As Fenix has pointed out some of the shelters are full and sometimes people "lose" their ID. Street people can also live in little communes and help each other and they can be a lot more caring than some of you may realize, some of them have huge hearts.
If you think by not giving them money they will eventually run out of drugs or alcohol and then go to a shelter for help it’s just not true.
I'm not sure if you understand what it's like when someone sinks so low and the pain gets so bad that they can no longer help themselves or willingly seek help. They live hour to hour and the days just go by for them.
Have you ever spent a night on the street in a bad part of town or sat beside someone as they’ve shot heroin into their arm or tried to help them when they no longer know how to help themselves?

Libra - it is wonderful that you have a family to take care of annd to take care of you. I assume however that you know that not everyone does. The reason that I posted what I did was that you are operating and forming opinions on a plane so far removed from that of the people you speak of that I thought that maybe actually talking to them and hearing their story first hand rather than assuming that you would accept it on face value from me would be a better idea.
Now could someone please explain how it is that Nero starts insulting everyone, lableling them and ordering them how to think and when her targets respond, you and Linda feel the need to start insulting in her defense. And please tell me when I have said anything about someone else needing their meds now that you have stated that I do it often.
Personally I could not care less what you think of me. but I wonder if you could point out where I have insulted you in this thread to warrant still another personal attack from you.
The fact that you repeatedly turn political discussions into personal attacks tells me all I care to know. PLease, by all means, feel free to put me on ignore. Afterall, with all of oyour years of experience surely you have learned that the only person whose thoughts and actions you can control are you own.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

blah, blah, blah, it goes on and on from the biddies.
Hey why dont you guys hook up and go around to some memorial services and go up to the wife or husband or the deceased and say, "you know, you do have those homeless cousins - its really not right your having this service today - shouldn't you be thinking about THEM right now?" I mean really, what ARE you going to do about those homeless cousins? See what kind of response you get. Or better yet, maybe somebody will do that to you when you have a memorial service for someone you love, or at your friggin memorial.
fenix, At least *I* dont have to "plug in" to something to live my life! Ms. I spend half my waking hours in suspended reality giving advice about reality! yeah, right. god help ya if the juice goes out for long, there wont be enough meds in the world to quill you. sweetheart.

Gee, neroter...you need to get a grip! You are becoming a bitter biddy and what's up with the loopy comments lately? You raise hell about not having a Memorial thread and then when colin starts one you add an inappropriate and unrelated comment about queens, Gays and Aids. If you wake up in a better "mood" you can log in and the edit feature will be active.
