Hi there, KatyD...Ken...

What a crock of sanctimonious nonsense followed by a chauvinistic insult!

If she had climbed into to a car with a drunk driver and was killed in an accident.
We would have all said she should have known it was coming.

If she were dating a married crime boss and was bragging about it and she "disappeared"
We would have all said she should have known it was coming

But instead she was playing footsie with one of the political power brokers in Congress and bragging about it.
You all want us to believe she was naive and did not see serious trouble on the horizon. Now I at least have more brains than God gave a rock and I could have seen that coming.

I Probably should explain my position on this issue in better detail. It's been my choice to avoid affairs such as Chandra had with Condit. However, I understand and have sympathy for anyone who does become involved in such a relationship.
I believe that it's wrong to judge other people without knowing anything about the situation other that a few newspaper articles.
Ken mentioned the fact that she was not innocent. Nobody in this thread claimed that Chandra was innocent. It's just inappropriate to focus on the fact that Chandra is not innocent one day after the memorial service.
Do we have funerals and discuss our lack of innocence or our "violation of the mores unavoidably instilled into her by life amongst the rest of us."

No, decent people do not.

I takes two people to commit adultery. He commited adultery, SHE commited adultery. I wonder if those defending her being young and in love would feel the same way if it were THEIR spouses that Gary/Chandra fooled around with. Its still wrong and its still immoral.

SHE commited adultery

I never really followed the story. I didn't realize she was married too.

She doesn't have to be married. If an unmarried person has an affair with a married person the unmarried person has committed adultery just as the married person has. Both people committed adultery.

I agree Valleygirl...semantics...geez. She was involved in adultery...without her, there would be no adultery.

I checked both my dictionaries.

Websters dictionary:

Adultery - violation of the marriage vows.

Collins dictionary:

Adultery - sexual unfaithfulness of a husband or wife.

What's the definition in your dictionary, Valleygirl?

If you're religious, I guess the moral law she broke would be the commandment that starts "thou shall not covet....".

Oh what difference does it make now? She's dead. And if whoever killed her is caught, there'll be the same posters here who blame her for being immoral gleefully volunteering to be the one to pull the switch or give the injection. Whatever.

I'm very relaxed, hepburn. Thanks for the thought though. I think it would do you more good. Might get your mind off those troubling thoughts about dead people's misdeeds and all that. Too nice of a night to worry about that stuff, dontcha think?

I don't have a pretty sunset either but I am also VERY relaxed. I'm not fighting with anybody or defending anybody or denying that I am drunk. Ha Ha Ha! (that was for your benefit, Hepburn) . Last night, I found out that I was communicating with people who weren't really who I thought they were LOL! So tonight I'm being a very cool spectator.

Helen, I would be but I have the attention span of a gnat. Just tonight. I prefer to ponder a cryptic message than know what it means. Would spoil it to know the answer.
