Indeed, conceit, arrogance, and egotism are the essentials of patriotism. Let me illustrate. Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots.......

Bush is a patriot Linda,
Skipping the draft was a patriotic act.
He was thinking of the future presidency, in the interests of the USA.
What a guy, what patriotism.
Any one to suggest otherwise must be unpatriotic.

Emma Goldman was ahead of her times,born 1869 in a Jewish ghetto in Russia
She fought for feminist issues and was deported by J.Edgar Hoover for conspiring to obstruct the draft. She was returned to Russia by J.Edgar Hoover and called one of the most dangerous women in America.
"Emma Goldman has left behind her a number of important contributions to anarchist thought. In particular she is remembered for incorporating the area of sexual politics into anarchism which had only been hinted at by earlier anarchists. Goldman campaigned and went to prison for the right of women to practice birth control. She argued that a political solution was not enough to get rid of the unequal and repressive relations between the sexes. There had to be massive transformation of values and most importantly in womens themselves ."
She argued that women could do this.
First, by asserting herself as a personalities and not as a sex commodity. Second, by refusing the right to anyone over her body; by refusing to bear children unless she wants them; by refusing to be a servant to God, the state, society, the husband, the family etc, by making her life simpler, but deeper and richer. That is, by trying to learn the meaning and substance of life in all its complexities, by freeing herself from fear of public opinion and public condemnation. Only anarchist revolution and not the ballot , will set woman free, will make her a force hither to unknown in the World, a force of divine fire, of giving a creation of free men and women.
She was imprisoned a second time for distributing birth control literature , but her longest sentence resulted from her involvement in setting up 'No Conscription' leagues and organising rallies against the first world war. Goldman and Berkman were arrested in 1917 for conspiring to obstruct the draft and given two years. Afterwards they were stripped of their citizenship and deported along with other undesirable 'Reds' to Russia. J. Edgar Hoover, who directed her deportation hearing called her one of the most dangerous women in America.

"Anarchism is the belief that society should have NO government, laws, policy, or other authority, but should be a free association of all it's members." Emma Goldman was an anarchist.
"Several leading anarchists in Europe including Johann Most and Emma Goldman emigrated to the US. Then both argreed that it was acceptable to use violence to overthow capitalism."
We're talking about patriotism....here's another anarchist who believed and agreed with Emma's preachings that he took it all the way and assassinated US President Mc Kinley.

I kinda thought you might be hiding Linda. LOL!!!! I said nothing about when you could come out again and post.
Your patriotism is unexcelled by anyone, Linda. You will blindly follow Bush, waving your flag as he sends American kids to die fighting his war for oil, power and strategic position in the mid east. In your mind, the thousands of Afghanistans killed and the thousands of Iraqis who will be killed and scarred for life are not as important as your little corner of the world.
But George Bush failed to think about retaliation. That's what happens to cowboy types who act on gut reactions. While the millions of poor people cower and worry in Bagdad about bombs dropping, your little corner will now be in danger too.
Only when we start thinking on an international scale will there be peace in the world. It appears that patriotism to the George Bush administration is getting us nowhere.
