[Bush] said he supports extending ban on assault-type weapons that expires in September and requiring background checks at gun shows, but has backed delays in acting on those steps. Criticized Clinton for weak enforcement of existing gun laws, but prosecution of people who lie on background checks has continued to lag.

This is what Bush had said he would do about the assult weapons ban.

Yet again another flip flop by Bush.

Bush may have flip-flopped in your mind but a few days ago Kerry the loser proudly held up a gun saying he was pro gun. But it was one he also supported banning

He is a true moron

What do I need a flash supressor and a bayonet lug for, so what the heck, go for it, bring back the ban. I have to admit though that the long non-blade bayonet on the SKS comes in real handy for roasting marshmallows on the campfire after a day of hunting.

What I feel we have to really worry about is all the other little things that they always attach to a bill, Like suppose they sneak in banning reloading components or the total amount of ammunition one can have in their posession.

With the original ban they included a ban on high capacity magazines so they got us with that by sneaking it in.

I don't reload & buy my ammo as I use it. So it would be fine with be if they put that through
I do not see a reason to stockpile ammo.

Who said anything about stockpiling ammo??

Kimlittle
You said earlier in this thread; I spent 6 hours at the range on Saturday. I shot several different high power rifles. Most of them were far more powerful that the 3 assault rifles I shot. These guns are fun to shoot. They are also used in allot of competition as well

You can burn up a lot of ammunition in 6 hours and you are pretty much limited with what loads and bullet weights you can buy with commercially loaded ammo. Also if you shoot in competition, you should reload because there are numerous reloads with different bullet weights and types, powder measures and types that you can make that will increase your overall balistic performances. And the price in most cases decreases to about half of what commercialy loaded ammunition sells for.

As for myself, I see shooting as a sport and I have gotten into reloading several different calibers and it just adds to the overall experience. It's fun to fine-tune a certain reload for a specific balistical type of performance and then go to the shooting range and see it in action.

I spent 6 hours at the range

Ah, that brings back great memories when I was the M-60 gunner on my unit's shooting team in Panama. For 3 months, my job was to shoot at the range every day. About 1000 rounds per day. At $1 per round that's about 1000 bucks worth of ammo I got to shoot every day. Then off-duty, we'd chase beautiful Panamanian women. Those were the days...

Ummmmm, you did leave your guns back at the base when you chased those women, right. LOL

That M-60 is a fun gun to shoot isn't it?? One of my favorites is the Thompson sub machine gun. The cyclic rate is just perfect with 3 or 4 round bursts and it sends those pumpkins down range fast enough and whatever they hit gets a big hole punched in it.

Ed to add; Here's a pic of your M-60 so's everyone can see what we are talking about;

and here's the Thompson sub machine gun;

The M-60 was a great gun. Easy to shoot and if you could see it, you could hit it (with a little spotting help from the AG). And when you carry it, you feel just about invincible. I was surprised to see they retired it.

As for the Panamanian women, sometimes they chased us! Of all single soldiers, half came back with a Panamanian wife. I nearly did too.

I was just trying to make a point. I do some reloading. And I do stockpile ammo. You can never have to much ammo. I am throwing in a few pics of my toys as well

Colt target with Speingfield 6-20X scope

DPMS with 37mm launcher

As you can see I like my assault rifles

Damn, I feel sorry for any crook who tries to break into your house! If money wasn't an issue, that's what my gun collection would look like. But there's truth in the saying 'beware of the man with one gun.'

Is that a full auto Browning MG? That auto shotgun (spas12?) must be a blast to shoot.

The D.C. sniper used the Bushmaster, a relatively cheap rifle, to kill several people in our area.

"It's easy to use for the type of shooting we saw in the Washington area," Haney said. "Almost an 8-year-old child can be taught to do that in an hour, an hour-and-a-half."

Helen, if the dc sniper used a cheap, easy-to-get, single shot bolt action hunting rifle there would have been even more deaths because many of the wounded would not have survived.

As dangerous as the rifles above might look to you, most single shot hunting rifles are more lethal.

EAG,

A Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle, a scope, a tripod and a "sniper platform" were recovered from the suspects' 1990 Chevrolet Caprice, sources said. All the victims -- 10 dead, three wounded since October 2 -- were hit by a single .223-caliber bullet.

Helen, my point was that if it were a common .30+ caliber hunting rifle, (the same kind of rifles that liberals seem to be ok with) the death toll would've been 13 instead of 10.

“Is that a full auto Browning MG? That auto shotgun (spas12?) must be a blast to shoot”

The Browning 1919 is just a semi auto. The SPAS is a ball to shoot.

That is just the evil Assault rifles I own. Check out ebay item number 5512107096. Until I get a website up I put a picture of my collection there
