Nearthesea-Do you have a Ronald MCDonald House in your area? If so she can stay there free. They really have some nice facilities. Everything is through donations and they also have donated food so they can eat there.

I don't know Libra, I mean near the hospital she works at, but I'm sure they would tell her about it if they do. I do know there is a hotel right across the street though, and that is where she does stay.

Stop, thats why I asked about transplants, and or major surgeries in Canada.

If there is a wait here for transplants, how long is the wait there for them?

There is an entire industry coming of age in the U.S. to separate the middle and lower class from their inheritance. Not the rich, they know how to protect themselves from the need based crap now rampant in our government.

If your parents access or utilize medi-care (or Medicaid) in any way shape or form a bill will be presented to the estate when the surviving spouse passes on. If there is a dependent adult child residing in the primary residence at this time title will be vested in the government and the dependent adult child given a life estate.

Your parents have NO control over the pricing of what is charged to their account; and, guess what, it makes the drug discount card look like a good deal. ten days in the hospital before death can cost a quarter of a million, kiss their decades of estate preservation good bye. Rest home costs add up.

AND you have no choice. You Eskimos better not try that ice berg good bye. Keeping a senior at home to die without medical intervention is considered abuse. Even if the senior has chosen the most stringent DNR.

I urge everyone to do estate planning. The Feds are going to go to a five year look back, increased from three. This means that a property transfer can be voided through court action up to five years after it happens.

Consult an attorney. The rich get richer, the poor or near poor are being set up to stay that way.

yes,i can understand SS wants the house,i have also heard SS will soon be running out of money.
But how is this going to make the rich richer??
The rich have to die too and they will spend more on this death ritual ,more than the middle class and lower class??
In fact, some one once point out,the rich are coward when it comes to dying, the more material wealth you have, the more you are afraid to die.

Parklane I beg to differ with you. My mother had a good sum of money. Went into an assisted living place where they had 4 levels of care. Apartment, your own room, Bed ridden then near death. (I hope you an understand that) She was on SS & RR retirement, her money ran out and fast, she then went on title 19. Before she could go on title 19 they did a thorough search of the previous 2 years to see that none of her money was given to her children. She Died. She received no bills for past due amounts because she was on title 19( welfare). She is now resting in peace.

One note the place where she was living was a very nice place that she chose herself. She visited many places before she chose the one she did. Great care. Good food. She could even have her own car. The reason she went to an assisted living is so she could be close to family members as where she lived was a 150 miles to the nearest daughter and son. When she went on title 19 there was no difference in the level of care she received, in fact, the only people that knew she was on it was the employees doing that kind of work. The Nurses aids and nurses didn't know. She still received excellent care.

Nearthesea. All she needs to do is ask the nurses. I think if you search Ronald McDonald house it will show you where they are located, but I don't know for sure.
