katmommy, Everything I've caught this year has been from somebodys sick kid.I was never sick until I got around these people whos kids stay sick.PS alot of them where fired because their kid was sick all the time and they couldn't come into work, but this was after they gave it to the rest of us.You may think kids are great, but there is a real life without them.To bad some us don't have a choice and somebody else choice has to be forced on us.

This conversation has turned unreal. A "real" life as opposed to a life with kids. It reminds me of a line from the Dennis the Mennis movie.

MAH645,

You sound like my 7 year old who seems to think she knows more then I do. BY THE WAY..Most of us led a life well before we had children and guess what?? We got sick then too! If you are demented enough to think "we" are forcing our children (and the nasty little germs they carry) on you, may I suggest you either work in either a prison or perhaps work from home so you never have to leave the house and encounter those horrid non-adults who, by the way, will be forming the future when they grow up. It's a shame that there are such ignorant people in this world..too bad your Mother didnt feel the need NOT to have children.

I'd like to say I'm glad I never had kids, I wouldn't trade the freedom I've have for it. But Those that did wouldn't trade either.Alot of the flu and whatever IS passed on from kids because there is so many of them. Those of us who are not used to being around this really suffer. You are talking about germs being carried which are from a person not just flowing around in the air at free will. This will get alot worse as there are not the shots available for even the shots required by school to get your child in school which is really stupid, they should be the first. That is the problem with this whole thing, children have a hard time fighting off all these new stains of flu and cold viruses on top of everything they have to battle, and they are going to suffer as well. And the real problem is the schools will not accept them being absent nor will your job.Now what do you do.I don't hate kids, its just that we don't have the medical treatment available to us we should have, and our government is not going to help us and alot of people are going to die in the end at all ages. And I know alot of the problem is they don't want to treat anyone who doesn't have a ton of insurance.I only hope alot of parents are able to get it thru the school.

I get sick quite often due to children. Children's librarians, in general, do. I wish I had a nickel for all the parents who drag their ill children to the library--I'd be rich. I've even had parents *say* this to me: "He (or she) was too sick to go to school...so I brought him to the library." !!!! I even had to throw one mother out of the library once: her son had the worst case of chicken pox I have ever seen (you couldn't see his skin, there were so many pustules) & it was in the infectious stage. She simply couldn't understand why it wasn't OK for her to bring a child with a communicable disease into a public building...
