jack,

My advice to you would be to let a vet check her out and to give her her shots to protect her from parvo and rabies.

I would make sure that she gets spayed by at least six months of age, before she goes into her first heat.
You do not want to be around when they do as they drive you crazy!
This does not hurt them at all, just no unwanted kittens.
Cats can go into heat 3 or 5 times a year, this will bring every tom for miles around to mate with her.
They make better home pets then as they will not wander too much.

Have fun.

Congrats on the NEW FAMILY MEMBER JACK!

Great pics Kiara LOL

JDK, what a dog I do think he is cute but you can have the slobber!

I have lots of pets, the cat just got put outside he comes in every day talking up a storm, all about his day, chasing girls and birds, yak yak yak, love him but really be quiet for a minute!

my 13 year old flat coated retriver is my best friend he loves kittens, we have had a few litters over the years and the dog lays there watching the birth and then will not leave there side he is on watch, (before the eyes open on the kitten) once one crawled away from mom and kept crying, drove the dog nuts so he took his nose and rolled the 5 day old kitten to the mom to eat!!!

Then one day I opened the door so the critters could come in and out 6 week kittens playing in the sun jumping around outside, next thing I see is this Huge dog of mine with a kitten in his mouth ,
OH I was MAD at him, turns out he soft mouthed it as it was going over the fence about to get away. He brought it home. I still tell him I am sorry he is a good dog!

Later my cat that snuck in the car to go to work...DAIlY

Hope life is treating you well, and take care.

The first time I saw one of my cats trying to bury its food plate, I thought,"hey, if you think the food is so awful, why did you eat so much of it!" Actually, they're probably trying to hide it and save some for later - like dogs and bones.

saabsister is correct. This also seems to be more common with younger cats or stray cats
and once they feel secure in your home they seem to do it less and less.

This could be the worst day for my family in years, I need to put my best friend down today... He is shadow a wonderful flat coated retriever who has never been a bad dog not one day of his 13 years. He won't eat can't walk and can barely see or hear anymore I can't stand to see him suffer, it has happened way before I am ready, not to mention my kids, he raised them with me. My three year old girl sat next to him last night for 20 minutes and sang to him, 3 years olds do nothing for 20 minutes straight and we haven't told her he was sick.
I can't stop crying is this the right thing to do?
I have never had to do this before am I being a baby by falling apart is this normal?

Falling apart is normal and yes, you are doing the right thing.. I had to do the same for my dog. He sat down one day and just could not get up again. He was 14, with lung cancer.

I'm so sorry for you and your family.

Helen

hair2dye4, you're doing the right thing for your friend. It's never easy, but it has to be done to end your pet's suffering. I've had to do this for five cats and a dog and I cry all the way home each time and it doesn't get easier. Each pet has a distinct personality and we've loved them all. (I had my dog put down at home. The vet brought him a KFC chicken meal which she gave him as she gave him a tranquilizer. We buried all our pets in the yard.)

So sorry for you and your family. Yes, it is normal to feel like you do. Pets love us no matter what we are like and they are always there for us, not like many of the people that come and go through our lives.

My thoughts are with you, please take care.

Thanks for your kind words, I did fix him a snack he won't lift his head up to eat but got it down him. A very dear friend is going to take him and hold his paw for me I just can't do this. Every xmas he waited for Santa, he knew which gifts were his and when you said OK shadow he ran and grabbed his presents and very carefully unwrapped them we had so many gifts for him as each person that came to visit wanted to watch him open his gifts each year. I guess I am thankful we have lots of videos and pictures of him.

boy I feel like a whimp I always knew this woud be hard but .....
i am glad this tread was started for the pet lovers Thanks Jack
