Bitty: If this is where you come for intelligent discussion, that says a lot about your life, doesn't it?

Hi K

I am pretty sure the incident with my brother was in 1979 too, though it may have been '78.

Is that the brother that stays with you at times?

While the boards are still moderated, please keep your comments to the subject matter and not about each other.

Thanks,

THE ROUNDTABLE- A place to kick back, relax, and have fun! Share a story, tell a joke, write a poem, make a friend...Murial is right.

I have serious doubts about there being elections in 3 years.

I can see a lot of things happening in the next 3 years, but not this. That would start a revolt, and I think even Bush is smart enough to realize that.

No...that is judgemental.

I have much more fun having an intelligent conversation than I do watching someone have their own idea of fun.

If someone does not have fun in this type of thread they should find or start one where they do, but not try to stop my relaxation and fun.

Bitty, with all due respect, if you will look back, I was merely voicing an opinion on the subject of George Bush. You were the one who assumed I was looking for fluff. I don't normally join in on these threads by choice, but don't I have a right to join in if I so choose?

Yes, Bittybug, that's exactly it about trying to impose a particular idea about fun on everyone else.

You will notice, however, no one who enjoys the more serious threads, ever tries to interupt or derail one of the so-called fluff threads and insist that they shouldn't be considered fun, etc. It's only a small number of the so-called fluff advocates who constantly criticize and try to shut down the more serious discussions. Doesn't it make you wonder what all that is really about?

krs states:

One thing about that picture of Al gore above, don't you agree? Beard or no beard one thing is very apparent. When you look at his eyes you recognize immediately that there's intelligence behind them; very much unlike those of dumbya, whose eyes are consistently vacant and dull.

Oh, that is a rich assessment! You would think that with all the State Fairs these two candidates attended that would certainly be spotted by all those shrewd judges of breeding and comportment. You should have notified the world of your insightful conclusions prior to the election.

Good one!

LOL

Well, at least he doesn't look cross-eyed or as if he just woke up out of some stupor...

Not implying anything about any other politician - total innocent that I am...

intellects corner, I like the sound of it. a place where you personally insult a woman's lifestyle and tell her that her head is up her butt because she has a different opinion. how enlightening. the brilliance is blinding.

OK folks...please drop the BB and just call me Charlotte. There is not enough time left to take on the new ID...

Muriel, I never said you could not join in. I think you could have avoided attacking Ken during your opinion about Bush and I think you could have been a little less hostile (grouchy) towards me. I actually was not referring to you when I said anything about sticking one's head up their own butt, though I do see that you took it quite personally. I was speacking of people that choose to ignore world events that are concerning in an attempt to feel safe...hiding in inconsequential activites assuring themselves that bad events are far away and of no concern to them. I don't know you well enough to know if you are one of these people, but there are many who are.

Dan...yes, I do notice that, online and off. Is there some great "fun" authority that has determined what has to be fun? Did I miss seeing this on the news?

breinhold: Muriel just automatically assumed Charlotte meant that and having assumed that, then attacked Charlotte...

Charlotte didn't say that about Muriel...

I don't think "intellects' corner" was ever one of the names proposed for this forum now known as Round Table (the users actually got to name it, breinhold -- it used to be called "General Discussions" but I guess that sounded too military ).

Of all the names suggested for the forum, my personal favorite was "Captain Picard's Forehead." But as you can see, that name didn't make the final cut.

Me and Muriel do this every now and again. I make a statement and she feels it is about her, because I am talking to her (not about her,,,a generalized statement). But so far we have always worked it out and I am sure we will this time too.

Yes, it's the new fun police, Charlotte. An interesting inversion of the inquisition. If others don't enjoy exactly the same things as you do, you are obligated to harass them until they see the light and learn to fully enjoy themselves according to your own definition of fun. The world will then be a better place for everyone.

I didn't have to look back, but Muriel may want to and see that in no way is the following true:

The first post by muriel to the thread is:

Muriel posted on October 26, 2001 02:50:46 PM

"Ken: Perhaps you would be more comfortable in Afghanastan living under the Taliban rule. You sure don't seem happy living in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

It's so easy to sit at the computer and criticize our President. And here's a big surprise - I'm a Democrat! How long do you
think you would last living in Iran and publicly stating your displeasure with the country's leadership?"
"There are some things - and yes, some people - that I won't miss at AW". Muriel

There's that 'some people' again. But I don't see any mention of a name other than mine, muriel.
