Hi Heygrape!
Thanks for the link - it does not work for me though - I get the a screen that says:
Bad request
Invalid request -- no address for host www.osilab.ch
Is there perhaps a typo?
Thanks!

heygrape....thanks for the link. It worked just fine for me, and right after I went to the site, zonealarm brought up a warning about an intrusion. I checked it out and found the culprit.

forgive me for being SO stupid but if you have installed zonealarm & it works, and you query an address by every search engine this site has and no addy is found; wouldn't you suspect a hacker?
addy:
168.187.26.239
thanks grapewoman!

I've had attempts by Kuwait also.
Whois is a nice program, here's a nicer one.

P.S. The link by Heygrape wouldn't work for me either?

Reddeer,
Thanks for the link. I checked mine out and can report that, according to the probes and shield tests, McAfee firewall works great!
I also use McAfee Clinic--constant, automatic online virus protection updates (had my hard drive destroyed by Chernobyl once and never want it to happen again!!)

Had to kick this one back up top.
I installed Zone Alarm today and here is what is happening:
I have three e-mail accounts with my DSL account. I use Outlook Express to check the three addresses every 5 minutes.
Every time it checks one of the e-mail addresses (my registered ebay e-mail address) I get a message from Zone Alarm saying that it has blocked access from the following IP:
199.45.39.24
I've been to samspade.org and one other link that was provided above but can find no information on this IP. Can anyone help?
Thanks lot.

That IP addy is for Bell Atlantic Video Serices Company - Reston VA
It's possible that you need to fine tune your
ZA settings to let your email come through without triggering an alarm?

Thanks. I'll look at the ZA help files that are available.
Thanks again for the relief.

Here is one to try
Geektools: http://www.geektools.com/
It has a tab for Spam tools and an engine that puts a name to those amorphus Exodus addresses.
I feel neglected. No foreign countries sending out spy requests. The only attempts I get are echo ping requests from BellAtlantic checking to make sure my connection is working. The most exotic attempt I ever had was from a girlie picture site. It was not long after Himself was fooling around with my computer. He, of course, claimed to know less than a speck of dust. I didn't have the heart to tell him I looked at the History file.

Reddeer and EON: If it makes him happy to think I don't know that he does guy stuff when I am not around that is OK with me. He is awfully cute when he fibs. And too, like most guys the only time he fibs is about dumb stuff like this.

My husband visits those same sites, too. But now I have CookiePal installed; should've seen his face turn the prettiest pink when I asked him about those cookies!
And I would still like an answer from krs regarding his answer about ZA not working well...
