And in most cases when dissenters don't get their way they have two choices.
1. Leave for places more suitable for them
2. Armed rebellion; to make the place where they are now more to their liking.
So which of the two will dissenters follow?
This country is just a wee bit right of center, I don't see that changing any time soon. Mostly because the other side cannot find a more centered candidate.

You can't limit dissenters to only those two very radical choices, Ron.
Dissenters have many avenues of protest. Regardless of how you view the protest of this poor mother in a ditch outside the Bush compound, her action has been effective whether Bush emerges from his bubble or not. . The publicity that she has been able to generate are making people more aware that Bush has misled the Ameican people into war and that he should be accountable for his lies and bungled foreign policy.
