without merit.

Every now and then a moderator gets out of line and gives me a warning, but hey... mistakes happen, I forgive them.

Thank God they decided to keep Pat Taylor. Otherwise my world would have come crashing down around me. Sounds like ... plop!

For the mods:

Some got six months, some got one solid,
But me and my buddy, we got a lifetime here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, SNOWY!!!

Sorry, I pooped out last night. I was late making my AW rounds, so by the time I got here I was tired. But, couldn't shut down without my evening AW fix.

The board of directors met last night, the vote was 4 to 3. They really do like forums, but can't see how to make money.

If you can't afford a quarter, then you ought to give a dime. If everybody gave then we could save the AuctionWatch line.

Which means what? They will shut this place down? Dont they make enough money with the fees they are charging? And if people did a small donation like other boards (ezboard charges 30 bucks for 6 months I think; another board is 1 dollar per month for someone to own their own forum within the board) then AW might keep AW forums? And last but not least, will AW inform the posters in advance IF they shut the place down?

Nah, Al. You have been here off and on for some time, so this one doesnt count. 'Sides, I see you at other places and at least one of them isnt folding (that I know of).

One method of raising funds on the message boards would be to impose fines. If I unleashed a diatribe against another member then AW would bill me for that . I see myself getting a bill for a couple of attacks right off the bat. AW could run specials on occasions "October Special: 3 diatribes for the price of 2." Then with futher thought I see it as a bad idea, I see some going into the poor house.

uaru: Do manifestos count, or does it have to be a diatribe?

You'd probably want to have both counted as the same. If you did offer different prices for manifestos and diatribes you'd have to have clear definitions on what the qualifications were. I could see diatribes on manifestos being billed as diatribes, it could get ugly.

Either way Barry, if they predate billing it'll threaten you solvency.
