Ohandrea: I am using IE version 5. As I recall, when I used the export wizard it creates a file called "bookmark.html" which listed all the links. Then, when I wanted to import all those links back into Favorites, I just used the wizard to indicate where the "bookmark.html" file was located and the wizard took it from there.

As far as "housekeeping" and deleting Favorites is concerned, I highly recommend a freeware program called AM-deadlink:

http://aignes.com/
(Click on freeware on the left menu)

This program checks out all your favorites and indicatese if the links are still valid. You can also sort the list of favorites to easily see if you have bookmarked the same site more than once. Deleting favorites is easy. Just a right click on the url listed for the menu. Several favorites can be deleted in one step.

Thanks for that link!!! If you have any questions, don't ask me. LOLOL

My husband is watching a football game while I struggle with this stuff. I think that I will tell him that I need a flat screen in order to view the XP version of FTP.

Not sure if this will help...but I found a support page for WS_FTP.

http://www.ipswitch.com/support/index.html

There are tutorials and other helps there.

Great!
That is exactly what I need.
Thanks, Helen

I wish that you would set up a thread here for computer dummies...I would pay a fee for that! LoL

The registration issue is also important if one changes parts around in the 'puter(like we do. The tom builds his own 'puters). Every time a part is switched around or a new part is added, one will have to go through the entire registration process again. Then there's the craps' shoot as to whether or not XP will recognize the added hardware...

There's also some rumblings that Microsoft has set up the registration process so a business has to buy XP for EACH computer in which it will be installed instead of buying one and installing it on all the requisite computers, as is done with other Windows products. The increased costs to businesses will be marked.

Frankly, I'm uncomfortable with the level of control Microsoft wants over my 'puter.

Shadowcat.....My at this point (damn) husband also builds our own computers. He had me do something fancy to transfer my "favorites" bookmarks, and now I'm totally lost and he's watching the ball game and doesn't want to come help me out of this mess!

BTW, we went to the movies Saturday with our friend who has the stage IV yuckies.....he is doing great, no nausea, his hair fell out but it's growing back a sexy white fuzz (really, he looks very dashing!), and the prognosis is looking very good! Hope all is good with you!

Stockticker.....I wish I'd seen your advice before I followed the DH's instructions!

But the good news is MS is offering a 10% mail in discount on all XP purchases
for their networking customers...that’s $800 (less 10% )in upgrades for
for us...Thanks Bill like you need the money...Oh BTW today is his 46 birthday.

Ohandrea: I'm at the fuzz stage myself. I have new cowlicks where none existed before and I fear that every day will become a bad hair day with the cowlicks governing the directions of patches of hair.

I'm doing fine, thanks. I find out tomorrow if I'm officially in remission(and if I can get my catheter removed).
