The City of San Fran allowed the 1st gay couple to be married yesterday. They have been together for 51 years.

How many straight couples do you know that have been married this long?

Now that the ceremony has taken place, what has changed today in your life? I bet nothing. How has this ceremony effected your life? I bet it hasn't.

Some of you have stated that marriage is being devalued these days because of gays seeking equal rights. How about all these stupid shows like Joe Millionaire, Married by America, The Bachelor, Average Joe. Please explain to me how these shows promote the "sanctity of marriage".
All this shows me is the most people marry for either money or looks. Once either one is gone then divorce comes in to play.
I don't see any activists telling their lawmakers to stop producing shows like this to save the "sanctity of marriage".

Since it's not legal, logansdad, don't think it's making any difference. All it will do is possibly be a 'court' issue, initially in CA and then on a federal level, for a decision to whether clintons 1996 Marriage act is applicable or not.

Linda, I think you have hit upon another point, all the frivolous law suits that will now take place across the US by the queers trying to get married.

Costing us the taxpayers having to pay for those trials and hearings... I guess people seem to forget that hearings and trials are not free...

I am so glad I live in a state where DOMA is enforced and a LAW has been passed defining marriage... between a man and a woman...

What about all the goofs out there with frivolous lawsuits because they are fat, dying of cancer from smoking or the use of drugs.

Why aren't you condoning that?

What about all the mothers on welfare with five kids having babies just to get more welfare money?

Why should my tax money go toward this non-sense?

Suppose the government does pass a law defining marriage between a man and a woman.
What's to say the government won't take that further and say marriage should only consists of a white man marrying a white woman or black man only marrying a black woman. What's to say the government will say only people between the ages of 25 and 40 should get married? What's to say the government won't then say you can only have two kids?

Further more would you like it if France or England doesn't recognize your marriage because you are American.

There will be consequences later in life that are unforeseen when the government starts to say what individuals can and can't do.

Mattel has now announced that Barbie and Ken are splitting up. Does this mean that it will finally be revealed that Ken is truly [GASP!] gay?

What if he eventually decides to marry another gay doll? Will Twelvepole be signing a petition for that also?

What the hell difference does it make, or will it make, if it's proven that homosexuality is or isn't genetic? Who gives a rip? How will one or the other answer affect your decision about them? That's the lamest excuse for not accepting them the way the are that's out there. It's hate diguised as ignorance... waiting for a verdict that will supposedly allow you to make a more informed decision about them. What a crock!!!

Kiara,

What happens if Barbie is revealed as a lesbian?

Will Mattel come out with Biker Babe Lovin' Barbie? Will she be riding a Harley?

If this does happen all the straight men would be rushing to the stores to buy this item. After all they don't mind seeing two women having sex, but they can't stand to see two guys kissing.

Whether homosexuality is genetic, by choice, or a combination of factors is unimportant. What is important is whether it is constitutional to allow separate and unequal treatment of American citizens. The separate but equal is unconstitutional.

Thanks for being honest about a couple of my (many thousand) positive attributes, KC.

P.S. You'll need to put Helen & Kiara on Ignore because they'll be planning out how to steal you away from me with their innocent behaviour. Just remember, (their) talk is cheap.

Kraftdinner...aka redtoenails

You know I'm not a man snatcher, KD. I have so many men I have to beat them off with a stick.

Kiara will be jealous though.

Helen, yes, red is nice! But, you my lovely have the cheetah skin bikini, which speaks volumes about the tigress in you. I have the capacity to nurture and love many of you fine ladies here, each and every one of you have qualities that bring forth a unique sexiness that is germane to your individuality.

Helen, I had to electrify the fence surrounding my house to keep men out, so I can relate.

Where is kiara to hear her true love's message.

I remember him saying that, Pat, because I was only pretending to be drunk last night (along with Rawbunzel & Helen, if I need witnesses). Everyone else who drank real booze, including KC, would be excused from their chemical induced statements, in which calling you Honey, was one of.

Actually, KC said "Hi Helen" to me before he called Pat honey and then called KD baby while admiring her naked feet.

Maybe, as KD suggests he is under the influence of booze whenever he strays.

Gay Marriage Hopes Kept Alive in Massachusetts

As a midnight deadline approached, lawmakers decided to adjourn the constitutional convention until March 11, when they will take up the issue again.

logansdad, Mattel has already made several versions of Harley Barbie. It would be an interesting marketing concept by Mattel to have Lesbian Barbie and I'm sure she would sell. But how could you tell if a Barbie doll was lesbian or not unless you kept her in the package that was marked as such?

Jealous? Me? How can I be jealous when I know the voices are really talking only to me.

Yes, krafty, Helen's aloofness is only a provocation of amorous nature. She knows soon the Tomcat in me, will come along and pulse the hot breath of passion across the nape of her neck and make her purr like a kitten.

Pat you are delicate and a most fragrant flower, soon our budding affair will be full bloom!

Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic front-runner for president, said last week he is opposed to same-sex marriage.

"I believe and have fought for the principle that we should protect the fundamental rights of gay and lesbian couples – from inheritance to health benefits," he said. "I believe the right answer is civil unions. I oppose gay marriage and disagree with the Massachusetts court's decision."

Last month, a Zogby International poll showed a majority of Massachusetts residents oppose the high court's November decision.

The survey also indicated most respondents favor a constitutional amendment to protect matrimony as the union of one man and one woman.

According to the Zogby poll, 69 percent of respondents wanted to vote on an amendment to keep Massachusetts a traditional marriage state. Also, 52 percent vs. 42 percent agreed only marriage between one man and one woman should be legal and binding in America.
Additionally, more than two-thirds, or 69 percent, believed it is better for children to be raised in a household with a married mother and father.

"It seems the more people consider the long-term impact of homosexual marriage on the family and society, the more they oppose homosexual marriage," said Ron Crews, spokesman for the Coalition for Marriage, a non-partisan state and nationwide alliance of supporters of traditional marriage.

Pro-Family Group Files Suit Over San Francisco Same-Sex 'Marriage' License
(CNSNews.com) -

A pro-family group has filed a lawsuit Friday against San Francisco's mayor for violating California state law on marriage by issuing of marriage licenses to homosexual couples.

"State law is very clear that marriage is only for a man and a woman, as it should be," said Randy Thomasson, executive director of Campaign for California Families (CCF), a statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan family issues leadership organization.

The lawsuit, filed by Thomasson and his group against Mayor Gavin Newsom and County Clerk Nancy Alfaro, seeks a temporary restraining order and injunction to protect marriage for a man and a woman, as California law requires. An emergency hearing was scheduled for Friday afternoon on the matter.
"San Francisco's Mayor Gavin Newsom has no authority to issue counterfeit licenses. Because Attorney General Bill Lockyer is not doing his job to enforce state law and is refusing to block Newsom's unlawful directive, it is now up to the 4.6 million Californians who voted to protect marriage to defend this sacred institution," Thomasson said.

Newsom took a radical step, Thomasson said, when he announced this week that he was directing the county clerk to issue marriage licenses "without regard to gender or sexual orientation."
"Mayor Newsom has lost his mind," said Mathew Staver, president and general counsel of Liberty Counsel, which is representing CCF. "Government officials, including even the Mayor of San Francisco, must obey the law. We are a nation ruled by law, not by power-hungry, renegade, radical activists."
