Twelve, how are we supposed to work things out if we can't/don't/won't communicate with each other? She was opposed to the subject matter and should have told him, or are you saying it's OK to just drop people because you don't like the topics they discuss? Also, the fact that these 2 were gay has nothing to do with the story.

Kraft

It was Mike's fault. I was a customer paying him for a service. He had me in a vulnerable position. He had scissors in his hand and I had half a haircut.

I was not paying him to argue with me about gay issues. I am also smart enough to know that if I had disagreed with him on something he was that passionate about (passionate enough to point scissors at someone not arguing with him) I would have never gotten a good hair cut again. I made the choice to go to someone who was more in control of himself and was more professional. I chose not to start an argument that was impossible to win.

Gtootie - yes, the scissors do make a BIG difference.

Yes it does. It has everything to do with it.

I want a hairdresser. Not a gay hairdresser or straight hairdresser. I want them to talk to me. They can talk about their partner, their families and what they did last night. I don't want them to turn their sex lives into an issue to be argued over.

It's not that hard to understand. Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Don't Demean, Don't Brag. Keep your mouth shut and no one will care.

OK. I just don't see it that way.

Did you say that to Mike?

"It's not that hard to understand. Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Don't Demean, Don't Brag. Keep your mouth shut and no one will care."

To me, that means don't communicate with others.

Gtootie,
Sorry to hear about your problem with your hairdresser. I do not blame you for not going back. I feel the same way that you did. If you are paying someone for a service, then they should do the job they were paid to do and keep their personal matters to themselves.

I hated getting my hair cut and having the stylist play 101 questions while I was getting my haircut.

I do have a question for you? Did you try explaining to the Mike that you had different opinions on these issues and asked him not to discuss them with you since you both would never agree on them?

Would you have done the same thing if the hairdresser was a woman?

No, I never did, because of his personality. Sometimes, you just know how things will end. He was defensive when I had never given him a reason to be. He was confronting me when I had never opposed him.

I could talk to Jerry. Just like I can talk to my dentist about politics. He is a democrat, but we don't fight about it. He know how I feel and I know how he feels.

I guess, that's really what I'm trying to say. Whether it's sex, politics, religion or background. Everyone usually knows what you are or they soon figure it out. If you just let them be what they are, they will usually just let you be what you are. But when you back someone in a corner, they are going to come out fighting. On the other hand if you come at it in a thoughtful reasonable way you can usually find a way to meet in the middle. Granted with some people that will never happen. But you are always a better person when you try to see things from someone else's point of view.

Having different taste, likes, dreams and passions does not make others bad people. It just makes them different. And just because someone has a different view from you or has a different lifestyle from you that doesn't mean if you laying in the street bleeding they would keep going and let you die.

Being gay does not make you a bad person, just like being straight does not make me a bad person. When I said Don't Ask, Don't Tell, I meant why should we care. I don't feel a need to tell you I'm straight and I don't care to hear you are gay. You don't have to keep it a secret, but why do you have to tell me? Why is it even a discussion?

It is true. You should be able to carry on a conversation without getting confrontational with people. My partner and I had his old roommate and his girlfriend over for dinner last weekend. We are both Democrats and they are both die hard Republicans. We brought up the subject of politics and had a good discussion for two hours. They explained why they supported Bush and we explained why we would not be voting for him. At the end of the evening, neither group decided to change their opinions but we still were friends and had a good evening. It does not hurt listening to someone else's view.

Why is it even a discussion?
It shouldn't be, but it will always be that way because of people's prejudices and pre-conceived notions that people have.

twelve,

You seem to enjoy telling kraft to keep her nose in Canada. So then why don't I invite you to keep your less than intellectual nose in Mississippi where the educational budget is the lowest in the country. I don't know if you live in Ole Miss, but it sounds like it.

Of course the anti Gay Marriage issue will fail in most states. When the gay population in 10 percent of the general population, what would anyone expect. But, on the other hand, the Gay Marriage rights organizations are well funded and well organized. The religious right, the largest group stirring the pot will be up for a long legal fight in this state and in any state. They of course will possibly realize that when the courts rule, the ruling will be based on fairness and equality of the gay men and women as citizens. They will not thumb through any bible checking what is allowed or disallowed.

The religious right are the most blind people in the country. Imagine that, being so stupid to be promised things by the repugnant party, just so the party can gain votes. They really think the courts are making decisions based on the bible. How dense can they really be?

This also has to do with the rest of the public voting based on stereotypes and pre-conceived notions of gays.

twelve,

Here is a news flash for you. In 1965, every state had a law preventing abortion. Then along came the suit of Roe v Wade in 1973. Within 8 years the Supreme Court STRUCK DOWN ALL STATE LAWS PROHIBITING ABORTION AS UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Too bad your mother didn't have one!

You seem to be obsessed with my Mother... why is that? Do you have incestuous desires that you are playing out on these boards?
You have this desire to be with your own mother and are using mine as a substitute?

Are you ashamed of being homosexual and that is the reason for your anger?

You don't understand... once HR 3313 passes the senate and is signed by the President... Supreme Court won't be hearing any cases...

Who is your mother, Mary the queen of all catholics? Mother is not a noun that needs to be capitalized, except at the beginning of a sentence, like I did here.

That reply is a note to your grammar and spelling knowledge, or the lack thereof. Also, you can call me any name you like. Go for it! I don't plan to be baited by you. How was you 30 day vacation by Vendio? Talk about a melt down!

My vacation was good, seems as if you are trying for one...
I already knew someone reported me, are you saying that you are the one that helped me get a vacation?
I kind suspected that as you disappeared after I returned.... guess you didn't realize it would only be 30 days

But then as usual you have no basis for your own words... why are you ashamed? You didn't answer the question.
Do you have more inane dribble or are you done with this thread?
