I wonder what all the people marching around with signs really want . . .
Most protest signs say "No War with Iraq" or something negative about President Bush, which seems a bit trite and/or vague.
Maybe next weekend, they can hold another worldwide protest with more articulate signage so everybody is clear as to their goals.
Possible sign verbage we might see:
"Disarm Iraq Peacefully"
"Yay for Saddam!"
"Saddam's Atrocities Don't Count"
"Kuwait Started It!"
"Keep It Up, Saddam,It's Working!"
"I'm Just Here For The Eye Candy"
"This May Be Wrong, But In America I Won't Get Shot For It"

Yours were great, fernchestmotel
Mine...in honor of the protest organizers and the fact that many groups plan these protests for their own different agendas. This way we could sort out who's who:

Linda, get of the horse now! You are going to hurt yourself.
No one has called you names for thinking differently than they do but to accuse anyone that does not support a war effort when there are other options of being Communist, Marxist, Stalinist Anarchist or anti Capitalist. is close minded and appealing to only the lowest common denominator.
Take my hand, let me introduce you to the middleground. You don't have to stay, you can leave anytime you wish, but you need to see that it exists. It won't hurt, I promise

neonmania - Name calling? No, this is not name calling. This is to make those who are unaware of who the organizers/supporters are. Please do the research yourself, as I have done to see WHO the organizers of these protests are....and what groups they have been affiliated with.

OK - Where is this research? I haven't seen research, I saw labels. Additionally, I think that to write the whole effort and crowd off with a single stroke of the "subversive" brush is short minded.
I think it's easier for people to believe that anyone that thinks differently than them is subversive than to come to the realization that their line of thought may not be right.
That type of labeling tends to stem more often from fear than anything else.
BTW - I am dying to hear the results of your research because the only previous evaluation of them comes from the likes of Reamond and Auctionguy whose high end research has brought us "freaks, hippies, and wierdos".

the results were: Just as I posted. Those organizers were people who have known affiliations with the groups in my signs. When I first read an article where someone was claiming this, I didn't really believe it either. Spent most of a day finding group names and reading all I could. Yep...my research supported the statement I had read.
Did I save any of them? No. I wasn't reading it to prove anything to anyone....just wanted to know if the accusation I'd read was true or not. It was.
Where I started was reading a newpaper article that listed the names of the groups that had organized the first protest march in DC. I took those names and did my search on Google. You can do the same.
And just to clarify....when I was adding my protest 'signs' and listed the one's I did, I said it was so we could be more aware of who was who. That in no way included each and everyone who attended the march in one of those groups. Meaning sort those out who had other intentions. Tried to make that point to you when I did my second posted sign.

I found this from a google search of DC warprotest organizers....
::People arrived in Washington by the thousands in buses, vans and cars packed with students, parents, families, and senior citizens. There were Muslim women wearing headscarfs, Catholic priests carrying placards, and children with peace signs on their T-shirts.....
The umbrella organization planning the protest was Act Now to Stop the War and End Racism (ANSWER).
... More than 30 people spoke against the war at the rally, including former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark, the Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network, and Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. ::
So , which were the communists, Which are the Marxists, Which was the Stalinist, and the Anarchist. It's a safe bet that Ben Cohen was not the anti Capitalist. Was Clark the Communist?
You opened the door Linda and I am throwing down the gauntlet.
You stated that your research showed that DC rally organizers consisted of
Communists
Marxists
Stalinists
Anarchists and
Anti-Capitalists.
You stated that this research was done on Google.
You should be able to duplicate the the results. Please show your proof of these statements and accusations. It's one thing to state a personal opinion but when you claim it
s a verifiable fact, be prepared to show just such verification.

neonmania - Do what you wish. If you choose not to research and find out the truth, that's your choice. I know what I read.
Well, Linda if you expect anybody to believe your story, you will have to verify it .
The link above is from our area's most conservative newspaper and there is no mention of the information you reported in their article.

neonmania - One organizer of one of the recent protests was a group called The Workers World Party. I'm not looking up any more for you. And you're the only one I would have taken the time to find this one for.
They are socialists, anti-capitalists;Marxist; and God only know what else. Until 1990 they were funded by Moscow. To me...that tends to look it look like they are/were a Communist supported group. Since 1990...no one seems to know who funds this group. But they have big bucks. I'd like to see our Congress start looking into all these anti-American government groups. Maybe they are...who knows.
I did look for the organizer of the Jan 2003 DC protest. It was in a news article that had reported on who had organized/supported/and spoke at the rally. It was following that protest and it stated the group [other than the name I poster here] that had funded it. That's when I started my search.

Linda: You make these assertions without any documentation. Several here have provided links which prove otherwise. You're beginning to look a bit rabid. What's with the name calling? No one (at least as far as I've read) has called you an imperialist, xenophobic, Neo-Nazi dupe just because you support the war.
TwelvePole: "OH AND THESE COLORS SHOULD BE RUNNING THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD..."
careful, somebody might think you MEAN that! Whether you're shouting or not, it sure looks like it.

LInda - ok, now I am confused because every article I found including the one I quoted above listed the organizer of the DC rally to be Act Now to Stop the War and End Racism (ANSWER). From the info I found the were formed after 9/11 in an attempt to spread a message of peace and to stop race based actions against arab american and muslims.
Are we looking at different raly info or different rallies entirely?
The rally was Coordinated by Act Now to Stop War & End Racism as neon stated.
Protestors came from all over the country, including students from DC area schools, American University, University of Maryland, Georgetown, Howard University, George Washington University and Johns Hopkins. The marchers were not organized by "Anti-Capitalists, Marxists, Stalinists, Anarchists and Communists."

You guys on the left really crack me up. I gave you a website - state what they represent and you call me rabid profe???? Did you even bother to do a search on the Workers World Party website? Obviously not. Read their 'about me' page.
neonmania - I hope you at least read the website I provided. They were one of the organizers of a recent anti-war protest. [Recent being in the last two months]. I have already stated that following the Jan 2003 in DC [probably a day or two after] I read an article where they mentioned the names of 3 groups who were sponsering these protests and spoke of their affiliations. To say more, would be repeating myself.
Boy....if you guys don't believe this you should pull up some Hillary Clinton History and read about who she was affiliated with while at Yale Law School. That may just surprise you too.
