Comparative Religions. Theology implies belief in something.
... But it's not like they offer courses in Wicca. They can't because it's completely unclear what Wiccans believe. I'll admit I do not understand it. The problem is, NO one really understands it. Not even the "followers" of Wicca can explain it to me.

Wicca is not by any serious definition a serious religion. People picked up things they liked from a couple of ancient religions, combined them, and claimed it was an ancient tradition.
If they even had a single creedal statement of "What is Wicca?" or a "sacred book" of some kind that would make understanding them a lot easier. But there is no such thing. That's why I claim it's made-up.
I have TRIED to understand it, but there is no way to define it. It just is what people say it is.
Want to change my mind? PLEASE DO!
Point me to a definitive "holy book".
Point me to a comprehensive "creed".
Point me to something that wasn't published by Llewellyn (These guys have commercialized Wicca to the point of hilarity).
Point me to ANYTHING that can be understood from a Religious Studies (i.e. non-dogmatic) way.
I'm willing to admit I am wrong, but I want someone to show me that that is in fact the case.
And yes, I KNEW this conversation would head this route, which is why I didn't realyy want to get into this today

Hi Bear....... it may seem like that but I've always been somewhat shy and I think I'm missing the gene for 'small talk'. It doesn't come natural to me like it does for others.

lindak, just because a person is shy it doesn't mean that they don't have any guts or that they can't speak out when they think it's necessary or that they have to put up with insults from others.
Perhaps you fail to understand how painful being shy can be at times. In school I always got top marks but had difficulty whenever I had to speak. Luckily I mostly had sympathetic teachers that understood and lots of friends that helped me. Running my own business and dealing with the public has helped me to overcome much of it. And I've never been one for small talk. I am a good listener though.
Besides, I think that being shy and sometimes sitting in the corner saying nothing is preferable to being a big mouth that never shuts up but never really says anything of consequence.

Kiara, I agree with you more than you know. Shyness is NOT merely a silly inconvenience. It's a serious handicap.
I generally sit in the corner quietly and am ignored by most, even at our FAMILY REUNIONS.

Maggie, I remember you saying here once that you are shy but I didn't expect you to be so, DrArcane. Actually neither one of you sound shy here as you've always sounded very self-assured and confident to me. Come to think of it, I don't know if anyone can really sound shy when posting.

I dont think being so threatened by somebody else's ebay business that you aggressively stalk them and try to ruin their business and slander them is a shy trait either. But what do I know? Yes, I've said it for years when it comes to me and my posting style....... what you see is what you get...... and I'm not about to leave, change or conform to your standards no matter how much you whine and lie about stalking or anything else.

I did post that poem and pic of the field of poppies for a couple of years but only on Remembrance Day. Then you whined and threw a tantrum on the one thread so last year I gave you the privilege of posting it all by yourself as I chose to do something else. Perhaps this year you can do the very same while I choose to do something entirely different once again.
Freedom, inspiration, choice....... it's so much fun. Not all of us sit by breathlessly waiting on a chat board trying so hard to emulate another because we have no other life.

I have about 30 boxes of things left to unpack that have been sitting here since they were delivered a week ago and my friend is coming over to help me with the inventory so I really do have to run now.
Hopefully your friend isn't coming over to help you unpack 30 boxes now also. I'd hate to think I was copying you and have you throw a tantrum about me stalking you over that too !!

btw, did you see the new report on smoking pot and cancer? worse than cigerattes, they are saying. hmmmm. where is your thread on cancer and it is all peoples own fault and they deserve no sympathy? I'm sure NTS saved it as I dont think she took to it too kindly at the time.
