bunni - I'm not sure what you're asking about 'which site'. Are you referring to Slate?
----------

Well dave, thank heaven for the fact that there SOME who might read this review and come away with a different perspective on Moore's knowledge than those of you on the far left hold.

No. The site you mention in "I am able to offer a review from a 'left leaning' site who has a different opinion on how his 'facts' aren't really 'facts'. And not just on the ONE issue I choose to copy and paste either."

Coming from you I'll take being on the far left (which I am not) a compliment.

Fortunately many will not just read the review but will see the movie although I know you cannot take your rose colored glasses off for the 2 hours necessary.

No dave....taking one's rose colored glasses off means being able to see that this review of Moore's film points out it is full of
contradictions and when asked to explain them....he doesn't/won't/can't.

I've looked at the site, Linda--doesn't appear "left-leaning" to me.

Okay bunni that's fair enough. I see it differently.

But putting aside the judgement of if it is or is not leaning left.....the reviewer does make some great points that, if you were interested in doing so, I'd love to hear your opinions about where he's gone wrong. I thought he pointed out several 'left leaning' beliefs and then discounted them. Just like the example I posted along with the link. Do you believe Clarke would say that to protect Bush? I don't.

Linda,

You need to get down to specifics, for example what contradictions...have you revoked your allegation of lies? I can't take Christopher Hitchens article as a left leaning site.

He bashed Mother Theresa...It doesn't surprise me that he would take on Michael Moore.

How come it is always good when a liberal jackass like Moore makes money but it isn't allright for anyone else to, according to Democrats? The rich are evil in their eyes, but not Hollywood. You're all a bunch a two faced pieces of trash.

Suffers from limited vocabulary, limited intellect and obviously low self esteem.

quatermass is basically a loser with nothing to say.

Linda on the other hand commands a wealth of creative thought. Scouring the Internet furiously to find a review critical enough to support her narrow viewpoint.

When Gibson's Jesus movie (the exact title escapes me) came out I had no opinion to express as I was not interested in it one way or another. Linda however is expert on that of which she has never seen nor ever will.

Based on this I award her the Right Wing Clairvoyance Award for 2004 which incidentally is a very small cap but large enough to fit a micro encephalitic* quite well.

No I think it was called for. If I am to sit by and be labeled socialist, far left extremest and any other term that suits certain posters on this board I will point out the narrow scope of their view.

I have no time to trade politeness's with those who seek to limit my rights and freedom and go so far as to question my loyalty to this great nation.

Pinhead is quite mild actually, I have been known to say much more derogatory comments in the past for which I offer no apology. In the words of our Vice President "I felt much better afterward"

bunni - No...that's just dave's standard way of posting here.

I doesn't matter what he says about me....one has to value the opinion of the person the hateful words come from in order for them to hurt...or make one care.

People like dave who take these actions are only working to make themselves feel better than....more intelligent than...more important than... those they put down.

What they don't realize is it's only themself that they lower by these actions.

I pay him no mind....and if I'd been smart, I would have just kept him on ignore.

I think this thread was
Did you see the movie?
So linda, let's get back on topic,...ok, we know you didn't see it.
But, of course, that won't stop you from commmenting.
You're going to be REALLY REALLY busy googling if you want to prove Moore wrong....especially if you haven't seen the movie..DUH!

There are facts, linda, and one big fact is that a few days after 9/11, at a time when Americans abroad COULD NOT COME HOME, Saudis, many relatives of Osama binLaden, were flown out of this country to Saudi Arabia. IT was OK'd by BUSH...and if you think that's a lie will you tell us why such a great leader at such a critical time DIDN'T know about this???????

YOU didn't see this documentary but hey just keep shooting off that giant mouth blindly defending you know not what!
The people here have SEEN the movie and so have lots and lots of people across the country despite the efforts to have it banned by RIGHT LEANING gestapo who DO NOT believe in freedom of speech.

crowfarm's got the point. If some wishes to convince other not to see the movie I'd start a thread and suggest calling it "let me censor your viewing habits...ok"

Or I didn't see it but I know it is wrong.

Taking time off of Fahrenheit 9/11 to mention another film that is just going to drive Republicans mad. Remember how worked up they got over The Day After Tomorrow? Well, I saw a preview today (I went to see Around the World in 80 Days) for a film that will have them jumping up and down again. The film is called Silver City. It's a murder whodunit revolving around a political candidate for governor of Colorado. Frankly, the character is a direct take-off of Bush. The film is set for release in September.

Oh, I don't think Dave's words are hateful at all. There is a limit to how much you can tolerate...being falsely labeled socialist, and in my case farther left than socialist, questioned about being a communist, alleging that we have slandered the troops, twisting our thoughts and perceiving thoughts that we never had....calling us anti American, and not one of these allegations are backed up with data of any kind whatsoever.

Whenever I ask on what do you base these names, there is no answer.

You make a mistake, Linda when you "pay us no mind". That's just rude.

I read that one web site devoted to bashing the Michael Moore movie was taken down because the Republicans decided that they were only being effective in advertising the movie.

Since linda is doing another "let's avoid the issue at hand with a remark, and inane smiley face, about something that has almost nothing to do with the jist of the point."

Here's a double standard for you...."In the political threads we did have there were too many who didn't have the ability to communicate with those who held opposing views. They too...just left."

linda, look in the mirror

Remember the "who aided the enemy" question??? Yes, you do because you disappeared when you saw you were wrong.
linda, look in the mirror.

Well....the author of my link sure ISN'T a conservative.

-----
Last year a friend of mine got Christopher Hitchens' book Why Orwell Matters as a birthday gift from his mother. My friend's mother, a refugee from the Soviet Union, inscribed in the book: "Orwell was hated by the conservatives because he was a socialist. He was hated by the socialists because he told the truth."

Almost the same thing could be said about Christopher Hitchens. Except, increasingly, many conservatives—particularly younger ones—are realizing there's a lot to love about him.

Indeed, despite his scorn for organized religion and hatred of Mother Teresa, there may be no leftist that conservatives like to like more than Christopher Hitchens.

His scorn for lowest common denominator thinking, whether from the left or the right, is as entertaining as it is jarring. A transplanted Briton, he is the scourge of the monarchy. A strident proponent of war on the "theocratic terrorism," he has been a champion of oppressed peoples across the globe. An unabashed liberal, he was outraged by the vulgarity of the Clinton administration and gave up his column at The Nation over that magazine's opposition to war in Iraq.

UNABASHED LIBERAL

Linda, you do understand the difference between writing about a liberal and being liberal oneself, don't you?!?

Edited to add: In an interview last December, Christopher Hitchens stated that he broke with the left a couple of years ago, after 9/11. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=11241
