Maggie: Welcome back ya lurker, you! :-\
I almost thought for sure the wizard of oz thing would lure you out and I even had you in mind - you're laughing, when I wrote it! Listen, I dont have a problem with anybodys language,(lord knows I can turn mine any which way when I feel like it), but I also didnt bragpost something to the effect: "thats why I have the job I do because I'm so, "wonderfully refined and diplomatic", like Kiara did in another thread. So just pointing out a little discrepancy there...
As far as Linda goes, she has NEVER ONCE said anything personally hurtful or harmful to me, even though she knows I dont agree with her on a lot of things. And my assessment is helen and kiara DO tag team on the threads. When one is embroiled, the other is right there. It is very obvious. Linda handles herself here everyday. If I have something revelent to say, I'll add it. This wouldnt even be a point of contension if my two cents supported helen and kiara - now would it?
Helen, you bring up this thing NOW - about address the post and not the poster. Where was this when kiara was posting Libra is a coward for (supposedly) using another ID? Here, she breaks all protocol by doing that -- for the grand feat of trying to prove she's SMART or else some crazy paranoia that if somebody wants to post here in anonymity, they are trying to get over on HER.
If you dont want to be judged, then dont judge other people. If you're so afraid of showing you have some life experience which form your opinions, then dont go around calling other people cowards, etc. with all the vigor your archieved eye can muster and expect people to have any respect for that.

They are called mugwumps. You are being too kind. I have another word for it but this is a family channel.

If you mean that I am an individualist..then yes, Helen.. I must be a mugwump..
Consorting with the enemy.. ha!
There has always been more than one way to skin a polecat! hee hee.
And take me off of your damn picket fence, will ya.. it is a poor substitute for sex!!LOL
Nero.. you know how I feel about you and how much I enjoy your posts.. It just grinds me to see how " Wonderful Mommy Dearest" plays you.. and you don't see it.. as long as she is your puppet master.. she won't say anything negative about you.. like she used to be with Kiara.... until Kiara disagreed with her..
Nero.. you are far to smart to allow this manipulation...and by the way..
I haven't read many posts from "Wonderful Mommy Dearest",AKA "WMD"..agreeing with you or praising your opinions..like she does Twelve or Bear..which leads me to believe you are only a snip, snip away from having your strings cut loose..
Classic..you big mush..you were totally bummed all week without Crow and Maggie to keep your lustful fantasy's alive..now that we are back.. poor Helen can catch a break..lol..
And Helen.. Etex and me go back a long, long, long, way..we have an understanding..I am the woman he always loves to hate.. Maggie

LOL trai....I have a word for them too and they are not as Maggie suggested individualists.
Maggie, reserve the name poor for someone else. I have instructions ready on how to hogtie Classic but he's been hiding from me. I would post them for you but as trai suggested it is a family channel.
You've got a whole lot of lovin' to do, Maggie. Have fun!

Maggie and I understand each other in a strange sort of way. I think I love you Maggie.
Maggie, would you like me to give you my version of how the dems could contend for the White House again. I wouldn't give this advice to anyone but you. No jokes, just serious stuff.

Helenjw: I walk my own line here and call my own shots about who and what I choose to post to, or not post to. The very fact that you define me as your enemy because I'm not the ultra liberal you are, tells me why you and your kind are stuck right where they are after this election: left sitting there in your dirty diapers sucking your thumb, wailing. I am an American, Helen. I'm not the enemy. I never met you,or anybody from this board and dont ever intend to.
It's too bad I think differently than you and reserve 'enemy' status for one who has intended harm to me or has harmed me. You 'thrive' on your hatred and perceived "enemies" here and for all your wailing about democracy and choice and all that other good stuff liberals fight for, you're the first to disparage somebody as an enemy for not siding with you. You are stuck in some mud, lady. See, I dont really care that much about Helenjw to hate her or define her as an enemy nor anybody else on this board unless they interfere with my business. I like Linda and I respect Linda. That I like Maggie concurrently - she is funny and not a bitter old coot like you - will just have to continue to drive you mad because I wont be changing my temperance to appease you or anybody on this board.

Maggie, maybe I dont see it as you say...but that'll be "my" downfall if and when it should come to that. I dont get in the middle of you two, though I clearly see you are polar opposites.
I guess I just dont give a sh* that much. I have so much more to think about then this virtual reality here.

I posted about airplanes, not about me. Obviously some here can't deal with facts so try to divert attention away from the topic each time. Reality goes against their programmed thought process and it seems like it is too much for them to deal with.
If you take note, it seems that they want all opposing thoughts stifled and you will find that it is happening here with greater frequency.
Interesting to note that some of the ones here who think Condi is perfect for the job are also the lap dogs, suck-ups and ass-kissers on the board. That's their choice of course but why do they get so upset when others don't follow suit?

Well, there they are again. The slimese twins. Joined at the hip and the lip. One speaks, the other moves her mouth. The ventriloquist and the dummy. Let's see which is the dummy. Hard to tell.
"Helenjw: I walk my own line here and call my own shots about who and what I choose to post to, or not post to. The very fact that you define me as your enemy."
Where did I define "you" as the enemy or as my enemy? It's not all about YOU, neroter.
etexbill ...Don't worry, your ventriloquist will return soon.

Now to get back to the topic.
Most successful business people surround themselves with workers who contribute new and differing thoughts and that input helps keep the company ahead of the curve.
For a president to surround himself with just a bunch of 'yes-men' he is not only doing himself a disservice as far as his job goes, but he is also doing a disservice to the country he represents.

kiara, you cannot be so blind to the fact that you continually insult another's intelligence in your choice of words of what you post about.
Youre discussing this with bill and you write: [for those of you who are uninformed).
ha! I mean, c'mon - just stop short of calling someone stupid why dont you and expect a pleasant reply in return. If you dissect the sentence Rice said, no one is uninformed about various data collected on such a scenario - it was all over the news for months on end!! Just because he agrees that it was not something that could have been "predicted" and obviously it was not -- because if it was from all documententation they had then it never would have happened. But you want us to believe Rice and the others in security should have predicted it because we know that terrorist have hijacked PLANES. No, the terrorist's action this time were just that good at pulling it off under everybody's noses.
I have about a zillon things to do here today, and cannot indulge this any further right now. But no Helen, I dont jump in every thread or every squabble between two posters or between you and Linda, so no I dont tag team with anybody -0 not like you and kiara. Go back and re-read some threads and you'll see that is the truth. btw, I can recommend a good cuban doctor who can operate on you with a kitchen spatula when your ready for your brain surgery!
hahahaah! dancing on outta here.....

etexbill, your projection about 'poor little me' is coming through here quite strongly. I'm sorry that you are having problems trying to be the center of attention so you have to keep diverting the conversation back to yourself. You may be a 'poor little me' but to keep projecting it is getting rather tiresome.
You claimed you wanted some intelligent conversation. Now perhaps you can try to discuss whether you believe that this administration knew about previous planes being used for or planned for attacks or do you think they were unaware of it.
posted on November 19, 2004 10:29:27 AM newdid you ever imagine that someone would fly an airplane into a building? I doubt it.
That was the question on the board. I answered it with a timeline for those who may have been unaware/uninformed about all the incidents. It's as simple as that. For others to expand on it and turn it into this big fracas is totally silly.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. intelligence officials had several warnings that terrorists might attack the United States on its home soil -- even using airplanes as weapons -- well before the September 11, 2001 attacks, two congressional committees said in a report released Wednesday.

kiara: Now you are asking for intelligent conversation. I offered intelligent conversation yesterday and this was your response:
"If you and kiara want to settle down and discuss things in an intelligent manner, then I'm more than ready.
etexbill, you've already proven to me what you consider 'an intelligent manner' of discussing things. I don't stoop that low."

The administration had been warned more often just before 9/11 and they ignored the warnings.
Now with the information that nuclear material could be taken across the border from Mexico we can only hope that they are taking it seriously. It makes me wonder though since they have such an open border policy. Many are coming in from South America too. Most seem to be people who dream of a better life in the US but there are also terrorists using that venue as an easy route into the US.

Okay, Etex.. use me as you choose.. I would be very interested in your advice...
And as you all have read.. this is for my ears only..LOL Maggie
posted on November 19, 2004 10:51:05 AM newThe links on these stories are old so they may not work. But the information that I copied illustrates that the idea of using an airplane in an act of terrorism was not unheard of. Also, note that they knew how to avoid the possibility of such an attack.
The single best refutation of Bush Adminstrations that no one could have know about an al-Qaeda attack by crashed airplane is Bush's attendance at the G8 summit in Genoa in July 2001, where the Italian government installed surface-to-air missiles at strategic locations around the city to protect Bush and the other leaders from just such an al Qaeda attack. This caution was based on information received by American and other intelligence agencies. Weeks later, in early August in Crawford, Bush received a report from George Tenet on the al Qaeda threat. I wonder what it said.
xymphora
WASHINGTON — U.S. and Italian officials were warned in July that Islamic terrorists might attempt to kill President Bush and other leaders by crashing an airliner into the Genoa summit of industrialized nations, officials said Wednesday.
Italian officials took the reports seriously enough to prompt extraordinary precautions during the July summit of the Group of 8 nations, including closing the airspace over Genoa and stationing antiaircraft guns at the city's airport.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 — The president of Egypt and the deputy prime minister of Italy say that Osama bin Laden's network of Islamic terrorists threatened to kill President Bush and other leaders of the industrialized world when they met at a summit meeting in Genoa last July.
The White House, in line with longstanding policy not to discuss threats on the president, declined to comment today.
In an interview on French television on Monday, President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt spoke in specific terms about the threat, saying that "on June 13 of this year, we learned of a communiqué from bin Laden saying he wanted to assassinate George W. Bush and other G8 heads of state during their summit in Italy."
Separately, he told Le Figaro, a major French daily newspaper, that Egyptian intelligence services had told the United States about the threat and that the warning included a reference to "an airplane stuffed with explosives."

OK, Maggie, for your ears only:
What the democrats need to do to get back in the running:
Forget those liberal, left-wing, damnyankees (yes, that all one word) from the east such as Kerry, Dukakis (what a disaster that was), etc.
Find a charismatic, moderate, middle-of-the road democrat from the south. Someone who believes that the government can’t fix everything. Someone who tells the liberal elite media to butt out. Someone who tells the Hollywood crowd to back off. Someone who can bring back the beliefs that made the democratic party the party of the people many years ago.
I don’t know who this would be, maybe someone from your area. Maybe you know the one.
Don’t all you liberals, laugh, and say “no way” without thinking about it.
The democrats have lost touch with the American main stream.
There’s my free advice to find a contender.
Remember, 4 of the last 5 presidents have been from the south.
