"Helen - You're just getting petty. So a photo catches anybody using their hands or arms in a form of expression. BIG DEAL."

Linda, I go away for a while and you begin to hallucinate. Where did I mention the use of hands and arms in a form of expression?

This is just a trivial thread, Linda...no BIG DEAL. Only you think so. Loosen up!

Helen

I think it IS a big deal Helen. He's imitating JFK just before the Cuban crises and even though he's missing an eye, he still comes across as looking serious. Maybe if he's allowed to think some more, he'll avoid war like JFK too. Let's all cross our fingers!

What can you really tell about a person from a still photo?
You have to be pretty dim for such a simple thing to really manipulate you in any way.
At least he isn't doing the 'praying hands" thingie.

junquemama - I personally think that's an undeserved insult to a very highly regarded man who has long served his country very well. [Powell]. He'd resign before he'd send our troops into battle on the basis of lies. Because he's gone from being a dove to a hawk doesn't mean he's now lying.

If Saddam backs down and goes into exile....then the end result will be the same as when Kennedy stood up to the Russians and they backed down.

Sorry, KD - I'm a little more sensitive than maybe I should be. I apologize for taking your post the wrong way.

You still don't get it, Linda. Kennedy wasn't making an effort to take over Cuba simply because he wanted the country. We were being threatened with weapons from Russia on Cuban land.
Saddam will not be wounded by this war because he will be gone. But the people will be killed. Do you get that???? Thousands of innocent people will be killed and millions will be wounded and affected in some way by this war. Why can't you understand that?
Your president wants global power and this is just the second step toward that goal.
He also wants control of Iraq's oil. The post war profit in oil has his corporate buddies salivating at the mouth.

From Scheer...

Bush pushes the big lie toward the brink..Even some in government can no longer be silent in the face of falsehood

Instead, the U.N. weapons inspectors' verification of Iraq's destruction of missiles, private meetings with Iraqi weapons scientists, visits to locations where biological and chemical weapons were destroyed in 1991 and a series of unfettered flights by U2 spy planes have been met with a shrug and sneer in Washington. The White House line is that even if the Iraqis destroy all their slingshots, Goliath is still bringing his tanks and instituting "regime change." The arrogance is breathtaking. We have demanded that a country disarm -- and even as it is doing so, we say it doesn't matter: it's too late; we're coming in. Put down your guns and await the slaughter

The entire world is astonished that our president is lying not about a personal indiscretion, but about the most sacred duty of the leader of the most powerful nation in human history: the duty not to recklessly endanger the lives of his own or the world's people.

No, Helen, you're the one that will be proven wrong after the war is over. You'll have to face that all you've been saying has been untrue. While the US will stay for a while until things are settled, they are NOT TAKING OVER Iraq.

And yes, people on both sides are going to be killed. Put the blame where it should be place, on Saddam for continuing to give the finger to the world for the past 12 years.

Linda, as gravid points out, nobody can tell squat from a picture, but if, like you say, he's praying, I hope he's praying for peace and his God will direct him in that way instead of the route he's choosing.

90% of Canada's population is only a thin strip of people situated close to the U.S. border. If retaliation becomes a factor, along with the U.S. and Iraqi innocents, Canada will be affected as well as parts of Mexico. Bush hasn't even mentioned this in his plight against Saddam. I hope he's praying for us as well.

Powell's demeanor probably has changed because he realizes that he talking to a bunch of morons that don't deserve eye contact. He is a soldier at heart and knows that waiting is good for Saddam and bad for us... and that we should of finished this 12 years ago.

The man is doing a good job and deserves some praise.

"Do I look like I'm lying to you?"
