posted on April 18, 2004 04:51:45 PM newThe fact that Bush got into a NG unit that everyone knew would never be sent to Vietnam and was over staffed before Bush was allowed in is disgraceful. Bush went "missing" for 5 months and nothing was done.
That is an untrue statement - all the way around. First on the 'would never to sent'. There were no guarantees of any kind that they wouldn't be sent.
And if you want to blame anyone for not using the NG in VN to it's full potential, then blame L.B. Johnson. It was under his political decision making powers that the N. guards were used so little. Reports during that time said HE was the one who decided if he sent the guards there would be even more protesting to the VN war than there already was, so he didn't.
And I've proved too many times that the AWOL statement is false. I don't plan to search it out each time this false statement is made. Believe what you want....most here don't believe what's said anyway. If it's not anti-Bush/administration then it's not to be believed anyway. It's fruitless to continue arguing the same subject.

Wrong. The planes that were in Bush's NG unit were classified as "no go" to Vietnam for tactical reasons.
You also have never proved Bush's desertion as false. If you had, you'd better apply for a job with the Bush re-election campaign, because no one there has ever been able to show where he was for that time, nor how he was permitted to be declared unfit for duty by not getting his medical exam.
They are presently throwing men out of the service for refusing vaccinations - and Bush, who received $1 million in flight training just decides to disappear for 5 months and not take his medical exam durung a time of war.
Yeah- Bush is a great example of character and leadership.
After listening to Woodard tonight about the a$$hole Bush everyone should be incensed.
Bush and Cheney discussed the Iraq invasion with "Prince" Bandar of Saudi Arabia BEFORE telling Colin Powell about it !!!
That should make any real American sick to their stomach.

"Kerry describes a general or vice admiral meeting the wounded in a hospital..."and they give them purple hearts"
I drought that John Kerry would know what is spoken to the wounded. I did not receive any of my Purple Hearts in that fashion he discribed.

MORE BS It was an unknown & unpublished option available only in the Navy & Marines. None of the sailors or Marines I have ever talked to, knew of the option.
Besides that, what do you know of earning medals, Helen? How much time in the active military did you server. In other words experience counts, so put up or shut up.
As to the continuing left wing conspiracy of accusing President Bush of being AWOL, more BS. If any of you libs care to be reminded, you were responsible of electing a admitted draft dodger & rapist, you know the guy, also known as SLICK WILLY.
Flying a jet fighter, whether in US
or Vietnamise airspace presents more danger than falling overboard from a boat....
'We have dispatched Dr. David Kay...to search for the bio-warfare agents we believe hidden in Senator Kerry's forehead. If Senator Kerry has used botox as part of a wrinkle enrichment program, he is in violation of UN Resolution 752. Upon receiving Dr. Kay's report, the weapons of mass destruction that Senator Kerry so adamantly insists do not exist...may well be above his very nose.'" --Dick Cheney when asked whether John Kerry has had Botox treaments

Yes, it's been settled already. Only a few continue to repeat the same thing over and over and over when THEY have no proof.
It used to be that the person making the accusation had to prove their statements....not the other way around. If the Bush administration had to prove every lie the left accuses this administration of, they'd have no time to do anything else. The ultra-left has grown rabid in it's lust for the power they lost.
If you had, you'd better apply for a job with the Bush re-election campaign...
Funny you should mention that. I am working to promote this President's re-election. He's a leader not a waffler like kerry.

The option of going home after 3 Purple is open to all service men & women. The request has to be made by the Individual. (In most cases those who are able to returned to action rarely go home. ) In Kerry's case as an Officer, it would have to been approved over his commanding officer or commanding officer may have felt he was a risk to those served with and was glad to see him go..

LOL Fred @ may have felt he was a risk. LOL .... that's probably more like it. Kind of like they did to get clinton out of the state of Arkansas. LOL You've made my night with that statement. Thank you.

Perhaps in your mind and Bush's, but not anyone elses. He was AWOL for 5 months and did not take his physical to fly and was grounded.

They did prove their accusations. The records state that his CO had no idea where Bush was for 5 months. It is also in the record that Bush did not get his physiacal to fly.
It is also in the record that Bush, just like that other Vietnam hero Dan Quayle, got into NG units that were "closed" to everyone else because they were over staffed.
I sure hope you anti-American Bushies are going up to our recent Purple Heart winners and telling them how meaningless the medal is.
Bottom line-- Kerry put himself in harms way and served his country along side the other brave men in Vietnam, Bush and Cheney did everything to avoid service in Vietnam.
Bush and Cheney are Chicken Hawks.
I wonder why Bush's daughters don't enlist and go to Iraq or Afghanistan ? If he's such a great commander-in-chief, why don't his own daughters volunteer to serve under him ?

LOL LOL that's too funny... seeing how those on the left are giving aid and comfort to the taliban and insurgents by their very statements....
You have killed and wound more US soldiers than any Pro-President Bush person would even think of...
Your support for everything against the US provides moral support and a drive to keep going to our enemies... yep it is actually you who are the anti-american... but hey it is freedom speech now isn't it...

I don't see President Bush as deserter and Saddam Hussien posed a threat to the US... when you talk about people being blind... I do hope you're looking in the mirror.

Bush's war?????????
I seem to have read somewhere that Kerry and Edwards also voted for it. Or did I read wrong. Now that is isn't in his favor he can change his mind. Ya right. A military man? that went for early release (4 months) so he could run for public office. So we will give Bush 5 months and Kerry 4 months of non military time. That should almost balance it out.
Also give us some imput on Jane Fonda. Talk about a traitor. It seems like Kerry & Fonda's name were intermingled at one time and maybe still are.
Then if you are bringing up Quale, lets consider Clinton. Draft dodger, and led riots against the americans for Russia in Europe.

Look at the date of this AP report and what it says about Bush being AWOL. Bush disproved nothing about his being a deserter.
Republicans Say Kerry Must Release Military Records
April 20 — WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Opening a new campaign front, President Bush's Republican Party on Tuesday called on Democrat John Kerry to release his Vietnam-era military records.
Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie made the demand after the Boston Globe reported the Kerry campaign was refusing to give up more of Kerry's military records even though he had promised to do so on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.
Kerry has cited his military service during the Vietnam war as a major reason why he has the strength and fortitude to serve as president.
Kerry, a Massachusetts senator and the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, became a leader of the anti-war movement after returning from Vietnam where he was decorated with a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. He served in the Navy from 1966 to 1970.
Bush surrendered his National Guard files from the Vietnam war period in February to try to stamp out election-year charges from Democrats that he shirked his duty.
Those documents offered no new evidence to place Bush in Alabama during the latter part of 1972, the period when Democrats claimed he was basically absent without leave.
Gillespie said Bush had followed through on a pledge made on "Meet the Press" and that Kerry should do the same.
"When President Bush committed to release all his military records on the same program, he kept his word. John Kerry should do the same. Voters aren't stupid, and he shouldn't treat us as if we are," Gillespie said in remarks prepared for the Lucas County Lincoln Day dinner in Lucas County, Ohio.
