MSG, yeah. Now I hear ads where they say 'MSG Free'. But! My brother goes and BUYS MSG and puts it in most everything! Course his wife is Chinese, and I guess they use it a lot. And he is not fat at all, neither is she.

I just can not buy into that line at all. Common sense should be a clue as to what is a good meal and what is crap.
When the school boards enter into contracts with the vendors they have to meet a sales quota or else they are they have to pay xxx number of dollars to the vendor.
What they showed was an example with coke cola machines in the schools where if the sales did not meet the contract sales number the school board would have to pay one hundred thousand dollars in fines.
This is great if you are in sales but not when the young pay for this in later years.

MSG is used in chinese restaurant, but not home cooking in chinese household.
There was a study done many years ago MSG caused brain damage in rats.
but Japanese use AJI-MOTO which is white crystal in a small glass jar,a form of MSG and they use it at home .
It goes back to pre WWII,the japanese diet is mostly fish, sea veggies, and they eat whalemeat,a source of protein .
You dont see many fat people in Japan, unless they are sumo wrestlers.
