Stock: I would do that except I have over 20,000 items here just sitting around that need to be sold and I can really only do it well on ebay.

Nute: Lol, are ad hominem attacks the best you can throw at me? Just calling me names? Well I am just stating the facts and proving examples of ebay problems, if you have a problem with them please let me know. I can provide specific sources for all posts I leave if you will just email me. Thanks a lot.

Ben

Not quite

Just stick to the topic, OK? (And save the sniping for the online auction venue of your choice )

I got a bounced check from a seller once that I found out later was on his third ID at ebay and went on to get yet another one (after being NARUD) when the people he stiffed got together and complained.
Now what is stopping you from getting another ID and going back to selling at ebay.( I'm not saying this is right or ethical I am just wondering why you haven't if that much money is at stake)
I am not judging you I have no idea what's going on here. This is just a simple question.

Tegan: I have tried your idea, eBay has ways of tracking you down. Believe me, they watch for me even today. I guess what I do now is look for people who sell the same as I do and then I contact the losing bidders in those auctions and about 70% of those people usually buy from me. I feel I have a slight moral victory here since ebay doesn't get a nice cut of those transactions, but still I am no where near what I was selling before. Thanks for the suggestion though. I am open to legit suggestions.

Ben

Whether this poster is being straightforward or not is not as relevant to me as the fact that ebay DOES do things that are unjust. Is there really anyone posting here who has not EVER heard of them doing something highly objectionable to SOMEONE? Is there anyone who can say they know of NO cases of ANYONE being seriously wronged by ebay? That they have treated every one of their users justly?

Can we never take a post at face value here and discuss it? It might be useful!

Is there no compassion for people who ARE angry whether it's 'healthy' for them or not? Anger is not often a constant state over this long a period of time .. it waxes and wanes.

So .. who can tell this poster where the best place is to list to make the same amount of money he was making? Anyone?

Have any of you been treated this unfairly? Have you been able to just 'get a grip' and move on peacefully without going through the stages of anger?

I'm not making any judgments on the validity of this particular posters claims as I don't feel I have enough info (and judging is something I try to avoid).

I really am curious why these types of threads aren't used to discuss the issue at hand regardless of whether you think it is a bonafide complaint. It is for SOMEONE I'm sure. Do you think they would come in here for a little support and sympathy with the lack of compassion displayed by 'most' posters here?

Slam me if you will .. won't bother me. But, I'd rather hear about on topic experiences! Perhaps some answers to the questions I posed above?

Tegan,

That's something that he doesn't want to hear. I said that they would not let the him they know back in, Irene as much as repeated it, and yet he keeps on with this.

Can we get him renamed to sgttimeforebaytodie?

tuition44years,

We are hearing an unsupported one sided story. Who knows the truth here? You? If so, please share it, for todie may not have.

Of course there are many who've been treated unfairly by ebay and who post here. I've been NARU more than once myself.

But of the people who come here to complain of ebay treatment, todie may be the least straightforward. Whether he is or not, how can it be determined from the information available in this thread?

Without the ability to make a determination of the actuality of todie's situation, what is there to discuss?

If you have visited the site that he was touting then you would know that the information there is as ambiguous as that here, if not more so. It's certainly less restrained, but still offers no clear description of the issues between ebay and todie.

KRS: You must not have been there long. There are many stories like mine, I stated a brief summary of my story already in this thread. I have been straightforward. I have spoken my mind in the method I feel is most appropriate. What else do you wish for me to add? Since you can't prove I'm wrong then don't assume so, remember in American you are innocent until proven guilty and I've never been proven guilty. On ebay you are guilty until proven innocent. They assume you are guilty and then take their time from there to decide if you are innocent. They are judge, jury, and executioner. This is wrong, unfortunately being the monopoly that they are they have no one to answer to so people like myself who have been wronged are left with the tast of posting boards like this with ebay's transgressions. Honestly, would I have spent this much time and effort trying to prove my innocense if I didn't have a legit beef here? I'm willing to go into all the details so ask away....

Ben

My point was that I don't CARE if he proves his 'case' or not .. similar things HAVE happened to people! We hear about it all the time. EVERY story presented here is one sided .. do you expect ebay to pop in and add there 2 cents?

Why is it that unless it's someone 'known' to the community (of whatever venue it's being discussed on) do we DEMAND that they PROVE themselves.

Wouldn't it be useful to take the 'topic' and dicuss it anyway? Whether it happened to THIS poster or not is irrelevant. You ask "what is there to discuss?" This thread could have been used to discuss unfair practices by ebay .. instead it has been turned into a "Prove Yourself" challenge and a forum for jokes at another's expense. Thus, it has become just one more useless, boring, repetitive, contentious comment after another.

I haven't gone to the site mentioned because it is IRRELEVANT. Take what's put in front of you and MAKE it something useful or ... continue and accomplish ????

ok i have felt the same way you have MADE AT EBAY but i have to tell you. It is not worht the time or the money. Have you ever talked to someone and in the middle of talking you just stop and walk away , you know they are not listening and you do not want to waste any more of your breath on them...the same can be said with ebay...they are like that relative you hate . You can take a litttle of them , but not a lot....last you need to watch how you type thing about free to speak and quilty until or not remeber there are poeple who are from aother countries that have less freedom and get by. stop spinning your wheels move on...trust me i have felt the same way ...but put the feeling to good use somewhere they can actually be heard and something can be done

Tuition: Thank you for attempting to help us refocus on what the real issue is here and that we need to stop attacking each other personally (we have already had the admin in here about a half dozen times already during this chat). As I stated before I would be more than willing to answer any and all questions about ebay's poor business practices and lies told on their site, allow me to go retrieve another one for us to discuss, brb...

See? Eastwest knows how to share a similar experience and feelings? An on topic post!

I've really got to go to bed now .. good luck to you todie! I have not had anything happen to me at ebay as intense as being Naru'd or even suspended. I do, however, have stong feelings about the way they treat their users in general. As much as I'd like to be able to list there and bring in some much needed fast cash, I just don't have the enthusiasm or energy required. Maybe next week .. who knows! In the meantime I'm listing elsewhere and will continue to in any case.

There are lots of people who are angry with ebay with just cause ... or just fed up like I am. Either way, it's nice to know you're not the only one!

Night all!

The following is from a high level person at ebay that is posted clearly on their site for everyone to see this lie, if you would like I can email you the link so you can see for yourself:From the founder:

.....we have dealt with complaints among participants. But those complaints have amounted to only a handful. We've had over 12,000,000 items offered on eBay since opening. And only a few dozen complaints....

Regards,

******

Oh really mister founder? only a few dozen? I can name you a few dozen people on ebay that I have noticed who have well over a few dozen complaints on their file, even numbering hundreds of negative complaints. They need to stop lying to the community. I'm willing to wager that there have been way more than 10,000 complaints on ebay since its founding...I have so many little things like this, but this one just sticks out like a sore thumb because its stuck in a spot on their site I see it all the time. If the founder has trouble handling the issues with fairness and class then what makes us think that his safeharbor department can do any better? obviously they can't based on the large volume of complaints they have recieved.

Regards,
Ben

Unfortunately, tuition44years, your point is wasted when you make plea for compassion in general for ebay unfairness in a thread begun by someone registered as 'timeforebaytodie'.

There is compassion in general aplenty here amongst your 'regulars', along with some of the ablest assistance available anywhere. But this person did not register as 'helpmehatinhand' and begin a thread entitled 'can anyone help me?'

No, this person came in some vain hope of fostering a revolt against ebay, a cause unlikely to succeed.

You wish for a thread of discussion of unfairness in ebay in toto? Start one.

todieforebay,

You say you want to get back on eBay, then you say you don't want to. It feels like you're wasting our time. If you want to get back there and start peddling that multimillion-dollar inventory of old magazines you're sitting on, here's what to do. Get a Mailboxes etc.-type address in a nearby town, an answering service, have a separate credit card from a different account issued in your prospective user name or something like it, and create your new identity on eBay. Please note that we'll expect free shipping from you for the hassle of sitting through four pages of this eyewash.

I'm wondering whether "Get a spitcup" is a monerable admonition.

- Pareau

P.S. Michelle, re your statement about editing posts, one time during my Festival of Edits a couple of months back an AW tech person fiddled one of the messages under my name. It wasn't technically my post, but an edit I'd made in someone else's message, but still...
I sure miss those days.

EastWest: I don't feel I have wasted my time, I have provided an outlet for people to share their gribes publicly about ebay where no ebay person can stop the news from getting out. I have even had a story written about me this summer in a highly regarded newspaper from the New York vicinity. I am just getting the word out. Deep down ebay hates it....

the person who listed below her: I will make a note of your suggestions, I still want my name cleared, its the principle of the thing, its like when you unjustly recieve bad credit for something you want it cleared, same principle here. Its not a multi million dollar business either, just about 100K a year, I wish it was multi million though...

You are absolutely right KRS .. my point is obviously wasted. But no matter! I'm not talking about just todie in relation to this thread.. the 'regulars' are HERE too!! This (or ANY thread) can either be:

1) Turned in the direction of PROVE IT, blah, blah

OR

2) It can be turned in the direction of discussing a common problem.

If someone starts a thread with the intention of starting a 'revolt' which is NOT how I see this thread (I just see anger and frustration) .. they will become tired of it if Option 2 is employed. Options 1 merely fuels the fire.

If this thread was titled "There's still great money at ebay!" I doubt anyone would say "prove it" .. they might say "not for me but glad you're doing well". Why can't the same kind of communication take place on a negative subject when someone is angry? I think todie has been polite in the face of being needlessly challenged and ridiculed.

Well I really AM going to bed now!

Regardless of what happens to this thread, I hope that posters will stop and think before they post to a thread .. ANY thread! It would be nice to hear something constructive for a change!

My biggest challenge right now will be hitting the post reply button and not looking back til tomorrow!
