90% sell-thru rate? LOL
I doubt that unless you are giving away unwanted merchandise.

stavecards,

I agree with your assessment of Bidville's sitewide sell-through rate prospects. Absent significant changes to curtail endless relistings, I look for zero improvement.

As for BargainAndHaggle, I don't believe the site provides details on closed "auctions" or the data for completed sales. If that's wrong, someone please let me know.

You heard it correctly. 90%. That is what I expect and that is what I get. I take into consideration what I have in a product, and what I will need to get to make a profit. Sometimes I get burned, sometimes I dont. I Usually only sell pretty hot items on Ebay, and some common inserts on Yahoo, but they always get bids, 90% of the time anyway....lol. Everything starts at a dollar no reserve on Ebay, sometimes more on Yahoo depending on the card. So that helps, but that is only because I dont like reserves. I trust the bidders to get it to where I want it. More times than not, it does. So if you dont think it is realistic, your wrong. Granted, I dont sell hundreds of items, but do keep 15 or 20 auctions going at a time, and have not been let down to often. On Bidville, however, I couldnt get rid of anything. Example, 2001 Archives Autographed Bat Relic Reggie Jackson #ed 4/25. Final Bid of 42.00. (I took the Negative). 2 weeks later it closed on Ebay......$500+. Now I doubt if Bidville has ever had an auction close for 500 or more.

I explained that many people have different ideas of success. However, you would have to agree that 350 auctions with 3 bids is not a success. 1% sell through rates are really not worth the time of listing is it?? Also, there is so much junk on Bidville in the sports card section. How will anyone find the good stuff. When I look on there, all I see is junk cards, with a couple nice cards mixed in per page. Its hard enough to look at that darned turquoisish blue color at one item, much less wading through 50 items to find what you are looking for.

Take care all.......T.J.

Welcome to this forum. You're going to be a welcome addition to some and a thorn to many others. You already got my personal welcome.

No thorn to me (bidsbids, sorry to dissappoint you), I just could not understand the 90%, but I understand now, if you start at a $1.00 and take a loss on some, then it makes sense. I have sold about $700.00 worth on Bidville and for that I am thankful, but I have a few going on Ebay and if Yahoo gets their **it together, and starts with FVF, then I will go back.

Tjkitchens,

If the Jackson card is close to an example of the type of card that you sell on Ebay (with a $1 minimum), I would expect that you would have a 90%+ sell-through rate. I would also expect the same if I was selling similar cards. What is surprising to me is that you bothered to list the Jackson card on Bidville in the first place. That is the type of card that almost any serious card seller would list on Ebay first because that is where you would expect to get the best price.

Now I agree with you that 1% is not a successful sell-through rate. What I list on Bidville are cards that I would not expect to consistently sell on Yahoo (or Ebay) at a reasonable price without several relists. Therefore the best alternative for these cards is a no listing fee site. With no fees (or just a FVF), a 5-10% weekly sell-through rate for these type of cards is worthwhile for me considering that there is not a solid alternative.

tjkitchens I was welcoming you. Sometimes a squad of cheerleaders comes out and attacks anyone that says unkind things about BV.

bidsbids,

And sometimes it's a comment like the one you just made that causes disruption in this forum.

Bidsbids,

Thanks for the welcoming. It is nice to see that a few people have seen the light about Bidville.

Stavecards,

I am glad to see that you are content with the sales you are having on Bidville. I also understand that it is very hard to find outlets for the common inserts and base cards that you say you sell on Bidville. There arent many options these days. I just think that they need to find a way to weed out the junk that is on there and will be on there forever. I can go on there right now and put a 0.01 cent card, lets say a 1988 Topps Dan Plesac....lol, list it for 30 days, 99 relists, and I will never have to touch that card again unless it sells. That is more than 8 years that the card will be on there. This just really bugs me, and brings the sales way down. It just looks like a junk site to the new comer.

As to the Reggie card. I wish that was all I sold, I would make tons of money. But really I just sell the game used stuff that I get. I go to Kmart, buy only the packs with the jersey or bat or whatever, sell it and only have to make what I payed for the pack. Everything else is a profit.

Also, I hate the prez. I wish him nothing but the worst.

Take care....T.J.

Yada Yada Yada, seems to me that if you all hate BIDVILLE so much then why do you even bother to talk about it.
Sad this is all you have to do is try to down a site. What do you GAIN, what ?????

I cant sugar coat this any other way but to say if I was the winner on Bidville of your card, I would sue the hell out of you after seeing you publicly brag about taking a neg and then reselling the item. Sorry but if you dont put a reserve or get burned it is YOUR FAULT not the bidder or the site! I think I might do a search on ebay for your card and drop safeharbor a letter with a copy of your post. Maybe they will care, maybe they wont.

Tjkitchens,

Thanks for the reply. As I stated earlier, I am not a fan of the 99 auto relists myself. As far as the common card listings, I wish they were not posted but you have to accept some things in exchange for free listings. I personally am in the process of removing my handful of listings that do not start for at least a $1.

To correct one statement, I did not say I am content with my current level of sales on Bidville. I did state that I would consider 5-10% weekly sell-through to be acceptable, but my current rate is about 2-3% weekly.

Ballsandstrikes,

You would sue the hell out of me huh. That is good to here. I hardly think anything would happen however. I have been hit with dead beat sellers and buyers many of times, no one ever does anything. ESPECIALLY ON BIDVILLE!!!! So you go ahead and do whatever you would like to do if you have that much time on your hands. I am sure Ebay would be pretty mad that they got my listing fees, bold print fees, highlighting fees and FVF fees (roughly 15.00) since I took a negative from their "competition". They are such nice people over there at EBay...lol.

bidsbids,

I dont really know what you said wrong, but hey, I guess it is up to the moderators.

Take care all...T.J.

Your point is???? Are you trying to make me look bad with your vast knowledge and striking comebacks??? Do you think it bothers me??? I told you the situation, if you think that is a deadbeat seller, okay. I never got any money, I didnt rip anyone off. Thats not a deadbeat seller. How about this??? I didnt really just take the negative.....uhhhhhhh....My house burned down, the card went up in flames. Luckily the next day, I pulled another one just like it out of a pack and sold that one......lol. Did this help???
