Reamond - every year at the same time production levels drop and then six months later they are increased. EVERY YEAR this happens Reamond. Without ggetting into time lags and production schedules, these are the numbers the oil companies have dealt with for years but now suddenly they use them as an excuse to raise prices and you use them as an excuse to once again portray your arab hatred. Of course oil companies hope that many more will adopt your attitude since that little deflection allows them to rape you just a little more at the gas station.

:: If the "sheiks" of Araby want my sympathy, oil must go to $12 a barrel again.;;

I'm not sure that any arab ever asked for your sympathy but anyway.... does this also mean that you won't be feeling any sympathy for farmers until bread returns to 10 cents a loaf?

::You seem to think that all refining is for gasoline. "They" increase production to meet the needs of all the millions of people that use oil to heat with in the North East. It has nothing to do with gasoline supplies increasing. Driving actually drops in the winter months.::

Actually - I am well aware that the reason production levels are increased and decreased according to season is bbecause of heating oil demands. Production drops in the spring because of rising temperatures and lowering demands and raises again in the fall to coincide with rising tempertures and demands.

The only reason you're "well aware" is due to my posts.

It makes no difference whether the crude production drops are every year, or once in a blue moon. The pure and I thought simple and easy to comprehend economic fact is that crude prices were at record highs and OPEC cut production.

By the way, OPEC is not just Arabs. However, one Arab country that in effect controls the crude market is Saudi Arabia. Which could have been part of "Greater Iraq" had it not been for us. For them to make production cut backs for fear of a Spring glut when prices were at all time highs was the height of arrogance.

But, this does not mean that there are not corporate criminal at work raising your gas prices in CA.

However, the facts are that nationwide gas prices went up with the price of crude. And gas prices will go down with the price of crude.

Interesting tidbit [to me anyway] that I came across this morning.

"In 2000, one barrel of crude oil, when refined, yielded 19.4 gallons of finished motor gasoline, as well as smaller quantities of many other petroleum products."
-----------------

And even though gasoline prices are high, most news articles say demand is still up.....even though many are complaining about the prices.

Where have I posted "others" words as my own ? Is it the case that in your silly mind the DOE figures "belong" to someone ? In any event, the minute I think you have said something incredibly stupid, you seem to top yourself.

Here is a hint for you 12, when you're in a hole, stop digging.

WRONG - The reason that I am well aware is that I read about this when the announcement was made, also that it has more to do with european and asian demand levels than it does those in the US. I have yet to see you mention anything about heating oil demand levels effecting oil production levels anywhere so shove the condescension already.

::And gas prices will go down with the price of crude.::

Funny - I am seeing a steady increase in gas prices right now despite a drop in crude prices over the past month. I think you attributed that "supreme arrogance" to the wrong group.

And yes dear, I am aware that there are three non predominantly arab nations in OPEC but you are the one that that brought up the Arab Shieks, not me.

fenix - On your 'normal seasonal adjustments'....according to Bloomberg.com [3-17-04 article] this Spring the demand is:

"4.5% higher than the same period in 2003".

fenix - Also on:

that the reason production levels are increased and decreased according to season is bbecause of heating oil demands. Production drops in the spring because of rising temperatures and lowering demands and raises again in the fall to coincide with rising tempertures and demands.

I believe it was again Bloomberg.com said the refineries didn't process as much gasoline as they normally do, because they spent more time refining heating oil for the unusually cold [last] winter.

I think there's many reasons we're paying higher gas prices.

edited to add, yes it was Bloomberg.com http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000006&sid=aueE9Noc.dtA&refer=home

What hole? you mean the one I am getting you in by exposing your posting method?

Nothing wrong with using others works as long as you give credit... you seem to be missing that point.

Does seem to make you look more intelligent... guess you need that edge.

Linda - Bloomberg and the oil companies need to get together and come up with one story because here they are blaming rising prices on "refinery glitches".

I wish I could find the article I orignally read that explained the drop in production levels and the long terms trends along those lines. It came out back when OPEC first announced the upcoming production cut buut showed that is was dictated more by the large demand level changes in Europe and Asia than the US.

I brought it up for two reasons, first they control the market, and second the SA Sheik was on TV last night trolling for sympathy for their monopoly and cutting supplies.
