Right! Just look at Linda and me. Although we have diverging opinions on every subject known to man, Someone thinks that we are sisters. Isn't that sweet?

As another long time poster (longer than you Junquemama!), I welcome your opinions, Neonmania. The idea that longevity (survival ) as an AW poster conveys certain rights or privileges with respect free speech, an elite class of posters, is damned offensive (to me at least).

Thank you Stock
Although I am a newbie here I haven't really encountered any elitism. My views are just divergent enough that I think I have found myself on opposite sides of some arguement or another with just about everyone, only tom find myself on the same side on a different subject. They've all been respectful (and lively). I enjoy RT more than most boards I have been on and as long as I manage not to wonder aimlessly into the middle of a Linda/Helen spat I should emerge unscathed

As far as Austbounty is concerned, his words would be offensive, no matter how long he had been registered. Whether he should be suspended has nothing to do with the date of his registration.

No, Irene, my suspension had nothing to do with namecalling. In the days of moderators, I said a naughty word (hyphenated) which was not directed at any individual here. The word began with an f.

This is what I said that everyone should learn from. It is against community guidelines to say this...
As you may note, I don't give a _-u-c-k-i-n-g dam about what anybody thinks about what I say anymore. I refuse to suck up to anybody here or anybody's friend.
I removed the infamous "f". That was the reason for my suspension.
But now, it appears that people can call others Natzi's and get away with it.

They can also call someone else an A-S-S-H-O-L-E (without the hyphens) and get away with it. As I recall, Helen, that's what you called me. Not that I ran to the moderators to complain. I was amused as it revealed a lot more about you than it did about me.

Back to the subject of the thread...
I was reading an article in my local newspaper today by a reporter who recently spent some time touring the Persian Gulf., in particular the United Arab Emirates. An extract:
================================================================
Abdulla Khaliq, an American-educated professor of political studies at Emirates University, said 90% of the nation supports the idea of ridding the Gulf of Saddam - 'the worst dictator in the region and a big problem.'
But he estimates that fewer than 10% want Saddam removed by force if it means the U.S. will establish a beachhead in the Persian Gulf from which it could bully Arab nations, dictate their futures and reorganize their governments.
He said the idea that the Bush administration would presume to know what's best for Gulf nations is so offensive that he personally believes war to resist Amercian hegemony in the region would be justified.
"Let's be clear," he said. "Nobody in this part of the world believes Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction or is any longer a threat to its neighbors or to America 15,000 km away. No one believes Iraq is connected to al-Qaida or to terrorist groups and they don't think Iraq is not co-operating with UN inspections.
"But these are the American justifications for war, and they are lies.
"This is all about some freaky people in Washington who want to run the world unilaterally and want to make the fight here.
"People oppose the arrogance and ignorance of U.S. power more than anything else.
"We are the ones most directly concerned and yet they don't listen to us. They just want to shove war down our throats and tell us how to organize our governments.

Get real austbounty
If you want someone else to listen to your point of view it would be helpful if you keep your sarcasam to yourself. just because im not crazy about war does not mean it has anything to do with "taste" or "personal"
I could not give a rats azz if Saddam winds up six feet under!
