Is it really possible that eBay didn't have the foresight to purchase the ebaysucks domain name? Now that's surprising!! Even our own Mark Dodd made sure to cover AW's butt.

Frogleg: Even if that was true you are still overlooking the clear fact that the founder of ebay clearly lied to the community...want to try to refute that? you are having trouble focusing on the topic here

Tuition: I am used to the critics that show up at my site, about 1 in 5 are, the rest are people ticked off at ebay. The people who have nothing but bad things to say and are mean spirited usually have nothing of value to add to the topic either...

Tuition,

"It would be nice to hear something constructive for a change!"

and what better place for something constructive than a thread committed to destruction, eh?

Has it occured that maybe something constructive is exactly what your 'regulars' have posted?

You really aren't asking for that. As you said, you're asking for sympathy. Perhaps sympathy is easier for someone who is not directly involved in the day to day of ebay as you have said you are not, but for the rest of us, we are in ebay subject to the user agreement to which we and todie agreed, fair or not, by choice.

KRS: once again you make statements with no empiricle proof to back them. What part of the user agreement didn't I follow that lead to my expulsion from ebay? I am not calling for the destruction of ebay, I have not so stated that anywhere in this thread. I have been saying its time for us to stop the ebay monopoly. If you believe that controlling 95% of the online auction market is not a monopoly you need to rethink your thinking...

Okay .. so I had to look back I knew I couldn't just go to bed .. I never can!

KRS: We could talk in circles here .. I'm not asking for sympathy .. I'm wishing others would share their own experiences and their feelings around THIS TOPIC! If you've been Naru'd more than once it seems you might have something to say about how you felt about it...or was it clearly justified and you just took what was coming to you?

MY regulars? Huh? and ... I haven't seen too much contructive here.

The only reason I am not currently involved in the day to day of ebay is because I am fed up! After 2+ years of day to day ebay, I AM affected by it!! (I shared my id w/hubby .. got this new one last Sept(?) I WANT to list there, I NEED to list there but when I go there (everyday up till last week) .. something was messed up every single time!! I decided just to stay away for a few weeks and cool my jets! I still check hubbies auctions for him when he calls from work .. I still listen to him b*tch when his auctions won't load or the site goes down, and on and on.

I've said before that I'm sure I'll always list some on ebay but I will never keep all my eggs in one basket again. I am SICK of ebay as it is now. I need to get to a point where I can use it without feeling 'indentured' for lack of a better word from this tired brain!

Frogleg: I beg to differ, over half the people I talk to about this say they are there because its "the only game in town", that sounds like a monopoly to me, the only reason people are stuck at ebay is they are afraid to go to other sites and sell because all the traffic is at ebay...but I respect your opinion

The only game in town is the only "proffitable" game in town. Go look at your own site if you want some other choices.

Hey Frog .. where's your thread? Don't forget how few peeps from ebay actually post here. It won't be a statistically valid pole but it will be an interesting read if you do post a "DO YOU LOVE EBAY?" thread!

Tuition: Your not the only one who is sick of ebay, my site is attracting record amounts of people every week, I'm now starting to make a mailing list to people who contact me since its becoming such a pain in the neck responding to all the complaints people direct to me (as if I was safeharbor!) and I plan on giving the top 10 ebay transgressions they have committed against their own paying customers. And to the great dismay of a few of the people on this site I won't be going away any time soon, I'm in this till the day the ebay monopoly is broken and my account is reinstated. Thanks for listening to me.

tuition,

As I suggested, if you would like to see a generalized discussion around the topic of NARU or unfair treatment in ebay, start one. This thread is not about that. This thread is about stopping a monopoly that does not exist, in short, it's about nonsense.

Frogleg -

I haven't listed at ebay for about two years now. When I left, I certainly was not happy with them (as a seller).

I still love to BUY at ebay, and I still love to hear people like you defend them.

You see, the more sellers who accept " the way things are", and don't complain, the better the bargains I can expect!

NOW GET OUT THERE AND LET 'EM HAVE IT!!!!!!!!

Okay .. so I'm seriously 'getting to bed early' impaired!

My OPINION is that this could have been (and still COULD be) a constructive thread if others talked about their experiences as they relate to the topic of the thread!

It is nonsense because most of the posts are nonsense. It didn't HAVE to be! That's my point .. I don't know of any other, clearer, easier to understand way to say this .... it is as much (sometimes more) the replies as the initial post that make a thread what it is!

(I beg to differ with you. Ebay is and acts like a monopoly.

Try to call them with a concern, thay have a unlisted phone number!

The best auction software on the market, is AAPRO, they bought the company, now the promised upgrade for using it on other auction sites is dead!

If you are vocal with the problems, break a rule, and your are suspended.

Keep a low profile, do what you want as long as the bill is paid.

The following is the websters definition of a monopoly (all words included in () are words I have added to the def.):

Monopoly-Exclusive control of the supply of any commodity or service (ebay's control of the online market industry) in a given market; hence, in popular use (over 95% of people using online auctions), any such control (which ebay has) in a given market as enables the one having this control to raise the price of a commodity or service (and they have in the past and will in the future) materially above the price fixed by free competition.

If ebay raises their listing fees 10% do you think anyone will stop using the site? maybe a couple, do you think the vast majority of people will? no. Ebay has enough people suckered into using them that they can control the prices and we can't really do anything about it.

Conducive of reasoned discussion....Boy Howdy.

It's no monopoly, eddie, it's just where bucks are for most folks. Plenty of choices, and I've made ALL of my biggest sales since February 1999 in other sites, or in Manila.

KRS: stop trying to change the subject, I have just posted a definition of what a monopoly is, ebay fits all criteria, open up your dictionary and study and stop trying to act like you know everything, if ebay is not a monopoly then answer the question I will direct to you again, what is the difference between bill gates and ebay as far as a monopoly? what makes ebay any less an evil monopoly than bill gates??? Answer this and shut us all up.

Your definition used the word "exclusive" todie, yet anyone can list in Yahoo.

Microsoft went to court over the imposition of software in new systems. It would be as if ebay were able to require that noone would be able to access the net without going through them.

Not true, I never stated you could not access the net without using ebay. You are distorting the facts and trying to compare apples with oranges, ebay has a stranglehold on the online market. I clear monopoly, if anyone becomes a fierce competitor of theirs they make all attempts to stop them and buy them out.

A monopoly is when you have NO other choice.
NO other choice as in the telephone co. or power co or water co. But with a choice there is NO monopoly.

Frogleg: Untrue, read the definition of monopoly again, also then why was AT&T a monopoly? There were other phone companies at the time, about the equivelant of all the other online auction sites to ebay currently...

Ed: Surely, I thought I posted it above but perhaps I was unclear. I was terminated from ebay due to "auction non-performance". What happened was apparently some other person had purchased something from me and did recieve it for some reason. Ebay claims they emailed be concerning it but I was never able to locate a copy in my inbox. I emailed them 23 times regarding this asking them to forward a copy of this to me so I could resolve it. They refused to answer me. I was finally told "we don't respond to emails that are not ebay registered emails". I called all 3 of their phone numbers that are not listed on their site. I made 6 calls to ebay and was immediately told "we don't take those phone calls here", its almost laughable that anyone in their right mind can sit here and defend them. I could go on but perhaps it would be easier if you just asked specific questions and I answered them. To date ebay has screwed me and on this transaction and the person who is waiting to hear from me since december about something but I cannot contact them since ebay refuses to help us by disclosing this person's email.....

You are right! But we have made it that way. And will enjoy or not, what happens to us when the new profit modes hit us. They are comming. The stock has dropped over 70% at one time, now recovered to just over 50% of the high. They have to do something, as the current Public owned compaines have to have gains. Without regaurd to its employees, and you have to know the sellers on ebay are treated as such.
