Deporting the Undocumented: A Cost Assessment
July 26, 2005
• Read full report (PDF)
• Read fact sheet (PDF)
Deporting the Undocumented: A Cost Assessment provides the first-ever estimate of the costs of a policy designed to deport all undocumented persons currently in the United States and those who successfully crossed the border (approximately 10 million people). Using publicly available data, we estimate the costs of a mass deportation effort to be at least $206 billion over five years ($41.2 billion annually), and could be as high as $230 billion or more. Spending $41.2 billion annually would exceed the entire budget of the Department of Homeland Security for FY 2006 ($34.2 billion) and more than double the annual cost of military operations in Afghanistan ($16.8 billion).
This paper helps illustrate the false allure of deportation as a response to our broken immigration system. Our nation needs comprehensive immigration reform, not unrealistic and costly ideas that drain the Treasury with no benefit to our security.
The paper was authored by Senior Domestic Policy Analyst Rajeev Goyle. David A. Jaeger, Ph.D., associate professor of economics at the College of William and Mary, conducted the data analysis

dbl - It's long been a pattern for crowfarm/mg to copy the postings/statements of others....turn them around...and use them on the person who made the statement.
Kind of sad really that she can't come up with her own ideas and has to use those of others.....

WOW! three "intelligent " posts from the neocons having, of course, nothing to do with the post.

LOL Linda! I know!! It would even be funny, if it wasnt so ardently and obviously intended to badger and just displays this extreme malignancy that resides within 'it'.
I have to tell you, Linda - one thing I noticed, and really admire about you: You do your thing regardless of what others put out, and your are not easily swayed into a procession like these monkeys are.
(Sometimes I think I could recast a mold with a mood, and they'd all follow it down!)

It's worth the money to deport them - not that I believe this guys numbers anyway. Here's just a sample of what they are bringing to this country these days (besides crime and an increase in gang violence):
LEPROSY, HEPATITIS AND TUBERCULOSIS RISING FAST IN UNITED STATES
By Frosty Wooldridge
NewsWithViews.com
"In the past 40 years, the United States registered a total of 900 cases of the feared Biblical disease--leprosy. Virtually unknown to Americans in the last century, leprosy exceeded 7,000 new cases brought in on the backs of newcomers since 2001. Most of the people infected in America are illegal alien immigrants from leprosy hot spots in Mexico, Brazil, the Caribbean and India."
"Now known as Hansen's disease, leprosy arrives with immigrants from crowded, poor countries with scant sanitation. However, its new presence in America has caused 11 clinics to sprout up overnight."

Do you have a link to that info, i'd like to email it to my Brother. My Brother and i won't eat in the fast food restaurants around here anymore because we believe that alot of the illegals that work in them are carrying disease and making people sick. I've noticed my health has improved alot since i quit the fast food.
arrives with immigrants from crowded, poor countries with scant sanitation.
I've long believed that because they come from areas with scant sanitation and their hygene practices aren't up to par with ours that they are making alot of people sick by simply not washing their hands. But then most can't read the 'employees must wash their hands' posters in the bathrooms and management surely doesn't care to properly train their staff.
ed; or is that the link there, NewsWithViews.com i can find it on my own but thanks for posting that.

Well, thank you dbl. I have always been an independent person....self-reliant and all that you know. Never felt the need to not be myself so that others would accept me. And it's a good thing since I post here.
-----------
I agree, Caroline, and even more so in all the free benefits they get once they're here, at taxpayer expense. Add all that money too....and it would be well worth it to deport them. Our laws are already on the books....and could be used for all our immigration problems. But NEITHER party appears willing to take the political risk and actually use those laws.

piinthesky - I agree...and once worked with a nurse who never would eat out at all....just for that reason. Learned her lesson the hard way...her son caught Hepatitis. It's not just fast food places...most places were food is served and prepared. My husband even had problems in the work environment. Not only not washing hands...but standing on the toliet seats to do their job....a couple of them caught taking a BM in the corner of a storage room.
And I've shared this before, but a neighbor of mine owned a cafe and grill in San Jose and he had a couple of police officer friends. Everytime they'd show up to get a cup of coffee or something to eat...my neighbor lost his kitchen help. They'd run away, never to be heard from again. Must have had phoney documents.
But the health issues are nothing to take lightly...now-a-days they can be life threatening.

It was actually a link from Fox News, they had a story on the air this a.m. talking about how fast TB & Leprosy are on the rise because of the illegals.
They gave an astronomical per person cost to treat each illegal patient - can't locate it in print, but still looking to verify accuracy.
We should be concerned with eating out, the story went in to how Hepatitis A is being spread by illegal food service workers. It is not so much the legals spreading this disease, as apparently their health is checked prior to being legalized - which I did not know.
"Because illegal and legal immigrants are hired into food service, dish washing, cooking, hotels and day care--leprosy finds speedy access across the country." Also Hepatitis A!

::I've noticed my health has improved alot since i quit the fast food.::
And you credit this to no longer eating food prepared by immigrants as opposed to no longer eating fat laden nutrient deficient food? Interesting.

For some reason that made me think of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is in the men's room of a restaurant and sees the cook who doesn't wash his hands.

DBL, I've listened to your insane ranting and ravings for over a year.. sometimes laughing at you and other times laughing with you.. most of the time just tolerating your endless nonsense.. but these cheap shots you've been taking lately are uncalled for and done with the sole purpose of insulting.
I have not insulted you, I have not copied your silly nattering and YOU are not someone I would have the slightest interest in emulating...You have shown your ass here once too often, changed your name and came back to to start your craziness all over again.. but this time you have insulted me for the last time, without cause or reason. From now on, keep your insults about me to yourself. You have shown your true colors.
And Piinthesky.. a poem like that got me booted.. maggie

Caroline - If I were you, I would never eat out again. Obviously immigrants are contra-indicated to your delicate system and since they are in every almost every resyaraunt kitchen these days it's probably much safer for you.
