"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth…" (Exodus 21:23-25)

Crimes that deserved the death in the Old Testament

According to Numb 35:31 there are criminals which "deserves to die". In the Old Testament the following crimes deserved the death penalty:

1. Murder (Gen 9:6, Ex 21:12, Numb 35:16-21).

2. Abuse of father or mother (Ex 21:15).

3. Speaking a curse over parents (Ex 21:17).

4. Blasphemy against God (Lev 24:14-16,23).

5. Breaking the Sabbath (Ex 31:14, Numb 15:32-36).

6. Practicing magic (Ex 22:18).

7. Fortune telling and practicing sorcery (Lev 20:27).

8. Religious people who mislead others to fall away (Deut 13:1-5, 18:20).

9. Adultery and fornication (Lev 20:10-12, Deut 22:22).

10. If a woman has intercourse before marriage (Deut 22:20-21).

11. If two people have intercourse when one of them is engaged. (Deut 22:23-24).

12. The daughter of a priest practicing prostitution (Lev 21:9).

13. Rape of someone who is engaged (Deut 22:25).

14. Having intercourse with animals (Ex 22:19).

15. Worshipping idols (Ex 22:20, Lev 20:1-5, Deut 17:2-7).

16. Incest (Lev 20:11-12, 14, 19-21).

17. Homosexuality (Lev 20:13).

18. Kidnapping (Ex 21:16).

19. To bear false testimony at a trial (Deut 19:16, 19).

20. Contempt of court (Deut 17:8-13).

Good grief!

If you look hard enough you can find support somewhere in the Bible for whatever.

I suppose that's why we have confused Christians.

LOL!

At this point, it seems pretty obvious that there's no real treatment or cure for pedophiles, and I doubt this problem will go away, so how do we deal with them when they are the most hated bunch of people going? Why does death or life in prison seem to be the only answer, when 'barbaric' acts such as castration would actually be more humane?

Because castration will take away sexual urgings, and they just 'cannot do it' pedophila is not a 'sexual disorder' (if you can call it a disorder) nor is rape, as they have studied it, its more a control and violent act than sexual.

There should NOT be any special treatments for these creeps in prison. "You do the crime, you do the time." They know what they are doing is wrong, yet they do it anyway.

I am so disgusted with the arguement that these POSs (thank you for the word, twelve) are sick - that it's an illness. Wrong is wrong is wrong. Why is it that people are so quick to claim illness when it comes down to accepting responsibilities for their actions? They aren't sorry for what they are done - they are sorry they got caught.

Sexually molesting a child is inexcuseable. PERIOD.

Yes, I do fault the Church; but ultimately, this pig made the conscious choice to use innocent children to fulfill his perverse needs.

From what I have read about the social structure of prisons, pedophiles are on the bottom - the scum - and rightly so. Sort of ironic, isn't it? They prey on helpless children - children who can't defend themselves against these perverts...and in the end, these perverts find themselves in a similar situation.

ROFLMHO

I always LOVE reading these threads where those who profess no belief in any God, throw words from the Bible at us that do. Really gives me a good laugh.
-----------

Helen - "What would Jesus do?" LOL

"What a spectacular display of compassion." Helen....my compassion rests with the victims and their families of these criminals. Feel free to support the criminals all you wish.

If you judge my lack of sympathy for criminals who rape children as a lack of compassion that's your issue, not mine.
-----------

"Jesus Christ would be sorely embarrased by you so-called "Christians". And you know this HOW?????? Did he tell you this?????

LOL You say we shouldn't judge? You quote "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone." Sounds to me like you take that to mean we should just totally get rid of our judicial system? No need for police, prosecutors, judges, juries, etc. according to you. LOL Yes, humans do and always have sat in judgement of one another. If we didn't we'd have all these sicko's running around loose rather than having a discussion about how unprotect/mistreated they are.

And it appears to me the non-religious feel quite comfortable throwing 'stones' at Christians. No matter the subject....our faith is called on the line by those who have no faith.

Linda,

You have my quotes mixed up with someone else. I only asked, What would Jesus do?

You may laugh, but that was a sincere question. Based on what I have read, Jesus would have compassion for everyone.

No one has said that you are Jesus. I'm not perfect either but I must be closer to perfect than you are since I am closer to your concept of Jesus.

Is that what you are trying to say?

Crimes that deserved the death in the Old Testament

uhhh.. wgm, notice that it was the OLD testament. With the coming of the Messiah the old law was to be thrown out and Christ law of LOVE implemented.

"I am not the Law, I am the Fullfillment of the law."

"Judge not, lest ye be judged"

But hey, you have your hate to keep you happy....

You "Christians are LIARS, convicted by your words of hate.

Chrst implored us to Love our Neighbor, turn the other cheek, Love God, yet( But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you ) you Hate another one of God's children and glory and celebrate his murder.

1 John 2:4 - He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 4:20 - If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

You all are the worst Christians

Good Grief - so we are now attacking ach others religious interpretations?

Helen - Although the church enabled his reign of molestation, had he had even the smallest degree of regret for his actions he would have asked to be taken from a position that put him into contact with future victims. He did not. I do not blame the church as a whole but I do think that thode that knew of his proclivities and did not have him transfered should be prosecuted as well.

I think that there are going to be some ripple in the prison after this one. Since the gaurds were warned in advance that this was something being planned, one of the two should have been transferred into a differnt section. The fact however remains that he was a high profile scumbag in a violent community. Too believe that his days were anything but numbered is niave.

Prison systems are understaffed, under budgeted and over populated. Unless you want tax increases that situation is not going to change. Unless of course we become a little more liberal with the death penalty .... but that's a whole nother arguement

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No." Abe say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61."

Well Georgia Sam he had a bloody nose
Welfare Department they wouldn't give him no clothes
He asked poor Howard where can I go
Howard said there's only one place I know
Sam said tell me quick man I got to run
Ol' Howard just pointed with his gun
And said that way down on Highway 61.

Well Mack the Finger said to Louie the King
I got forty red white and blue shoe strings
And a thousand telephones that don't ring
Do you know where I can get rid of these things
And Louie the King said let me think for a minute son
And he said yes I think it can be easily done
Just take everything down to Highway 61.

Now the fifth daughter on the twelfth night
Told the first father that things weren't right
My complexion she said is much too white
He said come here and step into the light he says hmm you're right
Let me tell the second mother this has been done
But the second mother was with the seventh son
And they were both out on Highway 61.

Now the rovin' gambler he was very bored
He was tryin' to create a next world war
He found a promoter who nearly fell off the floor
He said I never engaged in this kind of thing before
But yes I think it can be very easily done
We'll just put some bleachers out in the sun
And have it on Highway 61.

"What would Jesus do" Well here is my take.

There is no greater sin, for a man or a woman of God to, in his name, take away the innocence of a child.

In My opinion, He stepped aside and let his Father take over. Look out People, you haven't seen the last of it yet. It has just started.

Sorry Linda - my post had nothing to do with you! I thought mlecher's line was more of a blanket statement to all that call themselves Christians but are quick to show their hateful side. Especially when you'd think it would be the other way around with the non-Christians being hateful and the Christians being compassionate.
