Now they're saying the Redcross was on the hit list because the Taliban were stealing food that was stored there.

Bush is a zero year President anyway so I never figured he had a chance. What difference will it make?

So just suppose that somone advised Bush that he NEEDS to go to the game to reassure America, and suppose something does happen.

We would be immediately a police state, correct?

Who would WANT that to happen? I have no idea. Therefore I ask.

*I could be off the deep end in a big way but you don't know that for sure*

If they are just Chicken Little and are crying the sky is falling, it isn't going to work forever. Huh?

Spaz - VERY good point there, re: diversions and keeping people scared so they don't question anything. Highly likely.

By the way Spaz, I have NO idea if this was accurate, but someone told me you might be coming to our show Nov 2? I would LOVE to see you at a show, but the Nov 2 one was postponed - Kevin (whose band it is) is in Nashville right now. He said it will be a December date instead. If you really CAN come, that would be AWESOME! I always update my web site with our gigs. Check out the dates here on the "Appearances" page. Oops am I allowed to post my web site here? Or can it get me suspended on the second to last day? www.jantilley.com

Why in the world do they keep telling the world where Bush is going to be? Hell, they may as well put a target on him.

How many people really need to know in advance that he will attend the World Series.

There are some things that do not need to be announced.

What exactly are we supposed to do differently when "high alerts" are issued? Are we supposed to cancel our travel arrangements, stay out of high rise buildings, not open any mail, etc.? It's one thing to alert the military and intelligence communities, but what are civilians supposed to do or not do other than panic? I think it's a stupid thing to release this "alert"! Nothing good can come from it.

I agree Femme.

Look here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59509-2001Oct26.html

I propose that Bin Laden was behind the attack and that our "second threat" was just waiting in the wings for the inevitable to happen. (We have expected this for years in some form.)

But who is the "lurker"?

Yeah this kind of "alert" is a big damn help. It reminds me of like, when someone says to you "GASP! You got a bug on you!!!" and you say "WHERE? Get it offa me!" and they don't, they just run from you. I hate it when that happens.

Most of the time when we(meaning the military community overseas) are alerted of a threat, there's also concrete information about the threat. There usually is nothing vague since we always live under a vague threat anyway.

For example, a few years ago the German gov't notified the base that there was a credible threat that there might be a bombing attempt. They knew this because they had just raided some people who belonged to an organization and bomb-making materials were found on the premises as well as anti-American literature.

(The base responded by battening down the hatches, clearing the schools, sending home non-essential personnel, and sending in the bomb search teams. Fortunately, no bomb was found and business returned to normal the next day).

While I'm not wondering if there is a threat-never assume there is no threat-I'm viewing the vagueness of the report with a good amount of skepticism.

Hi jannie,

I never said a word about going to your show (not that it wouldn't be fun). I don't understand why someone would tell you that. I didn't even say anything remotely close to it that someone might mistake.

Sounds like someone is giving you bad information.

Okay, jannie, I think I figured it out.

In your "Peeking Out from the Smoke" thread, Pocono posted:

Get that website updated with appearence dates, and I'll come down there to the big city and show those freaks how to break it down...HA!

to which you replied:

Next gig is Nov 2 - so put your money where your mouth is Pocono, get your butt down to Don Hill's (rock club on Greenwich and Spring St) and I WILL get you on video. I will sell it on Ebay too.

Whoever told you I was planning to attend may have remembered the above exchange and confused me with Pocono.
