If James Hilton hadn't penned Lost Horizon, we would never know what Shangri-La was. It was a fiction and not the real world. Unfortunately many people think it's possible. It's not. Not now, never.
There will always be crooks and scam artists. Always to violence and pacifies, good and evil. It's a real world.
I rather look for the good than the bad. I also try to be rational.
Posters and pictures to instill fear in people have been around for a long time. Hitler used them and so did we in the first and second world wars. They were used during Viet Nam for protesting and are now used by the Christian right for their anti abortion propaganda. They work well for the uninformed.
BTW does anyone here know just why the Viet Nan war finally came to an end?
Amen,
Reverend Colin

Onverwhelming public opposition and corporate opposition led to the end of the viet nam war. It was clear after Johnson's effort that the war could not be won.

The war for all intent and purpose was ended by Nixon on January 23 with the Paris Peace Agreement. Only because he thought it would over shadow Watergate and his impeachment. You would be naive to think it was the huddled masses.

Posters?
Finally! Now we've got you talking instead of taking potshots at the subjects. You agree, but you disagree. You agree that it is a problem, but that it is nothing to worry about, as these things always seem to work themselves out. Correct?
What am I doing? I'm doing what I can. One thing that I do is I get on here and post threads and criticisms about political doings that I deem appropriate. That's one step more than most people, wouldn't you agree?
I'm also not doing it on Joe Blow's teenage make-believe messageboard, but here at the round Table where I believe these sentiments get seen.
I do them so that other people who are disturbed about what is happening can see that they are not alone, and that's very important in starting grass roots resistance and starting change. The Bush Administration and the GOP know this and they have their Republican-owned media shout everyday about the wonderful support Der Fuhrer Bush receives from the American people. Why do they do that? they do it in order to make dissenters feel isolated. Why do you think it was important to have an anti-War rally and march in so many cities on THE SAME DAY? In order to show solidarity and to send the message loud and clear that those who dislike what is going on ARE NOT ALONE.
Therefore, the question is not what *I* am going to do about it. I am already doing something about it. The question is what are YOU going to do about it now?

I have no problem with a war in the middle east. I would do it differently. I would nuke the entire area. As the old Mercenary slogan goes. kill them all and let God sort them out.
I don't blame this alone on the Arab nations. Israel is just as much the blame is not more. I see all this crap about giving Palestine a place. How they weren't a nation. What about the Jews? Who gave them there land?
I like to think were all the chosen people but if I have to be a little more chosen then the rest, So be it. Nuke the rest of them.
Now there's something to be paranoid about.. I'm not the only one that feels this way. There's MILLION's of us out there.
I marched and fought against the Viet Nam war. As did so many at that time. Did all I could with pushing Civil Rights. It wasn't a waste of time. The thing that bothers me most is how the next generation turn out to be Greed little pieces of crap.
Name me one good politician that came out of that time (the 60's, 70's) Okay, Okay except Al Sharpton.
Amen,
Reverend Colin

I'm sure I wouldn't be your type of minister. But I am to others. Is the priest and Misters that support the killing of abortion doctors, to save the unborn, your type of minister?
I'm not one of them.
I'm sure most will know that "killing them all" is tongue in cheek. To make a point. I'm sure you knew that too.
Amen

Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of the connection between the Bible and the mercenary quote. And although this was adequately explained from the link, I have to protest that the conclusions as to church motivations are somewhat skewed and often minimized. I think that if the guesses made by the owner of the web page about the motivation of the Catholic Church were left out it would read much better and less likely to lead someone to the wrong conclusions.

Yes. There were many Conservatives marching for Peace this last week. My point was to those who support the party-line blindly and listen to the lies they broadcast through their mouthpieces and jump to the conclusion that they are politically conservatives. Supporting this government is not something True Conservatives would be doing at this point.
