Bush to Seek Cuts in Medicaid, Benefits

Updated 3:58 PM ET January 21, 2005

By ALAN FRAM

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush is readying a new budget that would carve savings from Medicaid and other benefit programs, congressional aides and lobbyists say, but it is unclear if he will be able to push the plan through the Republican-run Congress.

White House officials are not saying what Bush's $2.5 trillion 2006 budget will propose saving from such programs, which comprise the biggest and fastest growing part.

But lobbyists and lawmakers' aides, speaking on condition of anonymity, say he will focus on Medicaid, the health-care program for low-income and disabled people. Medicaid costs are split between Washington and the states.

And once again other than to say the dems should just lie to the voters to get elected...the lefties here who are just so obsessed with battery operated appliances and my personal sex life...just can't stay on topic. It's that they can't deal with the THREE rulings in two days against their own agenda - gay marriage.

On the off topic medicaid issue....good....get the Federal government out of the medicaid business and let each state decide how they want to handle it themselves. Hope is gets through.

linduh, it speaks volumes about what little character you have that you're always so happy when something happens AGAINST other people....if something (that has nothing to do with you) makes someone, anyone, unhappy YOU ARE at your happiest.
Don't you realize what a jerk that makes you ?

Can I mention Armstrong Williams or will you get sore ribs again ?

Whats the matter Linda, you so easily offended....how come you are not running to your fan club for support....aww they are picking on me again. You better say something and stand up for me.

It is funny how you keep complaining about the gay threads but yet you keep posting in them.

Oh by the way at least here in Illinois gays can no longer be discriminated against when it come to housing, employment or credit. But of course the religious conservatives take that as a step closer to legalizing same sex marriages.

Linda the following is a quote by Michael Ventre. I think he was referring to you and your people when he said:

The first step for the CRACKPOT Christians is to accept that they have a problem. I know programs exist that can reprogram the insufferably preachy and transform them back into normal people like the rest of us. They have to get the message that taking the Good Book, living by the parts they agree with and disregarding the parts they don’t, is a learned behavior and can be cured. They need to be taught that looking for secret messages where none exist is an urge that should be resisted.

I agree with you Linda. There are to many undeserved people on medicaid and the states have a better hold on it than the US government. It will eliminate the Federal employees that are over the states, which I am sure are many and give the states the authority on medicaid.

LOL yea right kraft-two things were a dead give away-one the photo is in black and white,I believe your not that old to have a highschool pic in black and white.Linda was right, those hands are too wrinkled to be someone from highschool. So I take it this is some movie star from the 40's-that wouldnt be Linda Darnell by any chance?

Now don't you go insulting Linda Darnell ....my namesake by even thinking she looked anything like that woman does. She was a beauty too....just like KD. And many from my generation were named after her. She died young, in a horrible fire. That picture looks like it's from the 20's or the 30's, imo.

And of course, not at all becoming to KD....she's MUCH more lovely and younger.

It's Bette Davis in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane. (One of my favorites!)

Seriously, if I posted a picture of myself, the board would go quiet because nobody would no what to say.

Linda, your picture reminds me of how much fun it used to be to put lots of make-up on, get your hair done, put on a dress and a flower in your hair then lay on a fur rug. I miss that.
