I don't think people were out to silence Mahar. They just got tired of listening to him whine and complain every night. He ruined a good thing. He should've shut up and let the celebrities go at it.

"The reason the right is on the rise in the media and elected office is because they are offering better ideas than the left."

What a truly ignorant thing to say.

The right is not on the rise. It is an illusion based on a stolen election, just like another stolen election by another party to the right a few decades ago.

If it wasn't for this forced war that in "my" opinion (I won't speak for others)is tarnishing so much of what truly makes the U.S. great I can only imagine where the Bush approval ratings would be?

Since said election the right has stirred up the middle east, lost the twin towers, ruined the economy, pushed gas to $2.00 per gallon, and is pushing the free world into WW3 and bullying its long time allies.

If that is leadership then I think we are all in big trouble.

The right always has been about focusing power in an elite group.

Every slant has its pros and cons, but I will say this for the central, left, or liberals; they like to share a bit more than the Republicans do

I truly wonder how history will look at this 20 years from now, that is if there's anyone left to look back.

Just my opinion, and yes, I love America and for what it is, warts and all.

I'm really hoping that calmer and more noble heads prevail.

Yeah right, Maher was taken off the air by non-viewers. Let me educate you just a little bit, first, if Maher had an audience after his stupid remark he would still be on network television instead of back in the minor leagues of HBO where he began. Second, Howard Stern is still on the public airwaves because he kept his audience BECAUSE it actually wasn't his audience that complained.

Maher took a liberal and inaccurate cheap shot at the US servicemen and women and lost his audience and lost his job. If Maher had retained his audience he would still be on network television.

His comments are sometimes viewed as anti-American when he's, in fact, very pro-American. Look at the whole picture and you'll see who's side he's on.

The issue isn't Maher's allegiance to any country, it was his insulting and belittling comment about US servicemen and woman. He flatly and plainly said they were cowards. And just as important is the inference that mentally ill people who kill themselves and thousands of others are somehow brave.

What decade are you living in? HBO is not a minor network. Have you ever heard of Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Oz, Sex in the City, or Larry Sanders? What has ABC come up with? Jimmy Kimmel? & "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!"? That is some high quality TV!

I have heard of them all. Every HBO hit such as the Sopranos and Sex in the City are making the network that owns HBO have problems.

The shows are hits by pay tv standards but not network standards.

They want to bring the Sopranos and Sex in the City to network TV but can not due to content.

HBO is minor league in audience size and revenue compared to network broadcasts. That's why they want to bring them to network broadcasting.

More people have seen Seinfeld than the Sopranos or Sex In the City. Seinfeld made 10% of GE's total profits. You can't do that kind of revenue or audience share with HBO.

HBO is minor league.

"HBO is minor league".

Major leagues are boring me. I think that I will subscribe to HBO tomorrow.
