In the system I participate in the "Case Manager" is an employee of my carrier (Blue Cross of California). If that is the case with your coverage and some item is being declined you may need to enter some form of arbitration.
Within your hospital system there should be a social worker familiar with various financial and legal resources and they are there to provide answers to any questions.

Linda, I don't know much about this, so I'm just bumping it to the top. I do know that the dollar bill is usually behind most every thing - even life and death issues. I've read that insurance plans assign hospital patients a case manager to precertify their hospital admission and review their continued stay. These managers -- usually registered nurses --can't generally reject treatment but they can refer cases to a doctor in your plan who can deny authorization of payment. If their function is to control cost, it's probably something that you don't need at this point.

wow Linda. I do know that my grandmother had something similiar, and since my older sisters had all the power of attorney and all, they 'took care of all the legal etc' stuff. And I believe they opted FOR a case manangement similiar to what you described. They did it only because they didn't 'have the time' to look over every option etc.
If you feel up to it, I think, IMO would not sign it. I have to agree with Helen, as I think its to control costs, and kinda like signing over your right to future options and such.
I could be wrong of course.
I hope things are going as best they can with you and your family
Probably can't get back on here anytime soon, we just got into the new house, and I'm sitting on the coal burning laptop with a 33 modem in it Hopefully everything will be in its place in say, a year lol
I think about you and your husband often, and pray all goes well.

I was wondering the same thing last night. A dear friend of mine just found out she has advanced breast cancer and that brought Linda to mind. Maybe if we keep this near the top she'll pop in and let us know how things are going for her and her family.
Prayers, Linda.
