In the very near future, I'm going to have to replace my fridge and stove. I've always liked white appliances but love the look of stainless steel. For those who have ss, would you get them again? Do you like them? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Stainless steel fridge is great and the magnets adhere to it a whole lot easier.

They are great. Make sure you get the matching SS dishwasher and stovetop oven if you go stainless steel!

Stop, they're expensive here too. That's why I'm on the fence.
Yellow, there should be a law against fridge magnets.

I have a question! My stainless steel sinks are a disaster--they show every single drop of water, always look "dirty" even when they're not. I detest them and can't wait to replace them with porcelain.
Would stainless appliances be any different?

I've wondered that too, Roadsmith. I think there is one manufacturer who makes a fingerproof line of stainless...it has a surface that doesn't show fingerprints so easily. Otherwise you might spend too much time polishing the kitchen?
That's a good question.

Another thing to keep in mind kraft is size, and take exact measurements! and give a little leeway all ways. I didn't, I 'guesstimated' and they delivered, and Duh it didn't fit!
they make the side by side that looks great, but they have one that is HUGE and its the fridge on top and freezer bottom, and it pricey, but nice. Good luck!

Our range is stainless. It's a 40 year old Wolf. My papi bought it for my mom when I was a kid..When they get real old, they're pretty ugly. I'll never replace it though, cooks for 100 people if we need it too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wondered about keeping it clean also. Are they a pain, Near? I love the one with the freezer on the bottom - makes more sense. The one I saw was a Maytag and they're $3700.00 here! I guess I'll have to put in a couple more nights of hooking.

Keep in mind SS is a very soft metal.
If not cared for properly they can get pretty beat pretty fast!

I have never had them so I can't give you a true answer but, my husband had a small cleaning job where all the sinks were stainless steel and there was a product on the market that when sprayed on and wiped it took all the drip marks and fingerprints away.
If you notice when you go into a building some have stainless steel elevators and the doors look horrible because of all the prints. They have to be wiped clean about every hour.
So they do look nice but I think you have to be prepared to use stainless steel cleaner maybe twice a day to keep them shiny.

We have a stainless steel Jenn-Air Kitchen. Our housekeeper uses vinegar and water clean them. They were put in 7rs ago. Never had a problem with them. Look as good as the day they were put in.

Why? From what I have read you don't use what you have now, why would SS make a difference?

Is he "real" now because you let him have his balls back for a few days?
BTW Stainless can suck if you don't clean it correctly over a period of years... Go with the traditional... we know how you support that.

It was the right thing to do a few years ago, dunno if they are still in.

We added/remodeled last year, all new S/S appliances. Fisher Paykel 5 burner gas cooktop, lighted hood/vent, amana true convection 30" wall oven, amana fridge w/ice & water in the door, bosh dishwasher. WHITE double kohler sink enameled. Paid just under $3200. All were last year's models, or from kitchen displays that the stores were updating or remodeling. Full warranties on all included; extended on fridge & oven.
Took a few months to get all the pieces but I couldn't afford full prices

I posed your stainless question to the family builder and here is what he advised.
Stay away from stainless sinks... as previously mentioned they are a pain the keep clean and end up detracting from the overall look.
Stainless is a great surface as long as it in the vertical surface (as in stoves, fridge, etc)
Cleaning is actually very simple and inexpensive - Spray bottle, water, rubbing alcohol. removes the oil from cooking splatter, fingers, whatever and evaporates quickly eliminating streaks.
Hope that helps : )

Fenix: Thanks for the tip on cleaning. Is there a formula for alcohol to water in that spray bottle? I'd like to try that (not to drink! to clean with! - although there are days when I'd like to spray it directly on my brain.)
