It is obvious, however, that the United States is bursting at the seams to attack Iraq. I believe that it will do this - not just to take control of Iraqi oil - but because the US administration is now a bloodthirsty wild animal. Bombs are its only vocabulary. Many Americans, we know, are horrified by the posture of their government but seem to be helpless.

Unless Europe finds the solidarity, intelligence, courage and will to challenge and resist US power Europe itself will deserve Alexander Herzen's definition (as quoted in the Guardian newspaper in London recently) "We are not the doctors. We are the disease".

Ted Nugent's show where he "broke a glass ball with the sound of his guitar" was a fake. One of the roadies crept up behind it and hit it with a hammer. He's a phoney.

I don’t think the editor or writer of the text shown by wgm need ever worry about ever being mistaken for someone having compassion.

START QUOTE
I don't care about appearing compassionate (if I don't actually feel it).

I have the right not to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird or make me mad. This is my life to live, and not necessarily up to others pectations.

I believe that if you are selling me a Dairy Queen shake, a pack of cigarettes, or hotel room you do it in English. As of matter of fact, if you are an American citizen you should speak English. My uncles and forefathers shouldn't have had to die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come disrespect ours, and make us bend to your will. Get over it.

I think that being a student doesn't give you any more enlightenment than working at Blockbuster or Jack In The Box.

I didn't take the initiative in inventing the Internet.

Our soldiers did not go to some foreign country and risk their lives in vainand defend our Constitution so that decades later you can tell me it's a living document ever changing and is open to interpretation. The guys who wrote it were light years ahead of anyone today, and they meant what they said; now leave the document alone, or there's going to be trouble.

I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some midlevel governmental functionary with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts squirting out babies.

I will not be frowned upon or be looked down upon or be made to keep silent because I have these beliefs and opinions. I thought this country allowed me that right. I will not conform or compromise just to keep from hurting somebody's feelings. I'm neither angry nor disenfranchised, no matter how desperately the mainstream media would like the world to believe otherwise.

Yes, I guess by some people's definition, I may be a bad American.

But that's tough.
END QUOTE
In response,
What a joke.

Get this through your thick head, next time the UN speaks,
You don’t own the bloody world.

But you apparently do spend as much as the next highest 8 nations in total on ‘defence’.

The USA’s image is increasingly perceived by other nation as being a thug like nation,
And splashing money around doesn’t mean your ‘straight’.

The extremists’ bully tactics aren’t as bad as Hitler’s, don’t be intimidated by their bluffs, and rule your Nation’s ways.
You can hear the sentiment, of the gun-toting extremist, they want it ALL.

It’s a humanitarian disgrace.

If you are an American speak up, each individual has an obligation to humanity.
That’s why Bush got voted in , because so many people didn’t even care to vote.

you, austbounty, are a joke. and you know what? Bush got elected because people DID care enough to vote.

We never claim to own the world, although we do a PRETTY DAMN GOOD JOB at helping support it. If our image is becoming so tarnished, then why are we constantly called upon for aid? It's easy to criticize when you aren't here, isn't it?

(1) Bush was not elected into office, he was appointed into that office by a rouge supreme court.

(2) If he was, as you want to believe no doubt, that he wasn't appointed into office, then recall that the majority of Americans did not vote for him. Therefore, it is not possible for him to have won the election and he can not be our President.

You may think that America does a good job supporting the world,
But the rest of the world doesn’t and you’re outnumbered. So get over it (as some of you like to say)

wgm, If you think the % of citizens which didn’t vote, are not dominated by those more likely to have voted for the ‘left’ wing, then you’ve got bu$hit in your head.

“Bush got elected because people DID care enough to vote”
Yeah---‘just’ enough.
What % of American citizens voted?. Joker.

REAMOND, “If you dont like our cristan nashun, leave.”
I ain’t in your ‘cristan nashun,’ REAMOND,
I wouldn’t want to live there if you paid me, too much inequality.

Are you Italian Catholic like that nice ‘Italian family’ on TV,
‘Everybody Loves Reamond.’
At least Hollywood is doing something to raise acceptance of many minority groups. ROTGLMAO

Helen,
Where do you get this socialist tripe and halve truths?
You forgot the 16,000,000 we killed in W.W.II. You may as well blame us for PolPot, Stalin and while your at it maybe you can hook the Japanese atrocities in the second world war to us too. After all it may not have been as bad if we didn't go to war.

Can't blame us for the Roman dynasty, cause we weren't a nation yet.
Amen,
Reverend Colin

Here is an interesting site.

Hmmmmm, seems most of the Murderers here were either Socialist, Communist, or Totalitarian governments. Guess they have to force their citizens and others to love their systems.

I'll stick with capitalism myself.

For your info,
Many countries are in a capitalist system NOW.
US is up a step, they are ‘imperialist’.

US invented the Internet,
So what, did they invent the wheel too?
Get over it!

You gave the world this and you gave the world that, ‘usurers’ give plenty too.
Like I said, splashing money around doesn’t mean you’re ‘straight’.

I've learned so much from this board.

austbounty invented the kangaroo.

snowyegret hates Ted Nugent because he broke the Osmond Family's Glass ball.

REAMOND thinks all Americans are hayseeds.

Borillar lives in an ivy covered tower in utopia.

Helen works for a the Socialist Worker news paper.

Of course only some of this is true but it never seems to bother some of you to twist or reword what someone says.

I shouldn't have put Helen's name up there. She usually, usually investigates what she writes. I can respect that. Even when it's socialist dribble (in my opinion).

Think before you talk or write. Try to see both sides. Always look for the humor. These things will make your life easier, lower your blood pressure and allow you to look in the mirror and smile.
Amen,
Reverend Colin

Since the annointment of Bush, the "GOOD to say about the U.S.A" has been overwhelmed by the BAD.
No country is all good or all bad. We can be proud of our personal freedoms for example, but not so proud of the gaps in wealth between the rich and the poor.

It is not anti-American or unpatriotic to recognize and challenge faults in the system and protest issues such as war.

A good quote about patriotism...by Emma Goldman: "Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent than the living beings inhabiting any other spot. It is, therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill, and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others."

The lives of Americans are not more important than the lives of Iraqi citizens.

Helen

Helen,

I don't remember calling you unpatriotic or anti-American....

I just asked AustBounty if he had anything GOOD to say about America. (Still waiting for an answer.)

All I ever hear in his tirades is a lot of venomous gobbledygook that I suppose makes sense to him.

No I won’t spit at a returning soldier for being a soldier.
I think that largely they fight for what they believe, or have been drafted and in any case they are ‘true’ men and women.

They tell me that a fish stinks at the head.
That’s who needs a good spit’in.

It’s the minority groups; Blacks and Hispanics and other poor Anglos and European, to which you refuse to lend a hand that go off to fight for you in your demand for Imperialism.

Haven’t you heard that some oil magnates sons’ run away to hide when the action is on.
You should still be spit’in at him.
He’s the one that takes bulldozers to the front lines to bury the US collateral.
But his type are not well represented on ‘the field’.
His type will not permit themselves to be used as ‘pawns’.
