Caroline....just a bit of warning. You'll never convince helen of anything....no matter what you do. She's one of the hard-core, ultra-lefties that won' believe ANYTHING.
There's just no pleasing her EVER. So...take heed.

Now fenix is not usually this rigid. She's more open when offered proof.
For whatever her reasons are on this issue....she's refusing to accept even stats from WHO [World Health Org.]...and that's an organization that almost every LIBERAL will accept. Nor is she willing to accept that even the Nation Hansen's Disease Organization....which oversees all the 16 leprosy clinics across the US....is to be believed.

So.....I'm done.

"Whenever the nation is under attack, from within or without, liberals side with the enemy. This is their essence." --Ann Coulter

And why the American Voters chose to RE-elect President Bush to four more years. YES!!!

Wanted to add: Also, it appears fenix is not willing to accept the information about leprosy that is posted on MSN's Encarta Encylopedia.

So...short of her calling the National Hansen's Disease Center herself..... there's no hope of getting through to them, imho.

I dont know fenix, I dont have a tendency to get hung up and focus on one thing - like a tie, or carpets. Sorry, but I like to think I see the broader scope of the issue that is being relayed. So far, you and I are rarely ever on the same page! lol!

LOL...helen. I think ONCE AGAIN you have NOT been able to comprehend what was written by me...and the links I've provided.....MINE was NOT taken from World Net Daily....although MY link DOES verify that WND WAS QUOTING ACCURATE STATS TAKEN FROM THE WHO

You may read a lot....but you don't absorb much of what you do read. Glasses on woman!!!!

----------------------

Another thing on this statement from fenix a while back on this thread:

Even if they do add a few cases... going from 96 cases in 2002 to 7000 cases in the following three years is a rather dramatic estimate bump wouldn't you say?

I'm wondering if that 96 cases were NEW reported cases ONLY? Rather than the total number of patients that have been treated TOTALLY for leprosy in the US. That would make sense...since so many of the infectious disease HAVE increased so rapidly SINCE 2002.
That could be.

edited again to add: On one of the leprosy information sites I read today....it does state too that those who present with leprosy are not considered to HAVE leprosy AFTER they get their first set of treatments started.

LOL...dbl...yes, we all have our 'buttons' that others can really push at times....especially the old timers here who know JUST which buttons to push.

But I agree....fenix has a very soft spot in her heart for Mexicans and Saudi's. And her posts often reflect her bias towards them.

"I also don't feel you even bothered to read the links that I have provided as proof of the 7,000 cases of leprosy in the US. Otherwise you would have read a acceptable to many source....the WHO....who even helen quotes as gospel many times."
"According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 1985 there were 5.4 million registered cases of leprosy and an estimated 10 to 12 million total cases worldwide."
"By 2000, there were only 680,000 registered cases and an estimated 1.6 million total cases of leprosy worldwide. Fewer than 7,000 registered cases of leprosy currently exist in the United States."

That information was not linked to the World Health Organization.

Caroline provided a link to the World Net Daily article and it does not attribute the 7,000 figure to the World Health Organization.

What happens in Mexico stays in Mexico. Besides, my attention span is not long enough to do love. I also suffer from Relational ADD

Hey! You spend 7 days in Vegas casinos and see if your brain doesn't start going a bit wonky!

Linda - it's simply a matter of getting frustrated with outdated and shortsighted stereotypes and saying so. You do the same when people attack right wing conservative journalists... hmmm... did you ever have an afair with one?

I'm sorry but lets not go putting wotrds in my mouth Linda. I said that I did not comment on them because I did not know enough to do so. At least I honest enough to admit when I don't have the information to comment unlike the plethora of posts in this thread that have been based soley on assumption.

fenix - All that time in the Casino's? Oh...I am jealous. What fun....good for you.

AND I didn't make the comment about your sex life. And my information/links are much more current than your cdc 2002 post.

You could read any of the info I've provided....you're choice not to. I really don't care....your unwillingness to read the most recent info on leprosy is not going to change the facts. The doctors who work with the leprosy patients...DO know what's going on....and we're seeing a rapid increase of all infectious diseases being brought in by illegals.

Linda, you could walk out of a casino and not know whether its day or night anymore and that is just the way they like it, too! (The casinos) So I'll give fenix that one. But I'd really like to hear the scoop on the Mexican lover! But I get the feeling it would take a twelvefootpole to pry it out of her. Fenix is so discreet, a true professional business woman through and through !~ damn* no gossip tonight!

One day you'll tell how divine it was - right, fenix!

You should be embarrassed linda.

You can't bluff your way out of this little deception, linda. But I know that you will try...

Already, you have posted a three foot page of nonsense in an effort to bury my request that you could not provide.

Stop trying to evade the truth linda. It's obvious to anybody who can read what you have done. You made a serious error when you accepted as fact a ludicrous figure from World Net Daily. Then you tried to lead everyone to believe that you found this information on the World Health Organization page. That was simply FALSE.

IF it were true, you would have the link on this board very quickly. But the truth is that this information was not obtained from the World Health Organization.

Now, as usual, you think that you can screetch and howl and some unwary idgits will believe you. I'm not embarrassed for you. I'm disgusted.

This tactic has happened before. Profe caught you doing the same thing.

This is also from World Net Daily (at the bottom of a more recent article)

Dr. Denis Daumerie, head of the World Health Organization's leprosy-elimination program, thinks claims of immigrants causing a spike in U.S. leprosy are overstated.

"There is no risk of an epidemic of leprosy," he told Columbia. "There's absolutely no risk that the few immigrants who are affected by the disease, if they are diagnosed and treated, will spread the disease in the U.S."

Nothing delusional about it, linda.. Your attempted deceit and my correction are right here on this thread. Since this kind of correction happens on a regular basis, I only wonder why it took you so long to come up with your "delusional defense" in my case.

Appeals Court Rejects Illegal Immigrants' Bid to Challenge Prop 200

By Melanie Hunter
CNSNews.com Senior Editor
August 10, 2005
(CNSNews.com) -

An appeals court has rejected[b] a bid by illegal immigrants to overturn Arizona's Proposition 200, which requires the state to verify the immigration status of people [b]applying for benefits and services they are not allowed to receive under federal law.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed their challenge on the grounds that the illegal immigrants had no legal standing.
"We are delighted the Ninth Circuit has rejected this naked attempt to place the interests of illegal immigrants ahead of the democratic will of U.S. citizens in Arizona," said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, in a press release.

"The question of legal standing has long been a barrier to American citizens seeking redress in the courts when their interests have been harmed by mass illegal immigration," Stein said.

"It is reassuring that the Ninth Circuit recognized illegal immigrants, as a class, should not have any more rights than citizens do, as a class. We believe even if the court had granted standing to the illegal aliens challenging Proposition 200, it would have been upheld on constitutional grounds," Stein added.

The voter-approved initiative also requires people registering to vote to prove they are U.S. citizens and present identification at the polls.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), American Civil Liberties Union and the Mexican government - which filed the suit - plan to take the case "to the Supreme Court and even the UN," warned Perry Pendley of Mountain States Legal Foundation, who represented the voters' interests before the appeals court.

"In the past, MALDEF and other organizations have gotten a largely free ride in the courts for their illegal alien clients. With cooperative legal efforts like this between FAIR, Mountain States Legal Foundation, and the grassroots citizens groups, citizens are seeing the tide turn in the legal war against lawless mass immigration," said Mike Hethmon, FAIR staff counsel, in a statement.

"We worked closely with local groups in Arizona because we believe what they have done there can be a model for citizen action all across the country," said Stein.
"The Ninth Circuit's decision will undoubtedly be a tremendous boost to that effort as Americans use the political process to force government to control illegal immigration and to protect their interests and resources," Stein concluded.
