Cheryl, I'm not ridiculing anyone and never would. Just a continuation of the jokes about the Cleveland image. And I know about Cleveland's problems, remember I told you that I worked for a company headquartered in Ohio. Most of my work years were spent in sales related to the oil and steel industry. I realize that a lot of the north and other areas are in an economic bind, but you can't blame all of that on Bush or the Republicans. NAFTA and most of our free trade agreements were signed under Clinton. And Hilary is for every free trade agreement that comes down the pike.

Bush's leadership in Texas can't be all that bad. Texas is doing great, my area has one of the lowest tax rates in the country, no state income tax, and contrary to crow and maggie's gripes about health care, if you don't have the means or insurance, care is free or of minimal cost in my city. Lines at the check-out counters are up to three hours long for Christmas shopping. Come on down!

The jokes about Cleveland are taking their toll. All they do is cause the people here to become discouraged. The poverty here is sad. There are more impoverished children here than in any other city in the nation. Our sales tax alone is 8%. We can thank do-nothing Taft for a good part of our woes. Sorry, but under Clinton, there were plenty of jobs here. In fact, most companies couldn't find people to hire. Everyone was working. I'll agree NAFTA is a problem. However, I don't believe it was implemented in the manner Clinton thought it would be. It needs to go.

classic says,
"My son goes to school with low hung pants"
guess what?? your son looks like sh*t"
well actually he doesn't look like shhit. He is a very clean cut handsome young man. I have convinced my self that what he wears are only clothes. My concern with him is that he does well in school, doesn't involve himself in drugs, and treats other people with respect.
Would it be fair to say that you must have dressed just like the fashion of what your parents thought you should. Or did you want to have your own identity during your teen years. That is what choosing your own clothes, music, friends is about.
It's called slowly breaking away from the parents. It a natural process for a teenager. I had long hair from the age of 12 to 19, and it was my choice. Parents who don't let this happen are usually the ones who have teens that have inner anger, and are not allowed to grow emotionally.
And if you wore the clothes that your parents selected for you in high school, then I bet you LOOKED LIKE SHITT.

Libra63, you can shove your ASSumptions because I work most days and evenings and don’t have time to hang out here. Are you certain you don’t have me mixed up with someone else once again? If you go back and read this thread from the start you won't even see me on it at all until you started making unrelated comments about me so you did the ‘pouncing’. DUH!
Since you continue to be so confused, save your silly nattering for someone else and leave my name out of it unless I'm involved in the discussion.
In other words, use those moral values you brag about having because it’s not nice for you to make up stories and gossip about other posters when they’re not here.

Now you did say that didn't you? Or is that a mistake also.

Libra63, read over what I said VERY carefully because you're either playing stupid or missing the point.
I wasn't posting on this thread and had no intention of doing so .... UNTIL you started posting untrue remarks about me saving threads which had nothing to do with the topic. Get it?
It may be a public board but use those moral values you're so proud of and mind your own business and leave my name out of it..... go make up stories about someone else if you've got nothing better to do with your time.

Libra, a guy named Fred kaplan wrote earlier this year....."They should also have looked up some testimony by Dick Cheney, the first President Bush's secretary of defense (and now vice president), three days later, boasting of similar slashings before the Senate Armed Services Committee:
Overall, since I've been Secretary, we will have taken the five-year defense program down by well over $300 billion. That's the peace dividend. … And now we're adding to that another $50 billion … of so-called peace dividend.
Cheney proceeded to lay into the then-Democratically controlled Congress for refusing to cut more weapons systems.
Congress has let me cancel a few programs. But you've squabbled and sometimes bickered and horse-traded and ended up forcing me to spend money on weapons that don't fill a vital need in these times of tight budgets and new requirements. … You've directed me to buy more M-1s, F-14s, and F-16s—all great systems … but we have enough of them.""

Cheney's Record as Secretary of Defense Includes Cutting Troops and Bases
Cheney Cut Thousands of Active-Duty, Reserve, and Civilian Forces. In January 1990, Cheney banned the hiring of any new civilian personnel in the Defense Department through the end of September, which left more than 65,000 jobs vacant. Under the budget proposed in 1990, the Pentagon would have reduced active military personnel by 38,000; selected reserves would have fallen by 3,000. The budget called for the deactivation of two Army divisions. Long range, the Pentagon planned to reduce its work force by 300,000, including about 200,000 military personnel and 100,000 civilians. In 1991, he called for reduction of 200,000 active and reserve military personnel over two years. In 1992, Cheney called for cutting 500,000 active-duty people, 200,000 reservists, and 200,000 civilians over five years. [Minneapolis Star-Tribune, 2/2/92; Chicago Tribune, 2/20/91; 1990 CQ Almanac, p. 672; Washington Post, 1/13/90; Boston Globe, 1/30/90]
Active-Duty and Reserve Forces Endured Huge Reductions Under Cheney. The LA Times reported in November 1991 that the number of active-duty military personnel had decreased by over 106,000, or 5 percent of the total forces. The National Guard and Reserves had been cut by nearly 38,000, instead of the 105,000 the Bush Administration sought. [LA Times, 11/2/91]
Cheney Proposed Over 70 Base Closures.
In 1990, Cheney proposed the closure of 72 domestic military installations and 12 overseas facilities. On April 12, 1991, Cheney proposed to close 31 major domestic military bases. The plan also called for shutting 12 smaller bases and reducing operations at 28 others. He submitted his list of closures to a commission on base closings on April 15, 1991. In 1992, Cheney proposed 70 overseas military base closures, three of which were in Turkey. [Aerospace Daily, 8/17/92; 1991 CQ Almanac, p. 427; Chicago Tribune, 1/30/90]
Cheney Reaps Profits from Halliburton at the Expense of American Taxpayers and Troops
Halliburton Awarded No-Bid Rebuilding Contracts Worth Billions. In March 2003, the Pentagon awarded Halliburton's construction wing, Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR), a no-bid contract to help rebuild Iraqi oil fields after a possible war there, including advice on putting out oil well fires. The Army Corps of Engineers said that Halliburton's compensation for rejuvenating Iraq's oil industry could be up to $7 billion. Oh, believe me, I told my son how f*ing stupid he looked. Fortunately, after loosing the pants one day in front of the family, I never had to tell him that again! LOL! It was hysterical, to say the least. I guess it was made funnier by the fact that he was outside at the time in the courtyard of a rather large apartment complex. So, family was not the only ones to get a peek! Also fortunately, he was wearing boxers. There are just some things a mother doesn't want to see once a child grows up.
Like I said, my son dresses quite nicely now. He's over the phase and I survived it. Would I go through it again? You bet. He's a good, independent son. He lives here with me, but works every day and pays his share of the bills. Considering I practically raised him alone, I think he's doing well and I think his moral values are solid.

Cheryl,
It sounds like you did a good job at raising your son. In my thinking, as long as he doesn't steal from others, harm others, and not involve himself in any illegal activities, then he is moral.

Thanks, Yeager! I'm rather proud of him and my daughter for that matter. She's a wonderful mother! She'd better be. She has my one and only grandchild who will be spoiled silly this Christmas. Jenny saved all year for her and got that child far more than she asked for. Tiffany sat on Santa's lap and the only thing she asked for was a stuffed animal dog, nothing more. Grandma over-spent as well. Some things are just worth it!

Cheryl thats what Grandmas are for. Spoil the grandchild then send them home.
Life is short, shorter than I figured. My brother passed away in September and he was 62. I was talking with my sister the other night and I told her 62 years seems long until death happens and then 62 years seems like only yesterday. So we have to do while we are here. Enjoy that child. Give her great memories of her Grandma....

Don't I wish!!! I'm a pushin' 50. Actually I turned 48 in October and I'm proud to have made it this far! I'm a Libra, can't you tell? I fit every bit of the profile for a Libra.

I know what it's like to lose a brother. It's a VERY tough thing. It's hard losing parents, but we expect to lose them at some point. Somehow we are never prepared to lose a sibling. 62 years old is young. Mine was 30 when he passed back in 1996 and it's still hard especially around the holidays! Try extra hard to enjoy the holidays because I'm sure he would have wanted you to. That helps me to get through it. Well, that AND the fact that I talk to him regularly. Geesh, I hope he hears because if not, someone's listening in on a very private conversation.
