Spaz, everybody knows who you REALLY are, but simply having been here too long does not establish that you are not also spaz.

I second, third and fourth the grandfathering thingy (already posted the same on the EO thread before I read this one)

Mark, I have been a poster on this board since Oct of 1998...if you don't know WHO I am by now...well, what can I say?

You have a large number of loyal users who have proven over the years that they are serious and don't intend to disrupt the boards. You should at least grandfather in the current posters.

AW started in the Summer (I believe July) of 1998. I lurked here regularly and read before activating my Granny Fox account in December of that same year. Times have changed and so has AW. I don't stop in that often any more, but there are some of you that I don't "see" elsewhere and I come here every now and again to see how ya all are doing.

I miss you and will continue to miss you, but it will be a cold day in hell before I give AW my cc info just so I can post on their boards...they all know me, they all know how to reach me. I don't use their tools...there is NO reason for them to have access to any cc number when errors are so easily made.

So I guess this is Good-by to many of ya. Have a good one folks, enjoy life online and off.

Sush Ken, I never clamed I could spell well...just better than Fuzzie can

Just dont cuss or get your tail fluffed...dont wanna be charged for excess fur all over the place.

Seriously, someone please answer her question. What if someone DOESNT have a CC? Then what?

Long time no see...if in fact you are who you say you are

Hi shadowcat,

Unfortunately, when we transition over, message center permissions will be tied to account info on file - if there is no cc info on file, posting will be impossible. I wish I had better news on this - we are looking at accepting alternate methods of payment and/or ID verification at some point, but there is nothing in place now that will allow it now.

I'm really sorry about that...

Hep: I despaired of what to do if I needed to fluff my tail since I am currently fur-less but the tom was on the ball and provided me with a selection of tailwigs that have little airpumps. All I have to do now is stick the tailwig to my butt like so...

...*swack*...

...and then pump up the fur like this...

...*phoot*phoot*phoot*phoot*...

...See?

Granted, it's not as easy as just fluffing, but it will do.

LOL Amy...you were one of those early characters that I watched.

My first post here started out...

OK, the #*!@ has hit the fan. (Remember?)

Bet I can't say that any more

And I never used the dots...

One time someone (krs?) said the dots annoyed him when someone else used them...I made them my trademark them.

They haven't replied to the several queries about grandfathering. That could certainly be done, if they chose to, S-Kitty.

Diana...

What about grandfathering?

Granny...and the discussion groups for OAUA formation. DCJ and I spent so much time on the phone about the report of the town hall meeting that I almost felt like she was my sister when I finally met her in person.

We had a lot of fun then, didn't we?

We should try to round up all the former posters and have a giant Halloween party on the 31st.

DCJ...are you listening?

Diana --

When will the transition be completed? IOW, when do those of us, without a cc on file, get the boot?

Well, let me add my 2 cents in here too. I do not post a lot here, but I do lurk. Have been lurking and posting now and then for quite a while now. I've met a lot of great people here, and have enjoyed reading many posts.

I honestly do not see how giving AW my credit card information is going to make me a more reputable poster. As someone else stated earlier, I am not BUYING anything here, just posting. Do you really think that this will keep the trolls at bay??

Now, there will be no moderation? So if two posters who DO register with their cc info are two personalites that do not get along and the bickering and name calling starts flying, no one will intervene? Yeah, right.

And, I think that it bites that people who do not have (for whatever reason) a credit card will now be penalized. I just do not believe that this is the real reason you are doing this. I'm sure time will tell.

So, with that, I wish everyone a fond farewell and hope to chat with you again. Peace to all......

Eriu

Of course they could!! IF they wanted to. After all, they are the ones making the rules so they can do anything they want.

I don't get over here much anymore either, but I'll sure miss posting here. I've got a CC, but I'm not using it for something like this.

This place was a great help to me when I first started doing eBay. I have always referred people who are just getting started with online auctions to AW. I don't know where I'll refer them to now, but it won't be to a place that wants your CC so you can ask a question.

Hope to run into ya'll someplace sometime.

Someone earlier said they thought this was just a step for the forums to be shut down, period. Im tending to agree with that now. Have you looked at EO? They are bailing.

I am taking this opportunity to say hello to
some friends (not knowing what the future will bring) and saying thank you to the oldtimers and those who came in and became a part of AW over the past couple of years.
You have all given me food for thought, entertainment, new ways of thinking about old ideas and some of you have given me friendship (very precious indeed).
I hope everyone finds their way and I am always going to remember what was good and positive and let the rest ride.
Sad and confusing times for so many... sure hope for better days ahead.
Take care and stay safe!

One good thing I can say about this whole thing is all the people I havent seen in forever are dropping by, even if only to say goodbye.

Nobsy, Im sorry I had to play dumb about Enya the last time you were here, but if I went on about her (and sean connery), it would have given me away for sure. Anyway...good to see you, even under these conditions, and Im hoping you love your enya cd as much as I love mine

Hi to eriu and kris, too.

How about this hypothisis? AW really intends to close the message boards. But, they don't want to be "the bad guys", so they put into place this new rule. When the people don't bite

Even if that isn't what they plan, it is what will happen.

Even if I had a CC, Hell would freeze over before I used it in such a manner.

I heard that.

AW doesn't know me by now, then when? It's a little late to be asking me for proof of my existence...and to what purpose, anyway? Same old IP address guys.

I heard this also. That is how message boards are policed, with IP address banning, not CC's.

Some of us have been here for years. Surely we have proven ourselves capable of "responsible posting" by now.

One would think. Hey, wan't it you that said "we can infest any message center and bend it to our will"? Now's the time

we are looking at accepting alternate methods of payment and/or ID verification at some point

Note the bolded part.
